Question of rivalry
This is a question that I posed to Colts, Texans and Jags fans recently. I've changed some of the wording to make it fit for you guys. The point is to gauge the levels of rivalry within our division. I mean no disrespect to any of the teams...
Tell me what you think:
Which team out of the rivals in the AFC South is most hated (or disliked, for the less passionate) by Titans fans? And why? For me it's the Titans. Jeff Fisher is so smug, and it's perpetuated by his team. I'm a Jaguar fan, so naturally I dislike the Colts. I could never hate them, because Tony Dungy is such a great man. Also Peyton is amazingly talented and funny...so it's hard not to like that charm. I hate losing to the Colts, but I halfway like the team because of the men that have represented it. The Texans, for me, are like the annoying little brother that has gotten big enough to start winning half the fights that you get into. The Titans, I don't know what it is beyond Fisher, I cannot stand. How do you all feel? Do you hate the Colts more than the rest, because they've spent so much time on top of the mountain? Is it the Jags? You guys seem to whoop the tar out of us more often than not...So, I'm interested in your take on the issue.

for sure the colts
everything about them rubs me the wrong way (i’m sure it’s like with you and the titans). i’m sure their success has alot to do with the hate too.
i guess next is the jags. i think it would be a bigger rivalry except we seem to beat up on them more often than not so i guess it’s not as big of a deal as it could be.
i don’t really consider the texans a huge rival, but i know other titans fans feel differently. again we beat them pretty regularly so it doesn’t have the big rivalry feel.
with that said the jags and texans are still division opponents and outside of the ravens and colts (and recently chargers and steelers) those are the games i’m most excited about.
The Ravens
Would be the answer of many Titans fans if you go outside the division, and inside the division definitely the Colts. The Jaguars, while not liked, aren’t consistently good enough to be our hated rival. These past two years serve as a great example. The Jags go from beating the Steelers and being a Superbowl trendy pick to being last in the division in a year. WTF? How did that happen?

There is a poll on this site with about 120 votes by Titans fans on their most hated teams. Ravens by far, followed by the Colts. I think the Jags have pulled under 10 votes.

Hmmm...
Well, you posed the question, and your first line states “For me it’s the Titans. Jeff Fisher is so smug”. So how can you say “it’s not just me”, when you say earlier that “for me its the Titans”. Double Talk! Not being crass, just trying to get an example that sticks out in your head.

Ok
Fair enough. The celebrating at plays irks me. I know JDR does it too, but I’m biased…obviously. Also stomping our logo was juvenile. His mustache is annoying as well. I know that’s ridiculous. That’s all I’ve got.
I'm your huckleberry...
What is this logo stomping you speak of?

Blue Donkeys
Bedazzlers
Wannabe Cowboys
To be honest, I never really hated the Blue Donkeys so much until I found MCM. I absolutely detest their fans. So much so that I cheer against my mancrush on Peyton just to see them lose knowing their fans will hurt.
The Wannabe Cowboys have just never been good enough to be a rival. Maybe one day…
Disclaimer: There are some Blue Donkey fans that are not detestable. peytonsthebest, coltsfanawalt and a few more that I cannot think of right now. But they are the minority of exceptions.

Exactly, not even close.
If the choice last year had been lose to every divisional opponent every time we played them but still somehow make the playoffs (impossible I know, but this is hypothetical) and have beaten the Ravens, yet have lost the next game, I would take that over losing to the Ravens in the playoffs every time. Beating the Ravens is… its indescribable. After last years Reg season victory, I partied like a maniac all that afternoon and night. It felt so good. I even went on Ravens message boards just to read their claims of the Refs costing them the game. It was such a great day.

I hear that, my brother...
and I was at M&T Bank stadium to see the Ratbirds lose in their own house in person. And you can be damn sure the fans around me knew whom I was cheering for. Too bad we couldn’t repeat at our house in the playoffs, but still, it was great.

Good guys
The Colts fans of which you speak are decent fellows. I’ve had dialogue with both. I’ve got a nickname for you guys, btw. The Tears. So we’ve got Bedazzlers, Tears, B-Donkeys, and Faux Cowboys. I’ve seen Bedazzlers before, but the others are a 1st for me.

Blue Donkeys?!
C’mon, you can do better than that. Of course nothing anyone could come up with is going to beat Bedazzlers, imo.
BTW, thanks for the compliment. I wrote on my calender today: “I’m not destestable…” Awesome affirmation! ;-)

A mention for San Diego?
for out of Division.
My list goes:
Jags
Texans
SD
Colts
Im a UT fan so I have nothing against Peyton, and really the Texans I dislike for being division rivals, but until recently they weren’t worth much hate because they could barely pull off Ws, so they def fall second to Jags. And mostly I just don’t care for Jags fans.
Oh I also hate the Dolphins, but thats more of a personal thing.

