Titans 34 49ers 27: Quick Recap

Having the secondary healthy/competent makes a big difference.  The Titans still had one bad breakdown in coverage today, but overall they have played a lot better the past 2 games and it makes the whole defense look better.

Vince Young was efficient once again finishing 12-19 for 172 yards including a beautiful deep ball to Justin Gage.  He really looks like he has taken the time to grow in this offense and understand what the coaches expect from him.  He isn't making any stupid throws like he did in the past, and today he did it against a good defense.

And what can you say about Chris Johnson?  He had another huge game today with 25 carries for 135 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He made the second touchdown run on his own after a stupid play call on 4th and inches.

This is what a win streak looks like.  August and I will have a lot more to say about this game tonight on MCM Radio at 9 p.m.  Click here to join the fun.

Wonder if mmamcneill will come back to take his medicine..

I Do Agree!

Where is that nice Mr. Mmamcneill from Niners Nation? I was so hoping he would join us for our post- game thread since he brings such brilliant analysis and insight into our discussions. It’s really quite rare to have some one of his intellectual stature from another team here with us.

Just a guess. Also special shoutout to all the niners fans that said they could contain Chris Johnson. I guess you could consider not 200 yards “contained”.

Dangerous line of thinking

We’d still have Kerry, and maybe not give Vince the chance he needs. Just enjoy the win.

not entirely

he’s always had a winning record in the nfl, but this time around it’s because he is playing well and not making the costly mistakes. if you add the rushing td he had today to his passing stats, he’s a 114.3. vince is finally putting it all together and playing smart, effective football.

So I just watched the high lights and..........

You know that awesome grab by Gage that we all thought was a great catch but a crappy throw? Well in the High light reel Britt is running a crossing route behind Gage. Kinda makes me think VY might have been aiming for him and Gage just snagged a hell of a catch.

What Niners Nation is saying about VY

So I went over to snoop on the Niners Nation post-game thread, just to see what Mr. Mmamcneill was saying (I did not post anything – I’m no troll.). But, I did find this interesting post by one of their other fans (SpurredOn):
""One reason our pass rush was casual was due to the fear of over-rushing and allowing VY to beat us with his legs. Like the QB draw for a TD. We also played mostly zone so that we wouldn’t get caught in man coverage with Young running for yards behind us. That would have been different with Collins back there, to say nothing of his being an INT guy."
"".

by JimR on Nov 8, 2009 8:54 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Yes!!! the planets are aligning

Its time VY put some fear into the defense! Its time someone fear our offense for a change!!

The key is focusing on getting CJ the rushing title

Vince is the icing on the cake if he can continue to grow.

Colst Fan here; Congrats to you and your team on a big win

This makes one wonder what would your record be if Fisher had put VY to start a few games earlier?
Man CJ is a beast wow got a love an amazing RB, I just cant believe we held him to just 34yards. guess we got lucky , anyway here to wish you all keep winning. well until the colts game i must say :)
By the way your team is undefeated since Fisher wore #18 jersey , maybe he got some of our luck .

Hey suzzi....

your team got L-U-C-K-Y today…they should have lost that game to the Texans!! (Oh how FAR the Colts have sank).

by titansfan4ever on Nov 8, 2009 10:33 PM CST up reply actions

as FAR as 8-0 we are doomed

and yes luck is part of the game, a 56yarder kick was blocked but texans got L-U-C-K-Y as a timeout was taken, then we got L-U-C-K-Y when he missed the 42yarder at the end of the game , anyway it wasnt a winning kick it was to send the game to OT. but hell as another fan said “if the dog dont stop to shit it would have caught the rabbit”.

i just came to give props to your team for a great game today.

by thebossuzzi on Nov 8, 2009 10:49 PM CST up reply actions

rec'd....

but there’s alot fo season left. If beating the Texans was soooo close, can they continue to win?

by titansfan4ever on Nov 8, 2009 10:55 PM CST up reply actions

they'll be good

i think our offense needs to find its mojo back , we should have come out of the 1st half with a bigger lead. i thing to remember is our injuries this week , we were missing 5 starters and big playmaker RB (Brown), and we still found a way to win, finally we have a defense maybe when Gonzo, Brown and heyden returns we get the offense mojo back in time for the playoff run, i hope we get at least Brown back for next week against the patriots we might get L-U-C-K-Y one more time.

by thebossuzzi on Nov 8, 2009 11:08 PM CST up reply actions

Hey, it's still a "W" ...right?

Plus, it’s always tough to bet against Peyton. He ranks right up there with the best.

A TOAST...my friends.....

to the Tenn Titans…WOW!! Major PROPS to our defense today!!! They really came to play today (west coast or no west coast!!). AND, it looks like I was right after all…the “old” Vince Young IS back!! Gentlemen, buckle up your seat belts…cause he & CJ are getting ready to take you all on one heck of a ride!! What a wonderful feeling…I’m HAPPY again!! I need to apologize to Gramsey for the misunderstanding about the “texan troll” remark. I didn’t realize what you were talking about until mmam(agram)McNeil showed up. And may I just say that I thought that the way in which you & MrNorth dealt with him was rather refreshing (to say the least). I would LOVE to converse with him again…ah..but I fear he really IS a big PUSSY!! Oh yeah…and T-Rac…oh my friend, I wouldn’t forget about you…why your insight about VY was most enjoyable (and accurate, too.) I think they should hire you as Asst. Coach!! I can’t wait to see the next game…NOW THIS, my friends…is EXCITEMENT!!!

Great game!

Man, Frank Gore is a BEAST. If the 49er’s had just commited to running it right down the Titans’ throats in the 3rd QTR, they’d have won the game. He was killing! The biggest mistake they made was going away from what was working and putting the ball back in the air. No reason for that at all, and Smith kept throwing picks.

Another good game from VY. He really does look like he’s putting it all together. It’s amazing, but I’m starting to believe he can actually be a good NFL QB.

Great game

As everyone has said so far… CJ is a beast and continues to impress, VY is slowly but surely revealing his potential and becoming the type of QB we need. and Rod Hood is way better than Nick Harper, nice to get a W now lets get ready for Buffalo.

I disagree a little bit...
He made the second touchdown run on his own after a stupid play call on 4th and inches.

I was screaming stretch Chris to the left and that’s what they did. I thought it was an excellent call since you know Chris can beat even the fastest super hero to the corner. I loved the call.
