Tennessee Titans Morning Links: We All Want To Jump In One Way Or Another Edition
Though there still hasn't been an official response by Fisher to the news that Bud Adams wants Vince Young to start, Jim Wyatt says it's a call to jump, and the Nashville football people already know how high. There is a chance that Fisher and crew are trying to dissuade Bud from sticking to his guns...
If you're already depressed over this year, this one may send you off the nearest bridge: our Titans are currently on pace to be outscored by 300 points... a feat that never happened in the history of the NFL. The Rams are on a worse pace than we are, and that fact should console you on the way down.
Peter King somehow blames this start on Vince Young? I don't think that's what he means, but his lack of clarity makes it tough to interpret this otherwise.
Follow us through the jump for an attempt at levity...
Just for the sake of levity: it's KSK's LOLNFL for Week 7!
Wow... just wow. The Titans are 3 point favorites over the Jaguars? I get their reasoning, but you'd have to be a straight up junkie to put any money on a team that's this big of a head-case right now.
Hey, at least we're not the only ones already thinking about our draft position this year. Shutdown Corner blogger MJD takes a look at how our QB situation could shake-up the QB situation in the draft.
Just about the only thing working in our favor: Titans QB-killer Rashean Mathis may miss Sunday's contest.
If you see anything good or Titans related on your travels around the internets, be sure to send it to mcmaugustwest@gmail.com!

So sick of this flawed reasoning from Peter King et al...
KC sucks and VY sits, ergo VY must suck more.
Fisher saw a 13-3 team with an outperforming veteran QB and he gave the job back to that guy. All throughout that period VY’s undeniable athletic talent sat on the bench, no situational packages, no wildcat, nothing… do we also conclude from that that VY isn’t capable of running? No. Just the way Fisher wants to do things. Not a huge vote of confidence that KC was resigned, but what did you expect Fisher to do? VY not playing through an 0-6 start is more about Fisher sticking with his plan, guy, and team. I love the rush to judgment on Young’s play with him still holding a clipboard.
Seeing what went down in SF should give the talking heads a little pause. They’ve mocked Alex Smith for 4 years and he looked pretty spectacular on Sunday. The guy has always been talented but got hurt and didn’t fit with Martz, was beaten out by a solid and steady veteran on a run-first smashmouth team. Looked like a real player throwing to Davis and Crabtree… should we also conclude that if Shaun Hill and J.T. O’Sullivan suck that Alex Smith sucks more? No, judge the players on how they play, don’t speculate on how they would have played based on somebody else’s play.
I for one, certainly am interested in seeing what VY can do and am not in a rush to judge his ability.

straight up junkie
I guess that’s me cause I’m taking the Titans this week. Hey, even Detroit won in week 3 over Washington. So anything can happen! I must be the most optimistic (or the craziest) person on the planet but I think we could go 10-6 this year! Yeah, I can hear you laughing from here. But really, it COULD happen. And if it does, who will be laughing then, huh?

Just letting you all know I feel for you guys...
since my team, the Dolphins, went down this road just two years ago. I don’t know if replacing Collins with Young will do the Titans any good, but I still think the titans are too good to go winless or 1-15 or even 2-14. Fisher is too good a coach, too.

I am trying to get excited about Sunday
Usually I am jacked up for the Jags but the way we have been playing is painful to watch. I will be at LP (as always) but to be honest I am way more excited about going to see Paramore Sunday night at the Rynman after I leave LP Field.

finally.....
everybody that is bitching and moaning, VY this VY that, i dont think he can do this i dont think he can do that. and all of that is based on what…..2 years of playing (as i said before, thats combined)? 0 and 6 ppl should be welcoming a QB change, KC was never ever really that good, but when it comes to not wanting to see VY on the field he becomes one of the leagues elite. never bought that KC was the qb of this team, yeah he managed the game good last year and didnt f**k up too much last year and i appreciate it. but now its time to give the reins back to VY that should have never been taken from him in the first place (cant believe how ppl thought KC could be our qb, we were just one of his last stops out of the NFL). so everybody just sit back and see what VY can do, and plz allow more than one game to make your quick judgments, we have given KC 6!

