Race to Playoffs
Playoffs!!!??? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs?
Well, if the TItans keep winning the ghost of Mora past will be with us for awhile. Today the entire AFC North lost, which was good for us (sorry Colts haters) because three of the four teams in that division were in front of us in the playoff line. All three of those teams are still in front of us, but are now one game closer.
As soon as we lose a game, this is pretty much all moot, but so far the weekend has shaped up pretty well for us. If only the Bills could have managed to have a peak against the Jaguars, but no such luck...

PLAYOFFS?!?!?!
You’re 3-6. There are no 3-6 teams making anything resembling a push for the playoffs. Including you. You’ll be lucky to win 4 games this year.
Lucky to win 4?
You are an idiot.

Lucky to win four more...?
Then I’d perhaps buy in. Still hoping to get back to .500, though.

at least wait until we're 6-6
before we bring up playoffs
I'M DISRESPECTFUL TO DIRT!! CAN YOU SEE THAT I AM SERIOUS?
GET OUT OF MY WAY, ALL OF YOU. THIS IS NO PLACE FOR LOAFERS. JOIN ME OR DIE. CAN YOU DO ANY LESS?
I would
but I have to think about it to know who I’m rooting for when I watch other AFC games ;-). Also folks posting along the lines of “dang wish the colts would lose a game” when they are playing teams like Baltimore make it really hard for me not to post playoff math.
But point taken, shall cease and desist.
indeed
Nice weekend for Titans slim playoff chances. Obviously gotta win tomorrow, but next weekend could be very interesting if they do. Bills win over Miami (not too likely); Steelers over Ravens (we’ll see), Giants over Denver (definitely!), Texans loss to Colts (most likely) and Jacksonville loss on road to 49ers (quite possibly).
Definitely hoping for Titans win tomorrow now that they finally freakin got VY in there.

Even 10-6 this year will be too little for a wild card I'm thinking.
Unless alot of AFC teams just collapse, I don’t see 10-6 being good enough for a wild card shot.
Hopefully it is, because that is the best I think the Texans can hope for, but I still doubt it.
AFC is just too talented this year.

Who do you figure is going to be 11-5?
Titans Blogger at Music City Miracles even though gramsey hates it.
Looking at it right now....
I think that Pittsburgh makes 11 wins. They have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way with the exception of one game.
Cincy also has a softball schedule for the most part.
So one of those teams wins their division and the other has 11 wins.
Denver has an outside shot at 11 wins if they can get out of their slump.
So looking at it, there may actually be room for one 10-6 team to get in. I just don’t see the Titans getting a sweep from here on.
You have five teams on your schedule in contention for playoff spots. Houston, Miami, Indianapolis, San Diego and Arizona.
I just don’t see you getting through that without at least one loss. That is a tough road for any team.
Impossible? Theoretically, no.
But then again, theoretically, neither is time travel or teleportation.

I don't think we are running the table
or getting in the playoffs either, but I think both wild cards are 10-6 this year at best.
And how can you talk about softball schedules for the Bengals and Steelers after they lost to the Raiders and Chiefs yesterday?
Titans Blogger at Music City Miracles even though gramsey hates it.
And the Steelers lost Rothlesburger to an injury.
Who are they gonna beat without Big Ben in the line-up? If not KC, then who, exactly, are they better than?

Is he out for the season? Haven't been keeping up with that situation.

I don't know.
I’ve got a voodoo doll with pins in it, but I can’t tell if it’s working. There’s no plug, and it didn’t come with instructions.

I don't think he'll be out for the season.
But, he took a nasty shot to the head yesterday. I’d be shocked if he played next week.
You have to look at those as anamolies though.
You can’t say they gave up easy wins therefore their schedules are now hard.
Both teams had a let down. Both teams are really good football teams.
Those games are the exception not the rule. So I think you have to assume that they are not going to give away another easy one.

That's wrong.
A lot of teams started hot and look cooler now that injuries are coming along. I think a 9-7 team will make it in. That 9-7 team probably WILL NOT be the Titans because of tie-breakers (too many AFC loses), but still… There’s a LOT of bad football out there.
DannoE
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
I agree with this.
The way teams are playing now, I think one 9-7 team gets in. Right now, the teams leading the wildcard race are 6-4, a .600 winning percentage. If they keep that winning percentage up, we can expect 9 or 10 wins total.
And, that’s saying that they will continue their success. The three teams that are the Jags, Steelers and the Broncos. The Texans are 5-4. All of those teams have issues, and I think that getting 10 wins is a lot easier said than done.
Well whatever happens, I think the AFC playoff picture is going to be clear as mud right up until the end.

No way in hell a 9-7 team go this year.
Just no.

I don't think so either
but possible.
I doubt the Titans could win out the season in any case, and they have so many AFC losses that even if they do they could likely get edged out by another 10-6 team. It’s definitely going to be an interesting wild card competition this year.

The Titans are gonna get beat by the Colts, regardless of what else happens.
Bad Secondary Play + Peyton Manning = End of the Dream.
That said, I can EASILY see the Broncos finishing the season under .500 and the Steelers going on a MAJOR slide if Big Ben misses any time. I simply cannot imagine them winning a game without him.
In fact, of all of those teams, I’d pick the Jags to finish at a strong 9-7 and make an improbable playoff run. They can at least run the ball and stop the run, and that tends to be what wins games late in the season.
DannoE
"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."
Even worse for the Steelers.
If Big Ben can’t go, Charlie Batch has an injured wrist that will sideline him. That means Dennis Dixon will get the nod. Yikes.
Who? lol...

Our playoff hopes may be unrealistic..
…but trying to wreck every teams playoff hopes that are in our way, isn’t. Starting with the Texans tonight.
