Please trade Vince!!
Look, I am a huge fan of BOTH the Titans AND VY, but I don’t think those two things necessarily have to go together. It sure looks to me like Vince’s career with the Titans is done, and I think it would be best for both the Titan’s next season and for Vince’s career, if he were traded to another team.
And, I don’t think that reflects badly on either one of them. I am a University of Texas Ex still living here in Austin. I attended every home game Vince started as a Longhorn, and I have watched every Titan game I could manage to find at a sports bar in Austin for the last three years. I love watching the Titans play, with or without Vince. But, I am also very confident Vince can play ball at a high level in the NFL. I just don’t think his style of play and particular set of strengths are a good fit at all with the type of offense Fisher and the Titans run.
The Titans did the right thing bringing Kerry back for two more years. Unlike Vince, he is an excellent fit with the team’s style of offense, and his 2008 performance more than earned him the permanent starting job, the team’s confidence, and maybe even his $12M contract for the next two years. Unless Kerry falls off his tractor and breaks a leg, Vince is going to be riding the bench until he is traded or cut, anyway. So, why not do it now?
OK, OK, I have been reading MCM long enough to know what you are all going to say. Vince is not going to get traded now because: 1) the structure of his contract and the cap makes it impractical, 2) Bud Adams still supports him, and 3) there may not be any real market for him. I just hate to see a really talented guy spend another year or two on the bench. What a waste!! (Plus, selfishly, I love to watch him play.)
So, I am just asking, hypothetically, if there were some way to make it happen, don’t you all think that both the Titans and Vince would be better off if he were traded?

I totally agree.
If the Titans really think that Kerry Collins is the answer for 2 more years. They are mistaken. VY fans definitely want him out of Tennessee now. The answer for the Titans seems now to be trade Vince for some serious cash and keep Chris Simms as a backup.
Exactly
You have made my point, And, before everybody else in the league forgets, too, let’s get Vince back out in the light of day – somewhere.
Dont worry
Collins is a dinosaur! He will not make it another injury free year in this league even behind our STUD o-line. VY will be starting for us again by mid season if he doesnt win the job strait out of camp. Hypothetically speaking of course!
Someone once said "Vince Young bleeds two toned blue!" But I disagree, because The Great One Doesnt Bleed!!
Can somebody please post what is left on his contract?
I can see them making a trade, just not this offseason. He needs to prove in the preseason that he can play. He may get traded or released when the 53 man roster is made. I really don’t think he will play again as a Titan (unless Simms goes elsewhere).
Totally Agree
+1
Titans gave away leverage on Haynesworth last year. No idea how they get so many monkeys in front of so many typewriters to keep cranking out these embarrassing contracts. Um, best case scenario (?) Haynes has a poor 08 and we keep him (?). Worst case scenario, he does what he did and walks. And we get…..nothing.
How ridiculous is our secondary going to look next year when QBs have an extra 2 seconds? How do you think KVB will stand up to constant double teams? Ask Peyton the difference of playing scared when you play the Titans vs playing them in 2009.
hey Mike. Good job with the blocking TE pick in the third last year. Schmuck.
How about 2007. Chris Henry was a real steal.
But I totally understand why the Titans don’t trade those second or third picks to move up in the draft or for players we desperately need (WR, kick returner, CB). We get real value. I mean definitely more than say Vrabel and Cassel who were just dealt to the Chiefs for one 2nd round pick (34 overall).
Good idea not to overspend for a WR in free agency. Just let the only even marginally athletic WRs we have walk.
This is Major League, fellas. Bud is trying to go 0-16 and move the franchise to Florida.
Joke.
Trade VY. Now. It’s a crime how boring the Titans have been to watch given the intensity levels of KVB (red contacts and all), Vince (arguably the most exciting gazelle to ever play the game), CJ (faster than Deon), Albert (more CAT machinery than man), Griff (lights out) and Bulluck (most underrated player in the league). This should be the most exciting team in the league. Hmm. Why not?
That is quite possibly the most dumbass post I have seen on this site.
This team just went 13-3 and was a Ravens dirty hit job from away from winning the Super Bowl and you come on here and post that Bud is trying to go 0-16? Keep your stupid inbred opinions to yourself. I am all for intelligent conversation but that is just ignorant.
And this team is not going to do anything with Vince Young as long as the salary cap would take a hit. It just doesn’t make sense. We have been doing these “it’s just a hypothetical” posts for a full year now and it is just getting old and tired. Really tired.

Sorry
I never new you were such a die hard Chris Henry fan.
Which point, other than my explicitly sarcastic reference to Major League, did you have a problem with?
before you grammar police me
*knew
And I believe there should be quotes around “Major League”. Maybe that was the cause of your irate confusion.
Where's the whole
inbred thing come into play? I don’t see any racist comments, and missing teeth, any cousins date raping each other?

How is his post any more “dumbass” than yours? You do realize that if the Titans would have beaten the Ravens, they still had TWO more games they would have to play in and WIN before being labelled Super Bowl champions right? The Ravens weren’t even the best team they would have faced, and you are sitting there claiming that it was basically in the bag if the Titans would have beaten the Ravens. Seriously?

That Ravens game wasn't the Super Bowl?

i can't believe i'm defending front office again but....
all we have done the past few seasons (me included) is complain about our crappy offseasons. All the team has done in the regular season is gone from the 3rd pick in the draft to the best record in the league. Now, I would love to see us get/keep some big names. But I will take my chances with what fisher and reinfeldt are doing
I will also
take my chances w Reinfeldt and Fish… Still doesn’t change the fact that there wasn’t anything that bad in that post…

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

KingDick needs to find something to do that has something to do with people that actually want to have dialogue with him.

No crying...
Nobody here wants to hear from you… You’re comments aren’t clever enough to get under anyone’s skin or anything… We just don’t wanna hear your opinions on anything because you don’t seem very knowledgeable or have anything good to add to conversation… So why are you over here wasting yours and our time?

no one would give us anything valuable for vy
and the cap implications of trading him now would almost the same as cutting him which is to say bad.

What do you not get about it?
This is a Titans site.
You are a Colts fan.
There isn’t a team in the league I personally hate more than the Colts (other than maybe the Ravens) so I wouldn’t ever go over to YOUR site and coerce with the enemy. I might catch a disease over there.

Oh no, I get it. The problem is, that doesn’t mean anything. I can post here all I want, so deal with it.

He's right, Titansfan_559
We need to be thankful that we have a community here that no matter if you are a fan of another team and disagree with the moderator, you do not get banned and reported to SB Nation.
So he does have a point, and I am fine with it. Even though he is a fool.

Hey! Start your own post...
if you want to debate whether or not wayward Colts fans should be over here.
I was trying to get a feel for whether folks thought that if Vince could be traded, he should be. I’ve heard enough, so let’s just draw this one to a close.
I’ll end it by saying that I understand that there is probably no way he can or will be traded this year. In truth, I think the most likely outcome is that he will ride the bench one more year, that journalistic genius David Climer will continue to take pot shots at him once every two weeks for things he did last year, and he will be cut at the end of the season.
For a VY fan, that situation is just very unfortunate and frustrating. I think my original post was out of frustration more than anything else.
Thanks to those of you who replied on topic.
Let's be smart about this. VY: play him or trade him!

Let me apologize to you personally for getting off topic on your original fanpost
Since the Vince Young situation has not been discussed here over and over and over and over and over, we just didn’t know how to act.
Sorry again.
Hey, what do you think about the Vince Young situation?