I quote you "give the reins back to VY that should have never been taken from him in the
first place"
What ? Taken from him? I wouldn’t exactly say that. I beleive Fisher had to go to the bench and yell at VY for him to come back in the game last year, because he was broken hearted by the booing after throwing another interception. When you are making millions of dollars a year, you shouldn’t have to be coaxed back on the field to play the game that you supposedly love. He flat out QUIT on the Titans. That is insubordination and not becoming of a leader by any means. KC led the team good enough last year to take them to the playoffs, and except for a fumble by Hall and White, I beleive they would have been in the Superbowl. Not bad for KC and the TItans. Now, this year is a complete different story. I think the best years are behind Collins. If you want to blame all these losses this year on Collins, that is just ignorance. The first couple of games could have gone either way, after that our defense fell on hard times and Collins just couldn’t get the offense going either. However 59 points scored against us is NOT collins fault.
I wish the Titans had another option because VY is not a great NFL quarterback, and will not ever be a great NFL qb in my opinion.

yes....
taken from him….he gets hurt and KC gets on board the defenses ride for the year and they take us to 13 and 3, not collins. yeah he gets millions of dollars to get booed by the fans for the 1st game of his “3rd season”, something that is not acceptable as football fans of your team. and dont ever question VY’s love for the game and heart, hes shown more than his fair share of both to have that discussion thrown out of the window. blah blah blah quit on the titans, yeah yeah yeah, everybody is gonna use that for their sole purpose of getting at VY. ill believe that when i hear it, and nobody did, so it didnt happen. who cares if he took longer than usual to get back on the field, he went back out there didnt he???, in front of thousands of disloyal fans. and this year is a different story b/c of our defense, not KC’s play, its always been pretty good to horrible. 59 points scored on us is not KC’s fault your right, but not being able to score any, IS. he’s our “QB” right? and really Joy Kat, your comments are as useless as T-Racs are.

maybe your right......
maybe your wrong. it could go either way, its probability. its like ppl dont want to see what happens with VY, and i just dont understandy why. “b/c he cant be an NFL QB”….again, why? ppl that dont think experience isnt the best medicine then they arent looking at the whole picture, and when you sit back and look, the man has very little real game time exp. yeah hes in the 4th yr of his contract, not the 4th year of his career, he needs to be in there to learn what he has to do right. and ppl need to give up this quitter bs, if youve ever actually watched VY play the game and paid attention to detail, he is one of the definitions of having heart and playing with passion. just b/c he had his episode that he can never have passion and fire for the game ever again? again….your not looking at the whole picture. i just dont understand, its like ppl in ten didnt even want VY, more than that…they didnt even want to open the door. but they did, and for some reason they looked for the first reason to shut it again once hes outside. booing him out of the stadium his first game of his, again i say, of his “3rd yr”. what is that? yeah he hasnt been successful in alot of everybodys eyes, its b/c they havent found the right way to use his strengths, which is not just running the ball for all you “cant pass” ppl. in the end its just that VY is a time bomb and when the dust settles its a high proability that he comes out a very good QB in the NFL, maybe great, and right now hes wearing a titans uniform. but nobody knows for sure what can happen, ppl sometimes forget the players are human just like you and me. but lets see what happens, finally bud has to put everybody back in their place and call the right shots.

i feel you... just disagree respectfully
vy, imo, has had plenty of play time to see if he could pan out. i think, imo, once again, it’s safe to say he is a bust by now. i have never liked vy and didn’t want him. i honestly wanted leinart. course who knows if he would have been any better. i just think vy is a running qb and that’s it. have you honestly watched him pass. his highlight videos are full of run plays. that’s why he has almost twice as many ints as tds. but i guess it’s all about what u prefer. u like him, so support him. i will root for him too, as long as he is a titan. but honestly i want him gone after this year.

i understand where ur comin from too, right back at ya....
its all about opinions, i just doesnt think he has had alot of time, not real game exp. if ppl want to go based on garbage time, preseason, etc, than thats them, but in reality its not alot. im sure you didnt like VY, just like im pretty sure alot of ten ppl didnt. but come on bro, maybe if you were waching a video of his running highlights, but he has had a good amount of passing highlights in his short career. of course you cant remember alot, he hasnt been in the game alot. and in reality, everybodys gonna focus on the INT’s if in the first place they did not agree with the choice to bring him here. but i want him to be a titan for a little bit longer just to really find out, thats where we agree to disagree, we’ll just have to see how that pans out. but yeah man, at least put him in, not b/c im a supporter but we still have to find out whats sitting over there.

