Yeah, it is...

Is it just me, or does Dexter McCluster remind of you CJ. With his build and running style.

Well, that score just killed them.

They had a good chance after the INT, but the Vols defense doesn’t seem to have much of an answer for that running game.

Yawn!!

My team (the “other” UT – poor stepchild that they are) is ahead 40-zippo at the half, so I’m taking a break from football. You know, if South Carolina and Mississippi State would both notch wins today, we could have an all Texas BCS title game: UT vs TCU!!! And, wouldn’t you guys all love that! :-)

by JimR on Nov 14, 2009 1:36 PM CST via mobile reply actions   0 recs

LOL

If that happens, I’ll send you some first aid ointment for your burns. PS. I know it’s tough having Texans (real Texans, not Houston “Texans”) on your blog; you guys are good sports.

South Carolina is close at the half

Keep those matches handy. :-)

nothing personal against TCU

i just think you have to play at least one legitimate power opponent to be in consideration. there might be 10-15 big conference schools that could run TCU’s schedule, if not more. a couple crummy ACC teams (or any acc teams really) definitely don’t meet that requirement.

Actually, all kidding aside

they are a remarkably good team for the size school TCU is, but no, they don’t play a strong schedule, and I don’t think they would hold up well against the top teams in the major conferences.

by JimR on Nov 14, 2009 2:01 PM CST via mobile up reply actions   0 recs

I dont doubt they couldnt hold up

But they haven’t, and that has to matter at some point. It’s why the SEC deserves 1 loss teams to get more credit than say a Big Ten team that’s undefeated

yeah

it’s not their fault, just a symptom of the most retarded structuring of an athletic league in history.

Agree, but it's tough to come up with a

rational system that doesn’t require the best teams to play way too many games. Everybody wants a playoff system, but if you include everybody who’s a legitimate contender, you’re gonna have them playing through the end of February.

D1 is too big

no way to sort out 120 teams in only 12-13 games. it’s just impossible without a huge tourney a la NCAA b-ball.

one thing ive never heard proposed

is eliminating non-conference games from the regular season and just letting every conference sort itself out in 8-9 weeks, then you start a huge tourney where teams enter based on conference rank. then you can pull it off without making the season go on forever. then a team that makes the NC game plays 14 games and everyone else plays fewer. they could even have an NCAA tourney and an NIT for lower level teams.

Yeah, I was thinking of something like that,

too, but I think TV money gets in the way. I.E. The better large schools have been going for longer, not shorter, regular seasons to get more TV revenue. If they shorten their regular season, but get eliminated early in the playoff/tourney, they could lose big bucks. I am assuming you mean a single elimination tourney. If not, won’t that be too many games, too?

Hopefully CJ Sr.

will be able to put up numbers tomorrow similar to what CJ Jr is putting up today.

It definitely is a CJ-like performance today.

This is turning into a decided ass-kicking. Is UT gonna be Bowl-eligible?

yeah

nothing but cupcakes left. it would take a major train wreck (losing to vandy and UK) to stop them at this point.

ROSE BOWL!

I was 13 last time they went to Pasadena. I can’t wait! Now we just gotta wait for someone in the PAC10 to decide they want to go too…
