Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young named AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Tennessee Titans QB Vince Young earned the recognition of AFC Player of the Week for Week 12. Young threw for a career high 387 yards in the thrilling 20-17 last second win over the Cardinals. He also completed a career high 27 passes on 43 attempts. This is the second time this year a Titan has earned this award (Chris Johnson in Week 8) , and also the second time Young has gotten this honor during his career (Week 16, 2006).

"Waiting for the return of the Mac"
"Let VY loose, give him the chance to play his heart out. for himself, for the titans...and for mcnair"
"Titans & Texans fan, dont bug me w/your petty b.s., life's confusing enough."
Whipped out my calculator, thought I should share
Here are some interesting offensive team stats comparing the six games under Collins and the five with Vince Young.
I have a theory that the defense is playing better, in part, because the offense has held on to the ball longer (which suggests longer rest for the defense and, by nature, less opportunity for the other team’s offense to score). I decided to take a quick look at Titans team offense stats, to see if they might support my hunch. Here’s what I found.
(for ease of calculations, I rounded all times down to the minute)
Time of Possession, 6 games under Collins: 25.0 min/game
Time of Possession, 5 games under Young: 31.8 min/game
First Downs, 6 games under Collins: 15.66/game
First Downs, 5 games under Young: 19.2/game
FYI...
Stampede Blue has a post about why they aren’t buying in on VY just yet. It really mostly boils down to the small “sample size” and the teams they’ve played. I think the thing they’re missing is the quality of throws he’s made and the decisions he’s making. Regardless, we’ll see come Sunday, and I’ll see it first hand from Lucas Oil Stadium. I’ll be the guy in the VY jersey. :)

Quote of th day
"I think not because it was cool to see him do it, but just the reminder that he had done it before in such classic fashion," said Carroll. "It’s pretty remarkable stuff. Pretty remarkable play. Just to see what Vince has done since he’s come back in and started, you know."
USC Coach Pete Carroll after watching the Titans 99 yard scoring drive against the Cardinals.
