It's official- Titans name Chuck Cecil Defensive Cordinator
Titans promoted secondary coach Chuck Cecil to defensive coordinator.
A former onetime Pro Bowl strong safety and vicious hitter, Cecil was fined several times for helmet-first hits during his playing days. Coach Jeff Fisher is defensive minded and the scheme won't change, but Cecil will bring nastiness to the position formerly held by new Lions coach Jim Schwartz. Its seems he will be more like Gregg Williams than Jim Schwartz what do you think?
[UPDATE from Jimmy]- Here is the story on the official site. Press conference at 3.

Offense is for scholars.
Defense is for mad-dogs, and I think that’s what Chuck will bring. He’s already got a rep as a fiery guy who players love and respect. He’s young enough to identify with the new school of players and hard-nosed enough to get respect from the old school guys.
I feel bad for the first guy who pulls up rather than lays the wood on an opponent, because Cecil is liable to kill ’em.

Yup.
Coach Boom (Will Muschamp) brought it to Texas. The players eat it up.

Man I miss watching Muschamp stalk the sidelines at Auburn...
he’s a trip.

even his name is mean
chuck cecil. its a self fulfilling prophecy he was a hard hitting safety. just like colt mccoy was meant to play qb for texas.

i wish i had a clue about this guy
i know he was BAMF back in his playing days. i hear he’s pretty intense. beyond that though, nothing.
will he blitz more? zone or man in the secondary? does he like to use a nickel back? im blank on all of these issues. can we expect any significant strategical changes? i only guess time will tell. our secondary is unspeakably better than it was during the dark years, and he has clearly done a top notch job with finny and griff.

I would be willing to bet that we see very few, if any, changes to defensive scheme.

Secondary Coach?
I would think Marcus Robertson, who I think coaches the safeties would take over as secondary coach

He was promoted at the same time Cecil was.
And an assistant from UCLA was added to fill his old spot.

He looks like a beast
I hope we blitz a little bit more. It would be nice to see Bullock do a sack dance

By the way, 559, nothing personal, but this site has been bombarded by trolls (mainly Squeeler fans) who come over here to talk trash and can't spell Bulluck. So we are sensitive to it.
I saw an autographed Keith Bulluck jersey on eBay the other day that the guy guaranteed tha it was authentic.
The only problem was that Keith was spelled Kieth on the autograph. No wonder it was cheap!

awesome!
the one thing that stood out to me yesterday watching his interview is how grateful he is to have this opportunity. that type of motivation translates into intense loyalty and determination to succeed. he knows this is his chance of a lifetime and most men who are true warriors take this fight with a determination that can take everyone to the next level. I like Jim but he was too methodical and laid back. cecil is going to get our men ready to eat nails and play with the intensity that can elevate our D into that #1 slot in the NFL. I hope for the best and believe this can be a very good change. Looking forward to his leadership style and work ethic rubbing off on our guys. I also hope our GM realizes that we need to retain big AL and then re can “reload” as cecil put it yesterday and make another run for the championship.