Because most Jags fans...
Think that all of the Jags woes could be cured by running Urban Meyers weirdo Spread offense. They usually are college fans with minimal knowledge about the NFL and think Jack Del Rio is okay, but isn’t that great of a recruiter. Again, this is usually. Not ALWAYS true.

That's funny...
Because it’s true. Obviously, not everyone thinks that way. But there is a faction that believes that exactly.
I'm your huckleberry...
Well...
Titans fans would have the same problem except all UT college fans like the Colts for Peyton Manning. Which is weird, since he never won anything of note there, and yet when Tee Martin went to the Steelers, they didn’t become Steelers fans, and he won a National Championship. Crazy world.

But T Martin never started a game.
Manning maybe didnt win a nat’l championship, but he was very successful and won the Citrus bowl over OSU and was successful against our rivals. Plus, he should’ve come out with a heisman.
Not to mention hes a class act, and has been very successful at the pro level. I like to see him succeed (except against the Titans), so why would I want to root for T Martin and the Steelers when he doesn’t even get on the field?

I still think
there is a huge population of Ut-Peyton-Colt fans out there, and they are really annoying. It just seems to me the Titans fans who like UT have embraced the NFL and its culture and mentality, whereas most Jags fans are just college fans with a passing interest in the NFL. And the equivalent type of fan in Tennessee, the one that views the NFL from a college football perspective, ended up cheering for the Colts because of Peyton, so we avoided having Titans fans who think we should hire David Cutcliffe as our OC and draft Eric Ainge to replace VY.

The ratbirds are the team you should hate the most. The colts have never beaten us in the postseason, whereas we’ve lost twice (both equally against all odds when you look at the game stats…) to baltimore. And its the fashion in which we lost. #1 seed in the AFC (entire NFL actually) and we dominate the ratbirds.. only for some fluke ass play (or plays) to send us home.
At least when the Colts beat us its because they deserved it, putting together a superior product on the field that accounted for more yards, 3rd down conversions, time of possession.. yadda yadda yadda.
When the ratbirds come into our house we beat their ass, but somehow end up w/ a loss.

In the division
it’s the Colts by a mile. They’re the only team to beat us for a division title, and a lot of the most meaningful games have been very close. Plus Colts fans can be infuriating… especially the ones who act like the Dungy mentality is the only was to play the game without being an ass.
Outside of the division it’s the Ravens, and there’s a lot more hate there: The Colts are the preppy lacrosse kids at school who are just annoying, but the Ravens are the guy who kicked your dog and stole your girlfriend.

Colts!
I’m a UT hater, and transferred my distaste for Manning from college to the pros.
Really, though, I have to agree with most fo the other guys: The Ravens actually win the hate race by a mile, when we open the field to competition by the rest of the league.
Third place is probably Patriots, fourth is Rams (still haven’t forgiven them for winning the Super Bowl), and the Jags finally come in fifth. The Texans I actually slightly root for (obviously not when playing TN), I want Houston to have a successful NFL franchise, and feel kinda bad we took theirs away (not bad enough to want to give it back, though).
Colts
They’re the only threat to us in the division. But maybe not anymore, with their new unfamiliar coaching staff.

beating the bedazzlers for all three of their losses one season was so freaking sweet
but its easily the colts in the division. i still wish we were in the 6 team afc central w/ today’s afc north + jacksonville.

so I got a large amount of hatred for tha cowboys. if you wanna see smug, just talk to a cowboys fan. they have this sense of entitlement even though they havent won anything in like 15 years. I just cant stand em.
as for in tha division, it’d probably have to be tha colts b/c they’re tha only team that has consistently been competitve against us. I’m sure tha Cowskulls would be a bigger rivalry if they were better cuz of tha whole Houston thing but its hard to call it a rivalry right now.

I'm probabaly the only fan here
that is OK with all the AFC South teams. None of them make me grind my teeth. My most hated teams are outside the division. Ravens, Chargers, Patriots. I’m beginning to get sick of the Steelers, but it’s nowhere near the carefully nurtured hatred I have for those three. If the Bengals were any good, they’d be about where the Steelers are on my dislike meter.
I have only one hate...
and that is for the ratbirds.
The Colts I respect, the Bedazzlers and the Texans, until they get really good, I don’t think much of them.
Go Titans!
I would definately have to say.........................
the Blue Donkeys are 1st in the division, but the Ratbirds are 1st outside of it (deep hatred runs thru my blood for them), but I also hate the Cowgirls, the Faiders, and the cheating ass Gaytriots. The Blue Donkeys and Ratbirds need no explaination. I have always hated the Cowgirls because i lived in Houston during the 80s and 90s and had to hear all the idiotic Dallas fans talk and how they always think that they are going to win the Superbowl every F’in year. The Raiders mostly has to do with the fact that they play dirty and there fans are rude and arogant. The Gatriots, i mean come on why wouldn’t you hate a team that got caught cheating and basically just got a slap on the wrist. Makes you wonder if they cheated during those 3 superbowl victories and if they knew what the other team was doing???
