The Draft

Well the season's not over quite yet, but if I think its fair to say that we won't make the playoffs this year. That being said it's never to early to begin looking towards the draft. It's seems like we will get our pick somewhere in the middle of the pack.

What area of need would you like to see taken care of in the draft?

Personally, I hope that we go for a cornerback in the first round and if he's still around I certainly hope that we take Joe Haden from Florida.

Not sold on a CB

We definitely need to fix our secondary, but I’m not sure we need to draft another CB. We drafted two last year and I’m not ready to give up on them just because they didn’t perform well when Fisher threw them to the wolves.

I think simply signing and starting Hood or some other vet besides Harper would be a huge step. We need to sign someone who will make an impact. Maybe a D-Linemen? I’m sure KVB & Kearse will be gone after this season, so we will need depth.

I Don't care if we are in the middle. I want Suh!

He IS the best defensive tackle in the whole college country. He is big and athletic and I want him.

Suh?

I’m thinking more about Cody from Bama. Kinda reminds me of Big Al

I am with King on this one

Suh is a beast he is like the version of Big Al that does not take plays off, while Mount Cody seems to take even more plays off than Al did.

even if we lose all our games

we will not be in a position to draft suh. he will be a top 3 pick.

hard to pass on a guy (if by some act of god he's caught using ganja and slips to the mid-to-early picks)

whose name means “House of Spears” in cambodian or some crazy language like that. we want SUH!

We need the best defensive players available in each round..mostly CB though.

Lets get some young stud playmakers in the secondary and on the line. If we improve there, we will be a very dangerous team from the beginning of the season..hopefully lol.

I’ll take our WRs. I’ll take our TEs. I’ll def take our RBs and VINCE as QB.

So just draft all over in every other position and grab best available talent. Lets get some depth and ofcourse re-sign KB. I’d like to see a ball hawk opposite Finny.

CB/Kick Returner would be good. I don’t want to see Britt injured running the ball back all the time, hes too important in the passing game.

This isn't a need really, but..

I would love to see us wind up Dexter McCluster somehow. He is like a jr. version of CJ. Those two together would be a terrifying tandem.

by J3G77 on Dec 7, 2009 1:54 PM CST reply actions

You know the way we draft sometimes makes a guy scratch his head...

so this very well may be possible, hell they might even draft spiller form clemson in the first, and then we would have 2-CJ’s that way too.

I am not saying I would do this but weirder things have happened

by bullrider73 on Dec 7, 2009 3:47 PM CST up reply actions

You know I think we will draft a no name player like we did CJ, and Britt. None of us really new who CJ was and when he got drafted im pretty sure every Titan fan said WTF who is this guy? Britt I had heard of but he also didnt come from a big time program. So I look for us to do that again

by Dont worry bout it on Dec 7, 2009 6:25 PM CST reply actions

Any position

other than QB or RB, I mean we just need to take the most talented player available. We’re aging at O-line (Mawae), D-line could use more play makers ( I would kill for SUH), the secondary speaks for its self, and a reciever wouldn’t hurt.

AGRIFF

by AGRIFF on Dec 7, 2009 6:45 PM CST reply actions

Eric Berry, Suh, or Spiller

Eric Berry is a very good DB and he has the hitting abilities of a saftey and the coverage abilities of a CB……But I would also agree the CJ Spiller could be a steel. He is great at PR and KR. AGRIFF said wide reciever wouldnt hurt and thats true cuz Spiller is more like a Reggie Bush with the saints and it would be great to sub a CJ with a CJ who run similar and both have blazzin speed! I see Spiller playing more WR than anything. Think about a wildcat with CJ, Vince and Spiller! UNSTOPPABLE! And Suh was making double and tripple teams from Texas look like a high schooler was blocking him. (and I’m admitting that as a Horn fan)

by cj-beastmode on Dec 7, 2009 7:55 PM CST reply actions

DT is the way to go

Suh or Gerald McCoy from OU will be gone but there is great depth at that position and we still need someone to replace Big Al.

Everything starts with D-Line

If Marks turns out to be a force then great… but I think we should draft a game changer at either DT or DE.. (anyone know who all the top ones are?)

We have a good D-line…but adding a beast has a trickle down effect on the lb and cb positions.

I think Mouton has the talent, I wish he wouldnt have been thrown in early. I bet they start playing him at the end of the season to get him some experience.

over all, just the best player on the board defensively….a BEAST.

Mel Kiper's Big Board

10 of Kiper’s top 25 players are on the D-line including the top 2 (Suh and McCoy) so this would be a great to draft to get someone like that.

Sergio Kindle will be a stud in the NFL.

But, he’s tailor made as a hybrid DE/LB, and wouldn’t fit our scheme.

by SuperHorn on Dec 8, 2009 12:16 PM CST up reply actions

Hopefully he'll end up as an OLB in a 3-4 somewhere and will DOMINATE

Staying with the horns, I think that Houston would make a great replacement for KVB. With the depth on DL this year, I think we could steal him in the 3rd.

