The Tennessee Titans Select Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn
Well I was really hoping they would take DJ Moore with this pick, especially when you consider that cornerback depth is their biggest depth need after free agency, but alas they did not. Instead they took Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn. I will have to do some more research on Marks because he was not a guy that I thought they would be selecting today.

he fits Washburn's MO perfectly
but DJ was the best value on the board and filled a need. At this point you have to think the Titans simply will not pick any VU or TSU player, probably because they already live around here and have a social net… maybe they see that as a negative.

Again....
It is what it is.
If you’re like me and pissed right now, be angry for 48 hours and then let it go.
Last year’s team, minus Haynesworth and Carr, will just have to be better in 2009 than it was in 2008.
This is what they do – no acquisitions via trade, basically ever. No trading up, basically ever. No big FA contracts, basically ever. Use a first-day pick on DL every year, no matter what the need or situation. Bring in gobs of late-round picks. Repeat next year.
We just have to hope that Britt does prove to be a a #1 NFL WR on a Super Bowl Champion, and that CB doesn’t prove to be an issue, and that nothing happens to CJ, ever.
I’ll get over it. But for the next 48 hours, I reserve the right to boo loudly on the internet. ;-)

Who would have been your first round pick?
You didn’t answer me in the other thread.

No trading up, basically ever.
This part is pretty much true…i think the last time the Titans traded up in a first round was to get Earl Campbell.

I think DJ Moore might still be there with our next pick.

Good choices for this team
Britt and Marks fill two big needs. Britt is a skilled reciever who can also block, important in our offense. Marks is a inside rusher who will be able to contribute this year and develop under Coach Washburn. I agree that DJ Moore may still be available in 3rd round.
A. West – Do you really think that the Titans would never draft a local player? If character is an issue it really does not matter where you went to college ie. Pac
J Scorpion – I guess Nate Washington magically appeared. He may not be a splashy name but has real upside and should prove to be a value. I am glad we did not throw a lot of money and draft picks at Boldin. 9 mil for a 29 year old wide out who gripes about not being the man, no thanks.

I think they definitely see it as a negative
not as a character issue, but for some reason. Maybe they don’t think local guys get that same shock to the system transplants do… who knows.

As a die hard Auburn fan (I go here but I’m from Nashville) I can tell anyone who’s pissed that this guy was a total steal. He’s a really good tackle. I have alot of faith in our coaching staff and clearly they thought we needed more depth at DT rather than CB. I really would have liked to seen us taken DJ Moore too, but Sen’Derrick is going to do a really good job. He was a beast here at Auburn but didn’t get much national attention.

I just really don’t know anything about him.

yeah . . .
I am an ole miss guy, and remember watching Sen’Derrick two years ago and he was a beast against us – He had a bad season last year, but the year before that he was on every team’s radar. Tremendous upside, but will really suit us as an extra big body in the middle and will help in our DL rotation.
Britt is a fearless guy in the middle and I think he is a great option at the 3 spot. He and Gage have a lot in common, but we needed reliable route running and good blocking from our WRs- His size and ability to grab the ball over smaller defenders will really help us down the road.

yeah, Auburn as a whole had a down year (went 5-7, didn’t even qualify for a bowl. fired offensive coordinator in the middle of the year then they fired the whole coaching staff right after the season.) we’re looking good now though, last year was a fluke. we had a pretty good amount of talent, not saying we’d be top 10 or anything, but definitely not 5-7 material.
but back to the titans, Marks was definitely a first round prospect if the whole team didn’t have such a down year. the defense was on the field 75% of the game because the offense was so pitiful haha. they were definitely more tired and not able to explode as much.

My thoughts going into today
Was that this is a weak draft class with tons of value in rounds 2-4. Most of the players I’ve listed are still out there. If anyone has opinions, air em.
As I’ve always started with our biggest need, these are the WRs I thought were worth it.
The others (excluding Crabtree) I think are all overrated.
Mohamed Massaquoi- Stafford is a joke. Massaquoi saved about 5 INTs in the short tape I watched.
Derrick Williams- poor man’s Percy Harvin. Best kick returner in draft
Brian Robiskie- I bet the Colts grab him. My second WR.
Brooks Foster 27 reps at 225. I think bench press for WRs is the most underrated combine stat. It’s press coverage.
Kenny Britt- strong. can separate
Johnnie Knox- Why not take the fastest guy at the combine?
Jarrett Dillard- Can he separate?
Other guys I could build a franchise with:
Glen Coffee RB Alabama
Jared Cook TE/WR 4.49 40yd. I’d use him as a red-zone WR.
Shawn Nelson TE/WR 4.52 40yd Wins jump balls
Duke Robinson OG Oklahoma
Troy Kropog OT
Perria Jerry DT
Fili Moala DT
Senderrick Marks DT
Paul Kruger DE
Robert Ayers DE
Darius Butler CB
Alphonso Smith CB/returner
Sean Smith CB/S 6’4’’ goal line defense specialist
Emanuel Cook S run stopper/ special teams

I like this pick. It proves to me that they KNOW that Albert’s loss will hurt them. I’m not of the mindset that they’ll be fine without Albert as so many others.
