Vince Young = Third Season?
Hello all just a quick question
It is said that the biggest jump in a quarterbacks efficiency and capability comes in his third season. While Vince has been in the league for 4 seasons now is it a long shot to think of this time now as his third season? I realize he has had his troubles with coverages and everything but while he has he has still maintained an ability to lead and to win.
His record as a starter now sits at 21-11
Doing the math 21-11 comes out to 32 games or roughly two full seasons of game experience so is this the progression in its due timing that should have been expected? Or is he really as late to the party as some had believed?

This is really his 3rd year in my opinion..
and he’s really coming into his own and I want him to be our franchise QB..no questions asked. You can tell he’s worked hard while watching the other QB (I don’t even want to say “the other guy’s” name anymore).
Some of you say its too early and we should see how he plays the rest of the season and blahblah..No. He’s got a skill set that no other QB in the league has, his throws might not be perfectly accurate every time, but with the combination of his strength, speed, and canon arm make him a very dangerous QB for opposing defenses. Mix in some CJ, decent WRs, and a solid defense ’n we got a Playoff/Superbowl Caliber team every year for the next 10 years (barring major injuries of course).
The true test will be the next 4 games, but I say regardless of how he plays (unless he throws 4 picks 5 games in a row), he’s only going to get better. I think he’s ready to be the leader of this team for many years to come. He’s not late, he’s right on time.

i agree
i would like for vince young to be our guy for the future. if he can get his passing accuracy up more (which he has this year) then he is not just a good qb but a great qb. sure he isnt putting up eye popping numbers, but what do u expect when u play on the same team as chris johnson. his presence alone makes the entire team better. and i think the team has not given up on him. as long as he continues to take care of the ball, then he will stay and we wont have to waste more money and draft picks on a new qb. of course we will need a late rounder or undrafted free agent qb to be his back up.

good stuff bro.....
really good stuff. time and time before ppl tend to look at VY as if he has been the full time starter for four years just because he’s in the fourth year of his contract, and as you stated, when you actually rack up the stretches he played its doesnt calculate to 4 years of experience. and players are only going to get better with experience, and in his time hes had to learn 2 different offenses, now that he’s had the chance to sit back and learn how things are done (which he never had the chance to do early in his career) i can only see him getting better.that USC stuff wasnt going to work with VY, it wasnt even working with KC as our QB, having dinger is a good thing for VY. i believe he will find a way to use VY effectively, not playing in the NFL for a year is a long time, and if this is what were seeing as he is just starting to get his feet wet i cant wait until he starts to get really comfortable. hopefully he continues to prove alot of the titans fans wrong, b/c the mans a winner.
"Waiting for the return of the Mac"
"Let VY loose, give him the chance to play his heart out. for himself, for the titans...and for mcnair"
"Titans & Texans fan, dont bug me w/your petty b.s., life's confusing enough."
VY is playing much better than before
not just his accuracy but decission making. Running at the right time, making good reads. I think sitting last year and the start of this one helped him mature and understand the game better. So much of being a NFL quarterback is preparation. I really believe that he is committed to doing what it takes Monday thru Saturday so that Sunday is fun. He also seems to be keeping on an even keel when things go against him. Time will tell but I like the new Vince.
Back To The Future
No
You know what.. I love the titans, but when it come s VY as our starting quarterback for years to come please no… Now sure the guy is an ok QB. He’s a great runner, and an even better scrambler. I think that this team need a person like a younger Kerry Collins. Take a look at it if you will.. We have young wideouts, that with a accurate passer can makes plays. We have 3 great tight-ends on our team. Our O-Line is solid, but are more ment to pass block not block for a scrambler. Thats what Vince is and good for him, but just not this team. McNair was a passer, and at times a scrambler but he was a passer first. Thus the reason he won an MVP award for his passing. I try and try and try to go Young credit, but he hasn’t shown me anything yet. He’s not the greatest thrower, very inconsistant, and to this point hasn’t shown he can rebound. Don’t get too excited just yet about VY he hasn’t played the best talented teams yet. SF, Jac, and Buf are not that talented guys. Well find out in the next two weeks how good he really is. I won’t be shocked if he has a 200 1 TD 3 INT game at all. He’s Vince Young Prove Me Wrong….
McNair
Well if you honestly think that is what McNair was then you didn’t pay much attention early on take for example the music city miracle he didn’t have all that great of a game he was still a scrambler and in the super bowl the same thing yes later on McNair developed into that passer but he was nowhere near a passer first
Nobody punished like Earl and No one was nastier than Ryan
This makes no sense
I think that this team need a person like a younger Kerry Collins. Take a look at it if you will.. We have young wideouts, that with a accurate passer can makes plays.
A younger Kerry Collins wasn’t known for his great accuracy either. The wide receivers are still not that great, although better than they have been for Tennessee. If you want to “make plays,” you don’t want a younger version of the current Kerry Collins. Now, you may want a young Kerry Collins, but with that would come his turnover and accuracy problems that he had back in the day.
We have 3 great tight-ends on our team.
I’m a Longhorn so I obviously cheer for Scaife, but I wouldn’t call him “great” (I’d settle for really good). After him… who? You really want to call Crumpler “great” right now?
Our O-Line is solid, but are more ment to pass block not block for a scrambler.
Um, when you block for a passing play, you “pass block,” whether the QB is a scrambler or not.
I try and try and try to go Young credit, but he hasn’t shown me anything yet.
So having a good QB rating and only one turnover in three games to go along with some nice throws isn’t showing anything? You sure you’re trying to give Young credit?
He’s not the greatest thrower, very inconsistant, and to this point hasn’t shown he can rebound.
Yeah, he sure fell apart after he threw that interception…
Don’t get too excited just yet about VY he hasn’t played the best talented teams yet. SF, Jac, and Buf are not that talented guys.
I guess we shouldn’t be impressed with the Jacksonville win. It’s not like Jacksonville waxed the Titans earlier in the season, with only two meaningless touchdowns from Kerry Collins making that score look better.
Well find out in the next two weeks how good he really is. I won’t be shocked if he has a 200 1 TD 3 INT game at all.
Why just these two weeks? Why not the last three? Why not the next 5? I too expect him to have a rough game here and there; does that automatically mean he’s bad? If you’re expecting 350 yard passing days out of this offense and VY, you’re watching the wrong team.
