More on Jerseygate - from USA Today.  Enjoy!

Charity event or not, Titans coach Jeff Fisher's embrace of a Peyton Manning Colts jersey last week has not won much support around the NFL.

Even former Colts coach Tony Dungy, whom Fisher was introducing at the Nashville event last week, said it crossed a line he would not have crossed.

"I wouldn't have done it if we were 10-0," Dungy said on NBC's Football Night in America, "but that's me."

Two days after losing to the Patriots 59-0 and falling to 0-6, Fisher donned the Manning jersey and said "I just wanted to feel like a winner" at an event last Tuesday. He defended the move since it was a charity event and said he was just trying to have some fun.

Dungy, while acknowledging that it was a joke, said it probably occurred too soon after the blowout loss. "From a players' perspective in the locker room, you just got your butt kicked 59-0," he said. "It's just bad timing."

Fox analyst Terry Bradshaw said Titans players might see the act as him drawing a line between them and him.

"I have a big problem with it," Bradshaw said on Fox NFL Sunday. "If you are a player in that locker room and the coach is separating himself from you, he's basically turned around and told the players 'you're the losers.' I'm disappointed in Fisher."

Former Patriots receiver Rodney Harrison echoed that criticism. "That's not the way you lighten the mood," he said on NBC. "I wouldn't do that. I know (Patriots coach Bill) Belichick wouldn't do it." -- Sean Leahy

Even Tony Dungy thinks it was inappropriate and it was his charity lol

WTF were you thinking Fisher?

Also I don’t understand why some Titan fans didn’t get mad about this, I’m still pissed.

damn we suck this year

Did Tony Dungy say he would do it?

Or say that the fans should not be upset about it cause it was for charity?

Not sure it is the same thing.

I guess you're right.

He basically said that it was for charity, and that it wasn’t a big deal. If people were there and saw it and the crowd’s reaction, they wouldn’t think it was an issue. LIkewise, if the team was 6-0, no one would take issue with it.

That’s from memory, couldn’t find a quote. Download the podcast if you want to hear it. It’s in hour 2 from last Thursday.

Tony Dungy is getting on my last nerve.

First Fish makes an ass out of himself for Dungy’s benefit, then Dungy turns around and says Fish should play Vince, who he probably knows Fisher hates. Then he comes BACK on national TV and says, “I never would have done that!”

Fish disgusted me with that move, but Tony Dungy (with a hard g) is not showing himself to be too loyal of a friend.

I didn't see the first interview that you are talking about SuperHorn

but I saw the NBC show on Sunday and he seemed pretty confidant that he would never wear a Titans jersey if he was still the coach of the Colts. I’m not mad at Tony Dungy, he obviously didn’t tell Fisher to do attempt that “hilarious joke”, and shouldn’t have to cover for him after the fact.

The Keith Bulluck interview that you guys had posted on here was great though, I don’t care how many games we lose I’d rather wear a #53 jersey in that two-toned blue that a retarded Colts jersey any day of the week.

damn we suck this year

What a set up. Dungy played that sucka. Got him all up in front of a crowd with a Colts Jersey on and then pulled the rug out from under him on national TV. I bet he already cashed Fisher’s $5 donation check too.

Just like Fisher though, gets to the party and commits a brain fart to end it.

Hard to summon up enough emotion

to get mad about it.

Very poor decision, and #53 was not amused.

Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

Disgusting

I wouldn’t describe my emotions as angry as I would disgusted. I felt sick. I just hope it was so crazy attempt to motivate his players. But I doubt it.

Dungy, Bradshaw, and Harrison?

If they think its bad, it must be. I didnt care before, but this totally changes everything. Fisher is the worst human being in world.

Call me crazy

but I think that was sarcasm

Sarcasm aside

You have to admit it’s pretty bad when you get called out by the dude that you were trying to honor with your boneheaded stunt.

But I agree, I couldn’t care any less what any of those toons have to say otherwise.

by TNTitans on Oct 26, 2009 4:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Indeed...

It’s a pretty shit move on Dungy’s part to throw Fisher under the bus. But I’m happy he did it. Fisher belongs beneath a bus.

Tic Toc Fish, your time is running out…

well of couse bellicheat wouldnt do it — hed wear the opposing teams cut off hoodie

by mattd97 on Oct 26, 2009 4:52 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

one more reason

that i grow more and more disgusted with fisher. i mean i never really liked fish all that much, but i always said that he was tolerable. he is making it harder and harder to tolerate him. when my gf and i got together she had a peyton jersey and i told her to never wear that damn thing… since then she hasn’t. now i see my hc wearing one cuz he wants to feel like a winner he says?

Dungy Is Seen As The Emperor of Morality In The NFL

So what does that say for Fisher when the man you honor thinks your joke is bad.

That people with morals...

have no sense of humor?

Seriously though, at this point Fish could coach naked for all I care, I just want something other than a damn zero in the wins column.

Nice catch man.

I just glossed right over that.

It should say Former Patriot and Douchcanoe Rodney Harrison.

I don’t keep up with the titan’s as much because VY doesn’t ever play and this is the first time I have heard about this…FIRE HIS ASS

I watch Texas football and that would be like Mack Brown wearing another jersey (ou)and calling the longhorns LOSERS. how can yall not be pissed about this??

by cpabis on Oct 27, 2009 4:05 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

We are all pissed as hell about this

If you look at the posters who support Fisher in this mess they’re typically the kind of fans who generally can’t decide between going to church or watching the game on Sundays. In other words, they’re not very passionate about football.

Those who care, care a lot, and want Fish’s head on a platter.

Please let this happen........

I cannot imagine a funnier conversation than Posse and Beans going at it.

Just reading this, I can tell Beans doesn’t have T-Racs passion for the Titans. Fisher has jumped the shark.

by raven on Oct 28, 2009 11:55 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

please

i need not and will not waste space defending my “passion” for football. this bs is not football. it’s a lynch mob misplacing it’s justified anger about this awful damn season on something that means zero in the grand scheme of things.

think about the squeeler fans and their precious towel:

they got pissed off because another team disrespected their team symbol.
you guys are pissed off because our coach respected/promoted another team’s symbol (in a joking context)

bottom line it’s a jersey, a piece of fabric. it doesn’t change anything about his approach to winning ball games. i don’t care if he tells bad jokes, i care ABOUT FOOTBALL. if he got a laugh out of his own personal misery then good for him.

how do you figure?

Listen… Dungy walks on water and holds a monopoly on both morality AND forgiveness in the NFL (not my view, but it is the way the media portrays it…) and he won’t condone such a despicable dipshit move, even if it was done to honor him!!!

If you have a locker room of players who think you’re a prick and a traitor, good luck being an effective leader. We saw Bulluck’s reaction, and KVB hated it too.

You think it doesn’t change anything about his approach? Maybe it doesn’t change anything about his “approach”, but it sure as fuck changes lots about his chances of future success.

by BeansCarter on Oct 28, 2009 9:27 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

in the grand scheme of things, you are absolutely right. However it is one

of those unspoken things you just don’t do. It would be like seeing Fish in his underwear. Do you really want a glimpse of that? I don’t, mostly because of his big belly, he should keep it covered, but not with a Colt’s jersey.

I think you do want to see Fish in his undies. You just haven’t found the right words to express it.
