Tennessee Titans Players Reaction to QB Change
First off, here's the official announcement by Fisher and other info on this Sunday's game. But don't worry, he's still in Kerry Collins' corner.
Vince Young on Vince Young and others after the jump...
VY gives his opinion how he thinks VY is going to handle this situation. He also talks about things, and things like dat.
KFC talks about his new country song he wrote this morning. You have to feel sorry for him, being that he probably is done in the NFL, and it really wasn't his own undoing. (He did nothing to help his case, though)
Chris Johnson gives his view. He may not sound intelligent or sober, but he always says the right things and is a lot more media savvy than I expected him to be after his rookie season. By the way, this guy is still 5th in the league in rushing yards when this team has had to give up on the run and pass in half of their games.
Keith Bulluck doesn't sound too conVINCEd (see what I did there?) that VY is the man.
Vince's former UH Cougars teammate, Bo Scaife, seems super excited to see Vince throw the ball behind him.
Justin Gage says he's committed to giving VY's growth by doing his best impression of Justin McStonehands.
On a more serious note, as a Titans fan, I really do hope that he goes out there and proves me wrong, and datboybevans right. This franchise really needs something like that right now (and plus I would really like it if VY helped me out on the Play of the Week segment, as the last few weeks have been rough). If you think it's bad now, just wait until next March when we're all wondering where half the team all of sudden disappeared to. We're most likely going to be looking at a completely different Titans team next season, so just sit back and enjoy the rest of the season, as ridiculous as it might get.

A couple of things:
VY and Scaife were on the Texas Longhorns, not the Houston Cougars.
Second, I don’t believe Collins football career is over, just his days as a starting QB are probably over, unless VY gets hurt.
Collins can probably be an NFL backup QB for a few more years, if he wants to be one…

Christie kicks it high and short...Gonna be fielded by Lorenzo Neal at the 25...He dishes it back to Wycheck...He throws it across the field to Dyson...

can we make it like Ohio state: THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE, or THE UT.
There is no other. But they also do not wear orange. At least not the correct orange.

history lesson
1794: Blount College, Founded in Knoxville
1807: renamed East Tennessee College
1840: after a period of expansion, renamed East Tennessee University, the first non-religiously affiliated institution of higher learning of its kind west of the Appalachian Mountains
1862: Morrill Act passed to provide 30,000 acres of federal land to each state to support the founding of universities
1863: Civil War and the Siege of Knoxville mess stuff up big time.
1869: Thanks to Morrill Act resources, the school is able to rebuild and reopens as The University of Tennessee
1827: constitution for the Mexican state of Coahuila y Tejas calls for a public institution of higher learning in arts and sciences but nothing every actually is built.
1845: President and Tennessean James K Polk sign law admitting recently annexed Texas into the Union as 28th state.
1846: Secretary of War requests 2,800 soldiers from the state of Tennessee to fight in Mexican American War. Tennessee politely declines, instead offers to send 30,000. “Volunteers”, get it?
1847: The First and Second Tennessee are crucial in US victory at Cerro Gordo. Mexican President Santa Anna characterizes Cerro Gordo as the most crucial US victory in the war.
1862: Texas A&M established via Morrill Act. you guys aren’t even the first university of northern mexico!
1883: the university of texas at austin is opened
final score:
the University of Tennessee has 89 more years of actual heritage, 14 more years of the UT moniker, and texas owes it’s statehood to Tennessee. you’re welcome.

It was a follow up question to “you are probably getting a bunch of opinions on the quarterback change?”
by BadV6Blazer on Oct 30, 2009 9:27 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
And another note
From watching Fish, then VY, then Collins, I get the impression that reporters (and fans) think that KC has some journeyman’s wisdom to impart to VY (from past experiences) but I also get the impression that he hasn’t and isn’t imparting this wisdom (whether this is VY’s ‘fault’ or KC’s ‘fault’ I’m unsure).
I’ve never really seen VY and KC huddle up on the sideline and I’ve never seen them together in the locker room (what little I’ve seen from videos and what not) even though their lockers are right next to one another. So, as a fan, am I supposed to believe that KC is supportive of VY (or that VY was supportive of KC even) or do I believe that they were two dudes competing for the same job?
Somehow I feel like it’s less Mr. Baseball (love that movie) at the end when Selleck is helping his teammates and more Mr. Baseball at the beginning when Selleck can’t be bothered with anyone but himself, but I could be ‘reading too much body language’.
by TNTitans on Oct 30, 2009 8:25 AM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Actually, I think you hit the nail on the head here.
I hate to go to the body language thought, but i do feel you can get a decent read on players thoughts when you look at where they are in relation to the person they are competing against. I have to say I have never seen KC and VY next to each other in any situation this year. It may be one of those things where it did happen and the camera wasn’t on them. The important thing is whether or not VY has grown up over the last year or so, or if he still is burning on Texas fumes and beleiving the hype.
by Joy kat on Oct 30, 2009 9:14 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Its most likely the camera wasn't on them
because you can’t sell a story about VY and KC getting along on the sidelines. Its not juicy enough, not steeped in controversy – VY is definitely not treated fairly in the media

does every vy hater have amnesia?
because from what i recall VY was offensive rookie of the yr, had a winning record as a qb, and led us to the playoffs before….im soo tired of everyone saying how he is a bust when the only reason KC had the job over him last yr is because he got hurt and KC came in the the team went on their 10-0 run which was due more to the defense and our running game and not from KC actually winning any game. He mostly just managed the game and didnt turn the ball over too often but KC was never a spectacular qb last yr, and now his inabilty to actually win a game and put the team on his back is obvious.
by dizzle19 on Oct 30, 2009 10:20 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
There are no "vy haters".
We just want the best for this team. We don’t really care who the quarterback is as long as we are winning.
And that Kerry “mostly just managed the game and didnt turn the ball over too often”, that’s all we needed.

Exactly.
Unless VY comes in & is fantastic in these last 10 games, Tennessee had better snag 1 of these stud QBs that’s coming out next April. I wouldn’t mind if they keep VY (if they re-do his contract first) as long as they draft another QB to cover themselves should Young not finally establish himself as their starter for the next 10 years.

If VY does enough to warrant being kept. i.e. win 10 straight like Collins, or even 7 out of 10. The Titans might not be able to say, “oh, you need a pay cut still”.

managing a game
Doesnt win championships and doesnt win games in the playoffs. Sometimes you need a qb to step up and make plays to win a game. KC has been losing this yr because the defensive has been allowing more points this yr then last, and because he cant make enough plays on offense to keep up…Yes VY definitly has his flaws but he also can be a play maker when needed.
