Dominique Edison, WR, Tennessee Titans Higlights

Here is a look at Dominique Edison from Stephen F. Austin:

This is an interesting pick. He is 6-2 and ran a 4.45. I like that from a 6th round guy.

What else can you ask for out of a 6th rounder? Looks good!

Meh

He will be another project WR that won’t make it because he is coming from a spread offense so I think he will have a difficult time learning a pro-style system.

Meh?

Who would you rather take in the 6th round? And be careful with the word “Meh.” John Hodgman might open a can.

6’2", 4.45 and the ability to make some acrobatic catches in the end zone, sounds like a good value to me.

great pick for the 6th round

who do we have that can make highlight reel catches like this guy? i never saw a “project receiver” with hands this good. obviously he will need some serious adjustments to go from 1AA to the NFL, but he has great physical attributes AND can make some seriously impressive grabs.

I don't remember what either of them ran

but I feel pretty confident saying it wasn’t 4.45.

Yeah.

If nothing else, the guy should be a solid Special Teams contributor. That’s a serious size/speed combo.

paul williams, filani, orr

have never dreamed of making some of those acrobatic catches like you see in that highlight. the thing that separates this guy from the rest is he can actually play football, not just have some pretty size/speed numbers. he finds the ball, and he goes and gets it, even makes some really nice on ball adjustments.
yes he played 1AA, but he was unstoppable. in the final 8 games of last season, he scored 16 tds, picked up 868 yards on 51 receptions (17 per catch).

from yahoo sports:

A tall, long-armed prospect with elite speed for his size. Consistently is able to get down the field and track down the deep ball with poise and confidence. Showcases good balance and body control as a route runner and looks very comfortable snapping off sharp routes. Finds the ball quickly and has the hands to pluck the ball away from his body. A physical blocker and overall good athlete who simply overwhelmed his level of competition.

Yes

I’m all for a new project receiver with upside. I say lets give him a shot.

physically has the tools.

would've rather taken a corner

we’ve taken too many of these project wr’s in the past. august mentioned filani and orr (best i could find they ran 4.51 and 4.46 respectively). calico, p. & r. williams, jake schifino, and the list goes on. they all had the “physical tools” to develop into a good receiver but so far none have set the world on fire or even luke warm.
granted its the sixth round, so gambles like this are kind of what you got to do. but i would rather the titans gamble on positions they hit on consistently in lower rounds (dl, ol, db, lb) and draft receivers higher up (we did, so good).
with all that said, edison looks good in these highlights going up and getting the ball. i hope he kicks ass and proves me wrong.

It's not that I disagree so much as that I think that the OL and DL are already stacked.

Hell, they had to let Mookie Johnson walk last year because the DL rotation was already too big. Granted, there’s probably always room for at least one new DE, but still… I mean, if those other guys didn’t work out, I mean, at least this is a 6th round flyier and not a 3rd or 4th rounder.

They addressed some needs, pure and simple. That’s kind of a rare strategy for the Titans, but they did it, and if half of these guys work out, it’ll be a real good draft class.

On the flip side, it looks like Harper’s gonna have to hold up for another year, and without Chris Carr back there to backstop the position, that makes me nervous. I think Harper is still serviceable, but his side is definitely the side you’d throw at.

We drafted a CB last year

Williams? Cory Williams? He got hurt last year. Is everyone so certain that he’s not going to be any good?

Cary Williams

They like his potential. That is really all I know.

I dont care what you say...

That catch he makes at 6:20 in the video was f***** amazing. I know level of competors in his league was not much, but man this dude can go up and get the football.
Remember, they picked bad reciever’s in these rounds for years, but who says they didnt learn something and grab us a All-pro.