show me any positive potential from vy
other than his ability to run there is nothing there. and before u say his winning record, that is not necessarily just cuz of him. i want a qb who can at least break even on int to td but he has almost twice as many int as td. and besides that you keep saying he hasn’t been given enough time? he got the starting job almost two whole seasons. how much more playing does he need before he becomes the qb we need him to be. i agree he has talent but he don’t fit our offense. and that is why i didn’t want him. i thought leinart would have been a good fit, and honestly still think he potentialy could be. but it’s all good cuz we got another talented usc qb on the practice squad now lol.
by TitansFanForever on Oct 28, 2009 9:11 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
ive been wanting him on the field.....
so he can show you himself. kc has twice as many INTs this season already, and thats coming from a passing qb, INT"S HAPPEN. and with us, it was not all vinces fault. yeah with that logic, we should have just thrown mcnair out of house just his first couple of years b/c he wasnt so hot. like i say im not gonna compare the both its too early and i think there will never be another mcnair. but its the principle of the matter in how your looking at things, a couple of years is actually pretty short time, think about it. of course your all good, your biased towards your usc players as it seems, or anybody that you dont like. i guess im all about seeing both sides, and with KC i have. b/c hes had 10 plus years to show something other than what he’s show us.

Who is this Joy Kat Kid?
I’m so glad that no one cares for you trying to down a QB that has only started 2 years in the league! If you had since you would know that it takes time to become an elite QB in this league!
Unless your really lucky then….. Look a Mark Sanchez he is a great QB but he still has 10 ints this year you think they going to bench him…Hell no because their coach has enough sense to know that it takes time. QB have to learn the play book and in VYs case they brought in another offensive coach so he had to learn a entire new playbook!
But I bet you didn’t even know that much, VY has now had the time to learn the new playbook and now all he has to do is get some time with the starters then he’s good! But you want to bring in some other guy so he has to try and learn the playbook from scratch also yea thats a great idea!
NOT, and if VY does do bad I would still keep him in to atleast give a younger QB time to learn the playbook and everything else that comes with being a NFL QB! Tired of people talking and don’t even know how the system in football works, they just want to see what they want to see without any material behind it!
by datboybevans on Oct 28, 2009 6:02 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
I actually know that Mark Sanchez is a decent QB and will do well in this league
He has a great work ethic and loves to play the game. VY has talked about retiring, he definitely HAD to be talked back into coming on the field last year , right after the game a fellow team mate , a defensive player said no one quit on this side of the ball. So don’t pretend he didn’t quit on them. He DID !
I do like thought of John David Booty coming to town and giving him a shot. As far as VY starting for 2 years in the league, who cares. He is not the right answer, bank on it. Not only that, the Titan defense is going to have to step up to the plate and deliver, or it will be a very long year no matter who is in the QB position. .

not the only one that had it happen to.
how come flacco, ryan, sanchez, and stafford all had to do it. and from day one. at least vy had a lil while before he had to start. i would take any of those 4 over vy anyday.
by TitansFanForever on Oct 28, 2009 9:13 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah....
flacco has the ravens defense every year, and as long as they have ray lewis they will always be good. ryan had a good running back and good receivers that happened to blossom and help him in his run. sanchez is hitting his wall as we speak, one good game isnt enough to determine, remember that. and stafford, what the hell do you have to go off of?

are you serious?
did the defense throw the ball for flacco? did michael turner throw the ball for ryan? sanchez is up and down, but overall for a first year starter and a fresh rookie from day one who looks fairly solid. stafford is not looking great but manageable considering what he is working with. you can’t possibly think vy didn’t have anything whatsoever right him? he had the same opportunities the other 4 i mentioned had.
by TitansFanForever on Oct 28, 2009 9:35 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yup
no but they did stop the other qb from doing it alot. of course turner didnt, hes the RUNNING BACK, a very key part in the offense. and he had a monster year. yeah he looks solid, in the beginning, not so much now. although i think he can turn it around. obviously we didnt if KC could even do it that year VY had to come in, a decent passer could have led that team right? then what happened? if a vet can struggle with the team, its no so uncommon that a rookie would, come on man.
