With the 30th Pick in the 2009 MCM Mock Draft....
....the Tennessee Titans (represented by BBB) select....
Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State
The Titans pretty much always draft best available... Pretty surprised a player that has been ranked top 10-15 on most boards hasn't been picked yet, they have to be excited about this pick. I've seen him in the top 10 on a lot of boards including Kiper at #8 and Scouts inc. at #6.
While I would loved to have picked Kenny Britt right here for the simple fact I want a WR more than anyone, I don't really see how the Titans could pass on a guy with this value this late in the 1st rd. KVB is only signed through this season, Kearse isn't getting younger and guys like William Hayes and Jacob Ford have really only proved to be a situational players. I think the Titans make us happy and fill our need for a WR with Torry Holt through Free Agency.
More on Maybin...
They are saying he could add 15-20 Lbs to his frame athletic frame, He's always in great condition 4% body fat, and has great speed he displayed by running a 4.59 40 at his pro day. He's a natural leader with a great motor... Best first step of any of this years pass rushers, shows strong hands, and a strong enough upper body to keep blockers off 19 TFL. He's aggressive and loves a physical battle. Still in the learning stages, tons of upside. He's a natural playmaker.
The Arizona Cardinals are now on the clock..

DE?
Hmmm…..can’t see it. At this point in your mock, I (my opinion, only) do not believe he fits either the “need” pick, or “best available.”
I could see DT this year (though I would prefer otherwise), but I can’t see adding another DE in Round One. Maybe they will and I’ll be quite wrong, but I can’t see it yet.
I’d bet on CB, even if it means a trade down for an extra pick before making the choice.

Are you serious? You don’t think Maybin at the 30th pick isn’t the BPA?
This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.
Oh and I write words and stuff for Stampede Blue.

Do I have the option?
to trade up or down? If so I would have liked to move up and get a WR…
Maybin isn’t best available? He is gonna go in the top 10 picks of the real draft…

Wouldn't doubt he goes Top 10, actually.
It never surprises me anymore to see early runs on DL, and Maybin is a certainly a good one. Darius Butler at CB may go top 15 and it wouldn’t surprise me either, though. In the Titans’ case, I’d take Butler over Maybin, but then perhaps I just soured on him after watching the combine.
But if 5 WRs really go in the Top 26 in the real draft………………….Then I’ll be shocked.

if he's there at 30 i'd take him
he’s a nice compliment to the bigger de’s on the squad now. look at elvis dumervil, who was also way undersized (but productive) in college.
anyways, i’m still hoping for dj moore.

I'm sure if he was there
at the 15th pick, the 20th pick, or the 25th pick someone would have traded up to get him anyway… But that’s not how this works.

yeah
they’re good for fun, but not as simulations of reality ;-).
I’ve enjoyed reading the picks and the comments regardless.

Why doesn't Aaron Maybin
get a picture like the other picks? Was my thing too long? That’s what she said…
