Quaterback opinions?
Who do you guys think should be the quarterback this year? In my opinion it should be vince. If we were to get devery henderson it would help vince out tremendously becuase devery is a guy who has good straightline speed. This would stretch the field allowing vince to run and open up more passing lanes underneath. Kerry was great this year but he really pissed me off from time to time with stupid interceptions i.e cleveland game and both houston games. The problem with vince is that the titans tried to turn him into a pocket quarterback. He is not that he is unique he should be making plays with hislegs when it is not their through the air. I also did not like the fact that kerry did not seem to care anything of teaching vince anything of being a game manager and limiting turnovers. I wish mcnair could have stayed a couple more years to do this for vince. Now dont get me wrong i am not just trying to favour vince he has some pretty dumb interceptions himself but he seems to want to put the effort to become a better quarterback and kerry is not giving him the attention he deserves.
Let me know what you guys think.

kc is good with me
if it wasn’t for a couple bonehead fumbles from alge and lendale, i firmly believe we would have gotten to the superbowl with kc. i hope vince puts the work in and proves the doubters wrong though.

i definately got vinces back
but you can’t deny what kc did for us this year, and when vince came in and played those games like the lions and the colts he really didn’t look that great, but he doesn’t have the receiving help i think he needs.

From a horns fan
I would love to see Vince do well…..but, it does not look that is going to happen. He tried to take himself out of two games. He quit on his teammates and on the fans. This will be his last year in Tennessee maybe even in the NFL. Hate to say that.

No he didn't

Uhhhhh.........yep.
Man, I was sure that Vince was gonna be the one that got us a Super Bowl Championship when we drafted him. I don’t know what has happened to him. I know I would love to see him prove me wrong, but I just don’t see it happening…..

This is getting really old...
How does this guy continue to get credit? He was impossibly average, yet he’s a Pro Bowler. Before the Steelers game, half the fan base was calling for his head.
“He doesn’t turn the ball over.”
That’s the cliche response. Give it a rest. It’s tired. Kerry was in the top ten in only INT%. He doesn’t get close to the top of the league in any other meaningful categories.
Raise your hand if you had Kerry Collins on your Fantasy Football team this year. If you did, I’m guessing you didn’t make the playoffs.
Kerry was 28 out of 32 passers in terms of TD% this year. 22 Quarterbacks had a higher rating. If he was on any other team, he’d be retiring this year. But, as it were, he was on a team with a nasty defense, a solid offensive line, and a great run game.
Kerry Collins is not the answer.
I’m not suggesting that Vince is the answer, but it’s evident to me that Kerry is slowing this team down. He’s serviceable, but he’s keeping this team from being elite.

Actually
I did have him on one of my teams, and I did make the playoffs. Take that.

Most of the second half of the season
Now for the full disclosure: It was a 12 team league that started 2 quarterbacks. The 2 I drafted were Palmer and Vince. Ended the year with Cassell and Collins.

Irrelevant
Nearly any qb in the league could have won with this team. The passing game will continue to be mediocre with him under center. I mean are we all watching the same guy/ looking at the same stats? I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

A big problem
with football these days… Too many people pay too much attention to fantasy-type numbers that players put up. People don’t even know how important players are to their teams cuz that’s all they do is read box scores.
We used to make the same argument for Vince with non-Titan fans. Vince’s numbers were garbage, but I didn’t care as long as he was helpin us win.

Upside from what?
His garbage ass numbers… So we will see 12 TDs and 20 Ints instead of what we last saw… Bottom line… He has done nothing to prove to me he can be a legit NFL passer.

i always go back and forth on this
debating whether we should take our chance with VY next year or with Collins. I now think I have made my final decision and am sticking to it, I believe it should be VY. We would probably win more games with Collins next year and that would be great, but it is not what is best for our future. We can not give up on a guy that we drafted third overall, we have to grind this out and get his confidence back. Vince is still the same amazing athlete, he just doesnt believe in himself anymore and neither do most titans fans. So regardless of if it makes us a better team for next year alone VY must be our starter next year or this franchise will have a major setback in a few years. I believe in you VY and hope you work your butt of this offseason.

I'm for
Kerry being the QB… I think more important than any stat was the way Kerry made the plays when we needed them the most. If not for fumbles in the playoffs we woulda been even happier w Kerry overall. He really only played 2 bad games… The Jet game, and the Texan game, the 2 games we lost, that should tell you how important he was to this team winning.
Kerry pissed you off w stupid ints? What did Vince do the year before?
When did the Titans try and turn Vince into a pocket QB? I’ve never seen this anywhere? I’m pretty sure Vince is the one that tried to turn himself into a pocket passer to prove some critics wrong.
I can’t believe anyone is willing to give up a chance at a Super Bowl and or winning more games next year just to make sure our 3rd overall pick succeeds down the road… That’s just crazy in my opinion.

