Terrell Owens released by Cowboys

Alright guys, I know he's a serious trouble-maker, but does it strike interest to any other titan fans out there? Now given what happened with Pac Man I surely doubt Jeff Fisher will take a chance on this guy, BUT he(Owens) didn't have that many issues in Dallas compared to Philadelphia or San Fran and this guy can still play..Sure he suffers from some drop ball syndrome every now and then, but what Titan WR in recent memory hasn't? This guy would take a ton of pressure off the running game especially with the recent Nate Washington signing. I'm totally down for this, because I believe Terrell is an amazing down the field receiver and draws double teams left and right. Opinions?

I think that T.O. would be a.........................

great addition as far as football is concerned and if i was a betting man i would say that we could get him for cheap. But as far as the looker room is concerned I think he might have a problem, because we are a run first football team and he wouldn’t get the ball as much as he is used to. As far as Pacman is concerned, TO will never be the same, only thing he does is cause drama in the locker room, not have strip clubs get shot up and death threats made. The only issue with this would be the fact that he is one of the DIVA wide receivers and if we did sign him what would his influence on our young players be. I honestly believe that it would be worth the risk, maybe a 1 or 2 year contract for cheap. But we all know that the Titans are probably not even going to look at him.

I would love to get T.O.

besides the attitude problems, the man is an amazing player.

Nope

We’ll bring back Pacman before we sign T.O.

it’s weird, and i know it will never happen, but seeing vince young throw to t.o would be a-w-e-s-o-m-e

There is a better chance

that Vince Young starts for the Titans next season at center next season than them bringing TO in here.

no. no. no.

besides being more cancerous than smoking 8 packs a day, he also is one of the most prolific pass droppers in the league. do. not. want. this is football, not a circus.

Only if...

I’d sign him to a one-year deal that had a decent amount of guaranteed money but was heavily performance based. Something that you could walk away from if he becomes a locker room cancer. Without that assurance, I don’t want him poisoning the well.

He hasn't murdered anyone or shot up a strip club.

I wouldn’t be opposed.

It wouldn't ever happen

but its undeniable how much he would open up the pass game if he came to Tennessee. I would expect to see Gage and Washington’s numbers double.

Hes not enough of a team player to play for the Titans though, not only do we not put any stock in WR, he just will never buy into the system and team like Fish would want him to.

btw, I had no idea he was 36. Hes gettting up there in age for a WR.

now with less meyton panning.

by Pride of the Southland on Mar 5, 2009 12:10 PM CST up reply actions

That would be stupid

IMO T.O. has proven to have more downside than upside in the end. Lets not be so desparate for a WR that we will jump at people that we attach the phrase “he’ll be good..if we can only ….” as it pertains to attitude.

I vote for the draft…lots of talent and either speed or size type recievers even in 2nd 3rd round. I’d rather risk on Ramse Barden in 3rd or 4th round than T.O. at least Ramse is hungry to succeed I bet.

I think Fisher and Collins could make T.O. happy

I think it would work because the coach and quarterback are both proven veterans that know how to win and have enough presence to tell T.O. to stuff it. They would know how to deal with him and make it work. Comparing Owens to Pacman is just wrong. I don’t remember ever hearing of him being arrested for anything. He’s got some issues but the experience the Titans have could deal with anything he’d throw at them. Fisher and Heimerdinger wouldn’t stand for any sideline tantrams like he his known for.

by Titanfan on Mar 5, 2009 1:54 PM CST reply actions

No way.

Look at his history. Then consider:

A) We don’t throw the ball much.

and

B) Kerry is not an accurate passer.

T.O. would not be happy in Nashville.

Just what we need...

a distraction in the locker room. no thanks.

and top tier receivers, specially divas like T.O., will never fit in our system.

Go Titans!

I know he's got plenty of baggage

and he does drop his fare share, but the man can still make huge catches..Yes I believe Nate Washington is going to be a good possibly great receiver, but he’s still not better than T.O.

by jacobb23 on Mar 5, 2009 2:11 PM CST reply actions

No way.

TO is way slower than he used to be, and he has nerve damage in his hands. For better or worse, TO’s glory days have come and gone. Right now, today, Nate Washington could, in fact, easily be the player that TO is.

I'm not a fan of TO

But, the Nate Washington comparison is a stretch if only because they are two different types of players and sizes.

by SuperHorn on Mar 6, 2009 10:17 AM CST up reply actions

guys dont get your hopes up...

“A team source told the Nashville Tennessean that the Titans will not pursue free agent Terrell Owens.”
Owens is going to find a place to play, but his options are dwindling. He may have to sign with a bad team. The Raiders still haven’t denied interest.

this is kind of funny, even though florio is an idiot… the anti-t.o. list

Herm Edwards must have read my post.

I’ve been shot down by everyone else I’ve presented that to too. I still think we have the organization that could handle him. My thinking is there would have to be the right contract drawn up. If the Titans could get a deal that would allow for cutting him and walking away from the deal as soon as he becomes a clubhouse liability.

by Titanfan on Mar 6, 2009 8:31 AM CST up reply actions

Could handle him.....

Maybe. Will try to handle him, no way.

I don’t know if this is because i’ve played too much videogame in my earlier days.. “always getting the bigger WR, who can make a lot of catches..”
maybe it’s because the mentality of the biggest sport here (i’m not from USA).. “always improve your team, doesnt matter if the player isnt a role model..”

but i can’t see why T.O is such a “cancer”..
PacMan was a cancer.. killing people, creating a lot of problems.. in the dictionary, if you search troublemaker, you can find a pacman photo..
a player who is a lazy a**, and doesnt do his best to help his team, is a cancer, IMO

i’m not here to say that TO is a team player and a role model.. of course he is a DIVA, but Tina Turner was too, and everybody loved her (lol, couldnt stand)..
he wants the ball.. period.. i dont know if he likes to win games, but if he goes 10 catches, 130 yds, 2 TDs, he’s happy.. when he doesnt get the ball, he complains.. but he doesnt quit on his job..

what i mean is, “what is the problem if the center gets anger at the point guard because of a missed pass in basketball?” in soccer, the same thing.. is there a problem in the world of sports about wanting the ball, wanting to score, and complaining with your teammates if they hadnt delivered it the right way?? personally, i dont think so..

actually, i would prefer a skilled athlete who complains with his teammates rather than a average player who quits, and stay quiet all the time..

it was said about TO.. and he got the eagles in the super sunday..
it was said about moss.. and he also got the pats in the SB..

In the end, i dont think the titans want TO.. he wont be here, thats for sure.. right now he is slowing down, getting old.. but, three years ago, when he was out of philly, if i was a NFL GM, i would gamble on TO.. it paid off for dallas (235 catches, 3587 yds, 38 TDs)

sorry about the long post, but i just wanna understand

"But do you know what happen in my defense? I named Smash 'n' Dash and after the Tennessee game it was aired, right? So, your Fans decided to Swagger Jack Me"

by v1nc3_pr1nc3 on Mar 6, 2009 5:25 PM CST reply actions

it just wouldnt fit

tha Titans are a run first offense and I dont see anyway T.O. would have more than 60 catches in a season and I dont think thats enough to keep him quiet. if he was willing to take less stats to win i could see it but nothin about T.O. says he would be willing to do that. people say he took tha eagles to tha super bowl but people forget he was injured for tha playoffs and he didnt come back til tha super bowl, which they happened to lose. karma is not goin to let T.O. win a super bowl
