Tennessee Titans to Start Vince Young at QB against the Jaguars

The Tennessean is reporting that Vince Young will indeed start at quarterback for the Titans on Sunday.

This should come as a surprise to no one in the wake of Bud Adams's comments about wanting to VY to start.  So here we go.  This site has been pretty divided for months about Vince Young.  He now gets his shot to prove, on the field, what he is or isn't.  For the good of the Titans I hope he plays really well.  I, however, do not think that will happen.

It doesn't fix anything

The problem hasn’t been with the QB play this year. But I hope he plays well too. Maybe he’ll put 35 points and that will cover up how bad our D is. Here’s to wishful thinking.

let the Vinsanity begin

i think this shifts the discussion about Fisher’s job security. now, if vince comes in and does pretty much what we have seen from him before (HIS actual performance, no win/loss record please) then Fisher can be somewhat justified in saying he did what he could with what he had. if vince comes in and shows that his game has significantly progressed, then the heat is probably even higher on coach for not changing earlier.

as always, i hope for the best. maybe the pressure of playing for his career will bring the best out of him. here’s also to hoping that the boo-birds stay away for a at least a few games if he struggles early. things are hard enough without the home crowd getting in his head. if he can put it all together it drastically brightens the immediate outlook for this franchise heading into the offseason so we might as well hope for the best.

obviously im rather pessimistic when it come to all things vince young, but this will be the most important, meaningless 10 game stretch in recent franchise history. fingers crossed.

looks like...

VY gonna get his chance to redeem his self…look at it this way…if he does great we go 9-7….if he does bad we 2-14…so give him his shot…could be worse…we could have J. Russell….

I thought this picture was extremely accurate

That is our season going up in flames while our head coach (wearing an Eagle jacket obviously. For charity, of course.) pokes at it with a stick.

You keep posting these and people are gonna start to wonder

Do you have a cache of these somewhere?

Or, are you actually starting the fires and then snapping photos of the ensuing horror?

Let Vince play to his strengths.

He has talent if the coaches will use it.He’s not a pocket passer so why don’t they take this guy and adapt to his strengths.Let the other teams try to stop his playmaking abilities.

It's just so off-the-wall

It’s hard to get my head around if those are just terrible or actually halfway decent.

Any chance we could get something to compare that to? Maybe another QB in a similar 5 game stretch against a division rival?

When I saw 70-132 I actually thought “That’s better than I expected” and then I saw 3 TD’s and 8 picks and thought “Yup, that’s about right.”

This means nothing

This does not fix anything short or long term. He has is shot he blew it the next 10 games are going to prove that out. But like everyone else I hope he does well and gets us some wins.

The interesting game will now moved to a

“very big thing to watch” kind of game. Is he the answer? Is he a better passer? Will he continue his awful performance record (5 games 3TD 8 picks 50.9 QB rating; 96 rushing yards-2 wins 3 losses)?

Yeah you'right but the 2008 opening game was won by

Collins. Young was terrible on that game, when he got injured-so let it be a 2-2 record ok?

The season starts Sunday (except for the whole 0-6 part)

Let’s hope this is a different team from here on out.

Much will depend on the offensive scheme and play calling.

I hate that it’s against the Jags, but it might be exactly what VY needs.

tattedtitan

ou guys don’t remember the feeling when titans drafted VY .. He had just single handedly beat USC in the NC and we completly believed that he could do the same here for the titans.. Well he could but we havnt ajusted the offense to him.. If we don’t we will NEVER see the VY that we saw in Austin ! Unless fisher says ok were gonna run outta the shotgun and use a lot of option pass …or line 5 wideouts (Lol like we have any)wit CJ as one of them and have him roll out and either hit one or run..we aint gonna do shit ! QB keeper

I hope he brings his running shoes with him. (P.S. Hey T-Rac…..I’m ready to take that bet now…of us going 10-6…..I’m willing to wage my ceramic figurine of Dan Pastorini…what are you putting up?)

ABOUT TIME

A losing streak needs a shakeup to get attention of the players. I think letting this get to 0-6 may have made the effect of the shakeup too late. Maybe the bye week will allow these guys to come out with their heads in the game this weekend. A win would be nice. Hopefully we see the defense that played against the Steelers for the first 3 1/2 quarters. Keep it close and give VY a chance to run the offense without being down 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