If you don’t know, he was a beast of a RB in high school, eventually moved to DE, then to DT with the horns. He’s built like KVB, with the same motor, is versatile and just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.

Safety or CB in the 1st, Houston in the 3rd, some OLB and OL after that and we’re done.

Look at small school guys too

The Titans have a long and successful history of drafting guys from FCS schools and below (see McNair, Finny, etc). I’d like to draw your attention (b/c I am admittedly biased) to two guys playing against each other this weekend in the FCS semis, Armanti Edwards of Appalachian State and Marc Mariani of Montana. Edwards, a QB, may well become the first two-time winner of the Payton award (FCS version Heisman). He’s got it all, speed, good arm, smarts, all around mad skills and a proven winner. The only catch is he is “too short” for a big league QB, which honestly I am sick of hearing as an excuse. Brees anybody? Think that’s holding him back? Didn’t think so. He may not project as an NFL QB, but he’s got undeniable football talent and a good head on his shoulders. As for Mariani, an All-American WR, he’s built entirely in the Wes Welker mold, smallish but fast, great routes, and best of all for us, a killer punt and kick returner. I’ve got love for Hawk, but I believe Mariani could be a great slot type receiver that would serve the Titans well. It’s way too early to talk about later round guys, but I’m just sayin…And hey, Fisher’s a Montana guy (loved the props in Arizona post-game!), so it’s not out of the question.

is it just me?

or shouln’t we be looking for a big time D end? we have tony brown, jason jones, and marks is still in the works at tackle. no need to be trying to chase the next albert, we have some very good young guys. our interior run d is solid, what we don’t have is a dynamic pass rusher off the edge. KVB simply can’t get it done as the #1 guy, and we really dont have any young guys that i’m crazy about. i think defensive end has to be the #1 priority.

by hal41605 on Dec 8, 2009 11:17 AM CST reply actions

If Suh is miraculously there when we pick, you have to take him.

And, I think this FO would. As we’ve seen in each of the past three drafts, they are more about best available than anything else.

In my opinion, a DT can have the largest impact on the defense if you have a stud at the position. Julius Peppers can’t carry a defense. Albert Haynesworth can.

by SuperHorn on Dec 8, 2009 12:21 PM CST up reply actions

I too think Suh will be gone, but it sure is nice to imagine him in two toned blue

As fro DE what do you guys think about Dunlap from Florida, he is a speed rusher that can make big plays, I know he had some off the field issue with drinking and driving, but other than that I think he is pretty clean

by bullrider73 on Dec 8, 2009 2:41 PM CST up reply actions

I've read

he is lazy and has work ethic issues

by zero defects on Dec 8, 2009 10:49 PM CST up reply actions

i think..

we need a stud opposite hayes….I like him….then rotate whoever is left out of ford, kvb, ball

Peppers is up for FA

but….if there is a gamechanger DT in the first round and not DE I say we take the DT and drop Vickerson or Haye. That just makes our rotation stronger.

I could see where they might even use jones at DE…he played both in college I think.

by zero defects on Dec 8, 2009 10:48 PM CST up reply actions

actually.....

i would like to see vickerson develop here if the price is cheap enough. hes got the size no doubt and he looks to have a little bit more quickness than big al (everybody seems to be looking to replace him). the time hes been in there ive seen some good things, coming off the block well, effiecient tackler, etc. i think him and t brown would be a killer starting combo.

because of him being a “RB that could throw”, i dont think fans will embrace Tebow’s style??? maybe if you think like joy kat then both of these choices are ok. (not a shot at you, just sayin)

Well, every team needs to have a solid back up QB.....

I’m just not sold on KC to fill that role…not after what happened the first 6 games of this year.

by titansfan4ever on Dec 12, 2009 9:30 AM CST up reply actions

this is true.....

a solid qb is needed, but i think those two will go with a hefty pay day come draft time, and i would hope they spend some of that money on keeping vince young as our qb. i would expect them to find a good free agent, but remember we are stuck with KC’s contract for another year, b/c of his “i need to be the starter” bullshit.

no way CM drops to the titans

he’s a top 10 pick and since 2 out of the last 3 games are very winnable, i think that we should end up with something like 8-8. that lands us with a middle of the pack pick at…ill say 14 overall. plus, we’ve already got a qb, vy’s hurt but not forever. i still want either suh or berry and since i think suh might just be number 1 overall, berry might be who we end up taking.

michael vick could even be a potential solid back up.

he is just like vy. who better to come in and still be able to help cj keep stacking rushing yds because of the threat of his run. i dont think the titans are the type of franchise to sign vick, but if u think about it, he would be perfect to back up vy. but then again there would always be the qb controversy. either way i like booty to be a solid back up for years to come.
