This lends more credence to my “he just hadn’t made up his mind yet” theory.

Schefter said he thinks it is Collins
and we all know how tight he and Fisher are.

I know Fish wants Collins
but no way it happens. Vince at QB creates a media splash for at lease a game or two. If it’s Kerry, the media will give the Titans “the see you next year” treatment. I’d like to give Bud Adams credit for creating some interest in an 0-6 team, but I’m not sure he still lucid enough to actually hatch a scheme.

I can't see why it wouldn't be Vince.
The past 3 weeks Fisher has said bluntly that Collins is the starter, and that’s that. Why is this week different? Okay, Bud Adams told him to play Vince. Fisher still seems like he is doing whatever he wants. If the players know…
"I know he’s excited to play. Anyone who hasn’t been in the game for a while, if he gets an opportunity to get in the game, is going to be excited to play," Scaife said. "I know he’s been waiting patiently and I know he’s excited, and if the chance comes, I know he’s going to make the most of it."
That sounds like he’s pretty sure of who the QB will be.

If Fisher plays Collins
He’s trying to get fired deliberately. It’s that simple.

That would be an exercise of power....
…which would not suit him very well in his next job interview with an owner.
Demanding carte blanche over everything – total unchecked power -and then getting it is one thing. But then using that power to poke your thumb in the eye of the team owner is another thing altogether. It’s not like Bud Adams hasn’t given Jeff Fisher a chance (16 years), or enough control (has it all), or has treated him badly (he hasn’t). Such a bull-headed move, one that directly slaps-down the owner of the team (and one not named “Al Davis”), would probably ensure Jeff Fisher’s next coaching job will come with about as much team control as the average interim coach gets.
It’s going to be Vince Young. Jeff Fisher might not like it, and he might purposefully call 75 run plays in protest against the Jaguars; but I can’t believe he’s suicidal enough to hit himself in the future pocketbook by becoming that coach who’ll openly disrespect the direct request of a team owner.
Vince will start. Jeff might not let the offense call a pass until the fourth quarter in protest, but Vince will start.

Anyone else see the Paul Kuharsky burn?
I absolutely love this quote
Fisher’s relying on the old "competitive advantage" rationale for his approach, because if the Jaguars know who going to play, they’d foolishly presume they didn’t need to be prepared for the other guy.
And because they can retool their roster in a matter of days to somehow be more ready for a quarterback they beat by 20 points four weeks ago (Kerry Collins) or the one they left asking out of his last meaningful game on Sept. 7, 2008 (Vince Young).

Joe Dubin:
Jeff Fisher said he will make an announcement on Thursday. He DID NOT SAY he will be naming a starter, he just said he will have an announcement for everyone on Thursday.
I am betting that Jeff Fisher will tell us, that he will tell us on Sunday, who the starter is going to be and who could blame him? I would. Why let Jacksonville find out who the QB is going to be? Just do it on Sunday.
