I don't made the late games..
But, I wonder why they chose to flex this game. Was it just because it quite possibly could be more entertaining than some of the others, or for some other reason.
They haven't flexed this game
They moved it to the afternoon slot. Only afternoon games have the option of being flexed to Sunday night (ie moved to primetime where more fans will see it). The fact that they moved it implies that the NFL is considering flexing the game to the evening.
It remains to be seen, however, although it would be exciting (from a non-Titans/Cardinals-fan’s perspective) to see CJ and Fitzgerald at the same time in prime time.
No
The night game is not changing. I cut that part of the announcement off.
They did flex this game. The late games are actually the prime time games for FOX and CBS. There are fewer games so they are seen in more markets. They probably did this because there is some star power in this game with the Cards and VY/CJ.

Yup.
NBC has the right to grab games for the Sunday Night game, but at the same time, CBS and FOX each have the right to protect a game each week that they don’t want to lose. Most likely this game was protected by CBS and flexed for that reason.

The game will actually be on FOX
When we play home games against NFC teams it is carried on FOX.

Ahh, I see
I was under the impression that “flex” only applies to games that are moved to NBC on Sunday night. The NFL has changed the times of games in the afternoon with the 12-day rule since before flexible scheduling was ever implemented.
Either way, I’ll be in 306 that day and every other day the Titans are in town with my 33 jersey and a $7 beer.
I'm not fond of the afternoon slot...
But it makes it a LOT more likely that I’ll get to see the game here in Cleveland where they will show any number of sucky games instead of ones I want to see in the rare event that Cleveland isn’t playing the same time as the Titans…
And if Cleveland’s not playing? Oh, then I get treated to Steeler, Bengal, and Ravens games… if I’m REALLY lucky I get Buffalo or Chicago….
Not real fond of the late games
It means killing time all morning and getting back to Cleveland, TN around midnight.