It was evident to me
That chow completely messed up Vinces game. 2007 vs 2006 were night and day.
Back to Kerry, I constantly hear that he stepped up when it mattered most. Did anyone consider that he wouldn’t have had to “step up” if he’d just put us in a better position to begin with?
by SuperHorn on Feb 9, 2009 8:00 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Bro
we went 13-3… 13-2 as far as I’m concerned… Also, as far as I’m concerned he should have been the winning QB in the Bal playoff game if it wasn’t for everyone having too much butter on their pancakes and toast for breakfast that day. Kerry put us in a position to win games much more than to lose is just the way I see it.
It was evident to me that Vince’s head messed Vince up in 07

Time to move on
It’s time to realize that picking Vince was a huge mistake, and move on. He won some games for us with his legs, OK, but everytime that he alligned behind center i felt that something could go wrong. An interception, an overthrow, almost all the time.
Kerry did enough to deserve to start next season. With this defense and this running game, we need a QB who can make the right throws, and doesnt turn the ball over.
But one thing intrigues me. What would’ve happened if we had traded down some few spots, and got Jay Cutler?
"But do you know what happen in my defense? I named Smash 'n' Dash and after the Tennessee game it was aired, right? So, your Fans decided to Swagger Jack Me"

Yea lets draft type 1 diabetes
Vince will prove hes better that Cutler just gonna need more time to do it, Vince doesn’t have Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley, Darrell Jackson, Ben Watson, or Tony Scheffler, and maybe not the TE’s but fo sho the WR’s are all better than ours. Give Vince those guys and i guarantee he does the same if not better than Jay Suckler

I don't know
If I’d say it was a huge mistake yet… I just don’t think now is the time with a team like this that can actually win it all. He still needs time to develop. I definitely don’t see him going 12-7 Td to int ratio… Which is where a vet like Collins really helped us. Collins is doing well with what he’s being asked to do. He has always been asked to use his big arm and throw the ball down field all game, now he’s being asked to do it occasionally and thats working really well for us.
by Big Bad Bulluck on Feb 9, 2009 11:51 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
Collins has no upside
He has two years left in him at best. Starting him to win a few more games this year is a mistake, we need to put the future of our franchise back on the field to see if he can cut it or not. Kerry Collins did not do that much better than VY, for christ sake VY only had one year as our full time starter and that was with an offensive cordinator who didnt want to work with him. I understand your points Big Bad Bullock but if you want to have the opportunity to turn this franchise into a constant competitor for super bowls down the road VY needs to be our quarterback.
by Titansfan_559 on Feb 10, 2009 1:22 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
And if Vince can't cut it...
Then we waste next season which looks like it could be another good shot at a Super Bowl. 12 Tds to 7 ints while not Tom Bradyish is way better than the number Vince put up.

the only thing that gets me about our QB sisution is
lets say we sign Kerry Collins. I don’t want him automatically handed the Starting Job. What I really want is to see Collins, Young, and Sims to battle it out. I really would like to see what Vince can do, if he really learned anything. I would like to see- If VY can still blow people away, then lets see him bring us to the superbowl and prove everybody wrong. Or I want to see if 2006 was the fluke and and he really was a mistake. I mean, he really did look bad against the Colts. But then again, it was the Colts and they acted like he wasn’t planning to pass unless he had to. I still say that if we had an elite receiver then even Vince can make huge plays on the team. I think even Sims could do it. In fact, I think that Sims might even be the happy medium that could surprise every one. Either way, whatever the Titans decide to do will be making a statement.

I don' see Simms
ever being the starter here… I’m on the same boat as you as far as seeing an open QB battle. If Vince goes into preseason and really proves he’s the guy, I’m all for it. But since I’m being asked right now who should and will be the starter, I really see Kerry being the guy, and I feel that’s the way it should be.

Having this conversation again is like trying to piss up a rope.
Prediction: Collins is back, with VY and Simms fighting it out for the #2 spot.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t think Fisher likes VY all that much, so regardless, VY is done as a Titan. It is what it is.

I think you're right
While I have nothing concrete to go on, my gut tells me that Fish is done with Vince and/or is waiting on Vince to step up and prove him wrong. Until then, whether it be this offseason or next, Vince is our #2.
Simms will be gone, though. There are too many good #2 jobs out there.
by SuperHorn on Feb 10, 2009 1:34 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
what you can't piss up a rope??? LOL
Look this year i think they should let them battle it out in preseason and training camp, why give all that money to Vince if your not going to atleast give him a chance to start, what is Kerry Collins supposed to be untouchable because he went 13-2, i think not, cuz he definately aint a John Elway or Joe Montana, or Warren Moon, and last time i checked we lost in the 1st round of the playoffs, so its not like KC got us to the promise land, and i know its not all KC’s fault but he did throw that INT, which cost us points just like both of the fumbles. So my point is basically this, unless you are a franchise QB which KC is not, then you have no right to demand you be a starter or you will retire, thats like holding the whole team hostage, this ain’t a bomb threat this is football, and to me that is really a selfish act of KC.

Give Kerry Another Run...Keep Vince
Some of you already know how i feel bout KC, but now heres my take on Vince….
Does anyone remember the years we had before Vince. 5-11, 4-12
Then with the 3rd pick of the NFL draft the Titans select Vince Young of Texas
Rookie Year we start out 0-5 shit here we go again then the Fish lets Vince off of his leash and we finish 8-8 and I’m pretty sure a win against New England in Week 17 and we’re in.
Next Year Vince starts we go 10-6 which easily could have been 11-5 i know you remember that choke against San Diego in the regular season. Playoffs here we come damn loose to San Diego again…Anyways It may not be pretty it may be hard to watch but Vince can win….and thats all that matters….Plus now we go CJ…
Fisher+Vince+CJ+a receiver that isnt god awful if we ever get one+our D=Rings

KC vs Vince
Interesting reading the comments. I’m new here so be gentle the first day
Here’s my two cents. I am a die hard VY fan….however the fact is he was crappy althrough pre season and so rattled his first game he didnt want to play. I believe thats where fish lost confidence in VY along with his teammates. KC came in and went 13-3. With the same receivers everyone complains about. (don’t get me wrong ….I want harvin or Bey as well)
KC is solid…last time I checked his rating and numbers are close to Big Ben’s. Ratings/Stats are overrated. (except for turnovers and Win Loss)
I want to see VY play and i believe he can be great..but IMO he has to truly beat KC out and show he can lead. If you are trying to lead and no ones following you….your just out for a walk.
