Titans need more D-linemen? 13 isnt enough!
It seems as if most everyone is looking for us to go D-Line in the first round. Why? How good of a line do we need? Just listen to the laundry list of players we have on the D-Line. Kyle Vanden Bosch, Jevon Kearse, Jovan Haye, Jacob Ford, Tony Brown, William Hayes, Jason Jones, Dave Ball, Kevin Vickerson, Derrick Jones, LaJuan Ramsey, Charles Bennett, Ulrich Winkler, and Larry Birdine. Meanwhile, everyone that isnt screaming for a DE/DT is screaming for a CB. Im cool with a secondary player in the first round because out of the ten we currently have on our roster are we really going to be able to plug Tanard Davis, Christian Morton, Tuff Harris, or Cary Williams in and be successful against Peyton?

Hey man
Welcome aboard! I noticed you just started posting yesterday.
I think we will see them leaning a little more toward the secondary than the dline, but you know how Jeff Fisher loves his dline, so don’t be surprised if a good one drops and we snatch him up.
But, then again, I don’t think I will ever again try to predict what this team will do in the draft!
Official MCM Hater!
Yeah...
I don’t get the whole DL talk either. Even with he loss of Albert we still have an above average line. Plus I’d rather let Washburn develop a lower round player.
Christie kicks it high and short...Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25...He dishes it back to Wycheck...He throws it across the field to Dyson...
That is a good point
but extra D-Lineman never hurt, especially in Washburn’s system where he rotates them in and out a lot. I think we should look corner but if someone drop like gramsey said, we don’t really have any glaring holes so we have the luxury of best player available.
Cortland Finnegan is a beast
This.
I think the reason the Fisher would pick up another DL/DE is for the flexibility it affords them. Like Titansfan said Washburn likes to rotate a lot, and while a lot of those players you named are good (though I don’t know much about the last 4 or so), they’re not all the impact players like Haynesworth was.
And as gramsey said, I don’t pretend to know what the Titans will do in the draft, but I think they’ll take a CB in the first (I still have hope for a WR, albeit, slight) and I could see them taking a DL/DE over a CB if a good prospect falls to them that they can’t pass up. It might be better idea though if they take a good CB in the 1st and use Washburn’s skills to develop a lower-round DL/DE.
now with less meyton panning.

I will shoot someone if the Titans draft another running back.
In the face.
Not only do we have the 3 high-round picks we’ve spent in the last 3 drafts, we still have that kid from Kentucky we drafted last year who spent the season recovering from an injury…
Not to mention Ganther or Sarge.
Little was a steal and will unseat LW this year or next.
Jeff fisher invited Little to the Titans camp as a undrafted free agent.

