(on what kind of cars he'll get for his offensive line)
I never promised cars or anything like that. They said they wanted cars..I've got to think of something nice. I gave them 55 inch flatscreen TVs last year, so I'm not sure. I've got to do something better than TVs.

(on giving 110 inch TVs for going 2000 yards)
Naw, them expensive!

WTH? Pretty sure he promised them cars.

yea i distinctly remember him promising cars.

cmon cj, no one likes a promise breaker. but of course the liklihood of him breaking 2000 yds is slim to none.

so if he misses the 130 yds one week he will have to work extra hard the following week.

now i will gladly retract my statement if he goes completely man on a team and breaks 300 yds on a team and takes aps most yds in one game record.

FROM some reason i really see him puting up 300 yards in a game this season .. and that means adrain will have to take a back seat

Yup

Here it is: http://www.tennessean.com/article/20091104/SPORTS01/91104068/Chris-Johnson-promises-cars-for-Titans-linemen-if-he-hits-2-000

He said that he never said he’d buy them cars- he said that THEY said they WANTED cars if he got 2000 yards. But, from the above:

"It’s a goal of mine," he said. "It’s really a goal of the offensive linemen because I told them if I get to 2,000 yards I’d buy them all a car. They want me to get 2,000 yards more than I want to get it.’’

He says he'd buy them all a car ...

… so, he could mean that he’s buying one car for all of them to share. I’m sure the O-line will be bickering all the time about who gets to drive the Civic this coming week.

In CJ's defense...

Technically, there’s not a “promise” in his statement. Now, had he said I’ve promised to get them all a car if I reach 2000 yrds, or some variation of that .. then that’d be an all out promise. I guess it’s so close, it’s really just splitting hairs. lol

oh noes!

Don’t waffle on the reward right before the big Monday night game!

If he's got job and a $149

then he can head on down to Carnival Kia! A please / don’t you leave / till you see that guy who openly flaunts child labor laws.

haha

somehow that commerical seems to show 33 1/2 times when the Titans game is on tv.

It sounds like a promise to me. If he meets the goal, then he has a lot of thanking to

do and a car would probably be about right. He doesn’t need to buy Porshe’s just a decent car. My son came home today and said he won a bet at school with a friend, but the friend is trying to get out of it. A carton of milk was the stakes. I know the reward in his bet is really nothing but its about owning up to a bet or in this case a promise to buy a car. Do the right thing CJ.

crappy part is,

he makes less than everyone on the line other than Amano.

wow.

cj is seriously underpaid. who the hell is his agent?

by vancouverTITAN on Nov 19, 2009 11:39 PM CST up reply actions

I understand what you're getting at

But shouldn’t that be how it is?

An (at the time) unproven rookie should never make more than proven NFL veterans.

Now he’s proven himself and deserves a bump.

yea his total contract is only worth like 10 mil right?

i forsee him holding out this offseason and forcing bud to give him a nicer contract.

by TitansFanForever on Nov 19, 2009 6:12 PM CST reply actions

I'd rather

him do that and we lock him up after this season then next year and so on when his price get’s out of control…
