My question
Will he be able to listen to his iPod during the game while he is playing?

Of course

it'll keep the boos out of his head....

6 more home games still to go
that’s a lot of time to boo. bottom line: the fans will love vince when he wins again, and not a second sooner.

I seem to recall
chanting for VY to come in during the pats game and cheering when he finally did. My opinion, the fans are on his side until he gives them a reason not to be
yeah....
I dont like to categorize all the fans as a whole, i know he still has supporters (i hope), but it just seems that alot have already shut the door on him w/o giving him a real chance to redeem himself. but thats the past and its looks like a lock on him starting sunday, just hope he can make the best of the opportunity and play well.

I hope he does good. But does it really matter. If he got sacked 15 times in the first half the haters would say its his fault. If every throw bounced off the chest of the potential reciever, they would say he throws too hard. If we win they will say its because of the running game. So unless he has a Bady like preformance hes not going to get any respect from alot of people.

Yeah, it's the fans fault, not Vince's crappy play

I disagree.
Unless Vince does something astonishingly terrible, fans won’t blame the game on him. The fans on this site (with a few exceptions) are pretty knowledgeable in football, so we aren’t going to blame 15 sacks or on-target dropped balls on him. We give respect where it’s due. Vince doesn’t need a Brady like performance, he just needs to win the game.

Smash said it right.
All he needs is an average game and a win, and he’s a fan favorite all over again.
sad to say...
we live in a “build them up, tear them down” society. but the good news is we have a huge capacity for second chances. here’s vince’s. the doors open, but he still has to walk through it himself.

On record
I’m on record as having given up on Vince. I really didn’t like him quiting and I still believe he doesn’t have the locker room behind him.
With that said!! I’m a Titans fan first and for the sake of the Team I really hope he plays very well and we can win!!!
BUT!!!!!!! If he does play well then please everyone who have been calling for Collins head please be sure to do that as well for Vince.
But I’m will to bet that what we will hear is about how he doesn’t have good enough talent around him and how his WR’s are dropping balls.
Just be fair in it all is all I ask..
oops
Doesn’t play well.. is what I meant to say.. not does play well
A poor game from Vince
but a win would be the most ambiguous outcome for the great QB debate, and result in the most argument on this site, so that’s probably what will happen. Yes, this is my back-door way of trying to convince Murphy’s law that its rules are best met by a win for us.
Well
I believe the stats are something like this.. in 30 starts Vince has thrown for 4976 yards, 22 TD’s and 33 INT’s.
That is just over an INT per start. other than INT’s most QB’s can do that in 16 games. But people like to throw out 18-11 stat.. but that just tells me the Titans Won inspite of Vince!
I really want my Titans to win so I’m pulling for the guy to have a “second” career and just be outstanding. and let’s all hope the D regains some swager

I miss
I miss coming around! Life is busy as hell! Work is non stop 4 days a week.. Oldest son started football this season, now it’s straight on to Hockey.

While I understand your point
there are only a couple quarterbacks to ever have thrown for that many yards or more in 16 games
many
It’s not the 4900 or so yards.. it’s the fact it’s taken 29 starts for that… Even Pennington with the Wild Cat went for like 3600 or so yards last year, so what would he have done with another 13 starts?
that is my point

Also
I don’t think this analysis is complete without mentioning the 10 rushing touchdowns. That is obviously such a substantial part of his game that it must be considered when looking at the stats. When you take into account rushing, he has produced 5692 yards 32 TD’s and 30 INT’s (33 interceptions is for every game he has ever played which is 35 not 30). Furthermore out of those 30 games you speak of, he only started 28 of them.
He doesn’t sound nearly as bad anymore.
If you include rushing TDs
You have to include fumbles.

yes
yes it does..
But if you are going to count rushing TD’s which I agree you should.. then you have to count all Fumbles.. not just lost ones.. Because it’s not like he fumbled.. got it back and ran for the first down.. it more than likely stopped a drive or lost yards..
So 5692 yards, 32 TD;s, 33 INT’s, 22 Fumbles and only 22 TD’s.. Really? That’s good?
Yards suck.. see my pennington comment above.. total of 42 TD;s, But 55 negative aspects.. I just can’t agree.. sorry.. But let’s hope he turns it around
by white02slpss on Oct 29, 2009 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions
I agree with what you are saying
just not the details. A fumble that is not lost is not nearly as big of a loss as an interception as the team can still punt. However you look at VY, I’m not saying it’s great or even good, just not nearly as bad in my opinion as it is if you look at his stats like you evaluate a pocket passer.
But here’s to hoping he capitalizes on the good aspects of his game and limits the negative. Either way at least we know where the focus of the draft needs to be.
On a side note, if he doesn’t work out for QB, I say renegotiate his contract and experiment with him in other positions. He’s too good of an athlete to let go if we can keep him on the cheap.
Sorry, but you're wrong...
A recovered fumble is not equivalent to an interception. It’s more like an incomplete pass or a sack. It fails to gain positive yards but does not give the ball to the opponent.
I would equate...
…Young’s fumbles with Favre’s interceptions. It’s the bad that comes along with the good. Would you like to have seen Favre throw fewer picks? Sure, but would you like to see that at the expense of all the great plays that resulted from that same risk taking? Not me. I’d say VY’s winning touchdown run against the Texans was worth those six lost fumbles all by itself. The same can be said of Big Ben. In trying to make plays, he holds on to the ball too long, takes sacks, and fumbles more that you would like to see. But that’s also what makes him such a good QB.
I agree
that brings him to 32 TD’s and 36 TO’s (22 fumbles 6 lost). Not great, but not nearly as bad as what was originally stated. While I agree that his numbers even with rushing aren’t great, it is simply not fair to discuss his stats without including rushing since that is who he is.
cracks me up
when people “claim” that they want VY to do well but just can’t help themselves to throw a “but I doubt it” rant in there. Funny that it’s the same posters that constantly berate him.
they are just saying they want him to do well cuz he has a titans jersey
i am one of those guys who wants him to do well, but i doubt it too. fact is he will be a hit or a miss and most recognize he is gonna be a miss, and rightfully so.

Oh No!!! We Suck Again
Rookie of the Year
I know it seems like its been forever since VY won Rookie Of the Year. Its not the best award but they don’t just hand that out like candy on halloween…we all know VY is a runn QB first PERIOD jeff can’t change that nobody can’t mack brown realized that his sophmore year at UT so he changed his offense and they never lost again after that wit him in the shotgun..yes college is a diffrent game..BUT the offense was changed for him…I have seen some plays altered for VY but ur gonna have to be willing to change the offense completly to ever get a succesfull VY ! He’ll never be a drop back QB sorry ! I love VY I’m from the austin area.. I’ve seen him booed here in austin. His sophmore year and mack pulled him out tha game..I guess what me and most of you are waiting to see sunday is IS VY gonna be the VY we saw in 05 ? Or are we gonna see a man who finally excepted defeat…I hope not! I still believe in him. What was you feeling about him when he played in houston for the 1st time and took it to the house in overtime ! Member that ?