it would be nice...
if we would use the Patriots formula. Anyone ever notice how NE gets so many draft picks? Its unreal. They have three second round picks this year! Four picks in the first two rounds, and pick #34 puts them picking twice before anyone in their division. Only Miami picks at #44(Washingtons original pick) before NE picks again at #47 and they still have pick #58. What would we do if we had all those picks? It will drive you crazy thinking about it. But, how did they really put themselves in a position to obtain all those picks. Its quite simple if you look at their transaction history. In short, they fill their roster BEFORE the draft with quality experienced veterans in the later part of their careers. Then use draft picks as extra players, making them easily expendable if not up to par while stacking the practice squad with talent. Their willingness to sign the Vinny Testaverdes’, Junior Seau’s, Fred Taylors and Joey Galloways of the world, is what allows them to backload their roster with the Matt Cassels, Mike Vrabels, and others who they use as trade bait. And that trade bait my fellow Titans fans is the reason they always get what they target in the draft. They knew what everyone else was doing in last years draft to the point that they traded down and still got what they wanted in Jerod Mayo. I put the Patriot formula to the test with whats available in free agency, and was surprised at the outcome. I first filled in the DE spot that would probably be rotated in the game 10-12 plays with Kevin Carter(experience). Looking at the corner position was a little less obvious with Samari Rolle available. In the end I decided I narrowed it to either Chris McAllister or Sam Madison. We need a tackle on the O-Line, Fred Miller, or Orlando Pace. Even Drew Bennett is available. I dont want him though. After filling those positions and then looking at the draft you could do whatever you wanted just ask New England. And that sure would be nice.
please no fred miller part 2
he is the lamont thompson of o-line.
It WOULD be nice...
If all those veteran players WANTED to come here. Everyone wants to go to New England so they can win a SB. I can’t wait to see their droopy faces when WE hoist the Lombardi.
Titans have their own formula for success!
Every year for the past 3 years MR and JF have upgraded our starters and added depth. Our defense is already SB quality. Don’t you think they know what has to be addressed now? CJ obviously was not the complete answer last year and we only need to look at the Ravens loss to know what will happen this year!
1) Rafael Little will push for the #2 RB spot and become a viable option when CJ goes down (and yes, look for a # 3 or 4 pick at RB in the draft.) 2) T Holt will be a Titan or we’ll spend a high pick on a rooklie WR. Along with Washington, Gage, and Hawk we’ll regain more balance on offense. 3) we’ll continue to add depth at most every position with bargain FA’s and DP’s.
Winkler?
Is Ulrich Winkler gonna stay with the Titans? It’s kidna weird some sources say he got cut, some say he is on the injury reserve…
Washburn will coach them up
Im not worried about our D-Line at all. I think Washburn will coach them up. We have anchors in KVB, Kearse, and Brown. We also have alot of high-motor young talents in Jones, Ball, and Ford. Im happy with our situation.

You really think...
that players dont want to play here? I dont know if I buy that one. I think its more of our teams refusal to spend dollars. Last year our glaring need was in the secondary. Do you believe that DeAngelo Hall would have turned us down(keep in mind we were undefeated at the time) to go to the Redskins? The man signed a 500,000 contract to play in Washington. Meanwhile we are relying on David Carr and Eric King??? Anyone else notice that when Carr started against the Jets he didnt return kickoffs? It killed us too. DeAngelo wouldve returned kicks, punts, and been able to cover on a slant-all things Carr didnt do that day. But I guess that all didnt happen because Hall didnt WANT to come here and play for an undefeated team. No. It didnt happen because we dont make moves to get players, unless you count trading late first round picks for early second round ones. We always trade the wrong way in the draft. For once Id like to see us trade up. And get a RECEIVER, but that aint going to happen so I guess Id settle for Vontae. And lets say we got Vontae, but in five years he wouldnt re-sign because veteran players dont want to play here?? More like we arent going to pay that contract.
Trade up this year!
Why couldn’t we trade our 3rd, 6th, and 7th round picks this year for the Vikings 22nd pick (I just read that they may want to do something like that)? How many rookies have a chance of making the squad this year? And our practice squad is always loosing the best to other teams. With the 22nd and 30th pick, we could get Harvin or Nicks and DJ Moore or another strong CB, who could actually start this year or next. Does this make too much sense? Or do we need 10 more developmental players?

Deal!
Im sure we would trade a 3rd, 6th, and 7th round pick for the 22nd pick, Minnesota would have to be stupid to do that though. If you look at the past draft grades on this site, you will see that when we get three or more starters out of a draft it was graded at an A. However if you were to tell me that we would get Percy Harvin and Darius Butler out of this draft I think that would be enough to grade out as an A. Realistically that is a stretch. I dont believe we need ten draft picks either. Out of the ten only three will play, three more will probably be practice squad and the other four will be cut. I say,"Pair em up, and trade em up. " Getting four or five players in the first four rounds would be the ideal draft to me as long as we did get what we were targeting. I might catch some heat for this one, but I think we should try and pair our first or second round pick with Lendale and try and trade up. Javon Ringer would be a good pick in the third.
