Dont blame Jeff, look at what tools he lost!

Jeff Fisher is the most tenured coach is the NFL, that is indisputable. He has a 128-102 record in the regular season with a 5-6 post season record, with only one superbowl appearance. His first full season he went 7-9 and that was third in the central, followed by three seasons at 8-8. What happened after a three years of prepping and building? A Superbowl appearance, and a 13-3 season. He followed that with another 13-3 with a defeat by the Ratbirds in an AFC divisional game. (Pluck the ratbirds)

The Team had 2 more playoff apperances (Loss to Oakland 2002 and Loss to pats 2003) Before it had to have a gigantic cap cut, and lost the majority of Exsperaince and talent, which then was followed by 3 years of rebuilding... With only 2 losing seasons (04-05) and 06 was a 8-8. The Titans then found themselfs back in the playoffs on a wild card bid (07) and last year leading the NFL with a backup Quarterback.

So now we see ourselfs looking at a 0-6 start to a season. Right now I am thinking that I most of all Miss #9 (RIP). I would make the argument he was the toughest player to ever wear a Titans uniform, and could of taught some of the younger QBs (VY) something about playing your heart out when your hurt, either physically or emotionaly.

Secondly I Miss #85 and #83. Mr. Mason and Mr. Bennet are the only dependable 1 2 combo I can remember in this this millenium. Both could of tought younger receivers something, HOW TO CATCH THE BALL!!! Dropped passes have destroyed this offense more then poor play calling.

The number of vets that were slammed away  too quicky is shocking, and I still attripute alot of todays issues with the lack of a solid veteran leadership when our younger talent was moving in.

If you want to blame Jeff for the lack of development please do, but I would rather see the lack of veteran leadership as the cause.

Also, While Kerry Collins did great last year, I saw no ability he had that Billy Volek did not have. Another victim of salary hell, Billy Volek could of also passed along great knodledge to younger professionals. He could of taught sitting on the bench and learning the game of football, and playing succefully when called apon.

The change may lie with Jeff, but at current I disagree. We need to accept this season as a scrap,  and insure that our future stars do not go the way of the past "future" stars.

It wasint too long ago I was bragging about the 2 new rookies the Titans had, Tyrone Calico and Chris Brown. I am now bragging about our current youth, Kenny Britt and CJ, but I do not want a lack of talent around them that they can absorb from to put them in the same situation as the past.

Finally, I feel I must mention that #27 could of taught something to our younger RBs. Some call it "always falling forward," but I would refer to it as NEVER giving in, fighting for that last half yard by sacrificing your body. Lendale could certainly benefit from a man like Eddie being around, even if he was just wearing a hat, and not a helmet.

You lost all credibility when you said Billy Volek was a "victim of salary hell."

Cause you know, he wasn’t and stuff.

Yup caught me there… My Memory was mistaken. I was thinking when he was traded to the chargers it was cap reasons, not issues with the head coach.

I have run out of excuses for why would we keep Jeff Fisher after this season

He runs a boring offense with zero creativity. He runs a defense with no versatility, we rush the same four down lineman in almost every situation and if they don’t get to the QB we are skrewed.

We could rebuild with him again but I seriously doubt we ever win a Super Bowl under Jeff Fisher. He has become outdated and lost his passion for the game.

damn we suck this year

agree

i have respect for what jeff fisher has done for this team. but honestly given the time fisher has been given i’m curious as to what some other coaches would have done. as long as he has been here you would think we would have a super bowl win by now. how long does he need to get us that super bowl win. i’m tired of the same old play from jeff fisher. it’s not fun to watch and it’s losing it’s effectiveness. it’s clearly time to move in another direction. almost anyone on here would agree that.

For what reason's do think Fisher should stay?

I really have a hard time finding many legitimate reasons….

damn we suck this year

I could give a few...

…but the most important one to me is giving up on an experienced and proven winning coach, in the hopes of the next coach to take his place will be successful, and that’s just a lot to hope for imo. I, for one, don’t want to end up like the Redskins, Browns, and the Lions, who have been searching for a winning coach for years. The jury is still out on teams like the Rams, Bucs, and Schwartz with the Lions on how they’re new coaches are gonna pan out, but aside from Schwartz, it’s not looked good early.

Agreed.

One of the highest reasons I do not want to see him leave is that I am afraid of what comes after him. Are we going to struggle for years trying to find a legitimate coach? I personally am not ready to make that risk yet. Maybe by the end of the year, but I doubt things will be so bad that I feel it is time for a change.

speaking of tools fisher lost...

y was chris davis ever cut? he could have been our return man and third string reciever. kinda like mark jones is doing now. i would much rather have chris davis than mark jones any day.

What about Hawkins

I think I read a post about him on here before. The guy has some nifity moves in the open field and returned some balls in college. Whiy did he never get a shot?

by bullrider73 on Oct 27, 2009 9:13 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hawkins kept making mistakes

Running the wrong route, etc.

This has kept him from seeing much in the way of playing playing time, but he’s still on the roster.

I understand he was making mistakes on the offensive side of the ball

but what about special teams. I was wondering why he never got a shot at being a returner.

honestly, would the titans have been as good as they were in past years without Fisher?? No chance in hades my friends. when you have to fish with a straight hook, you ain’t gonna catch crap. Sherrif said he has lost his passion… get off the pipe. No active coach has the passion of Fisher. You don’t see it as much this year because watching them play is like waterboarding!!! If the front office decides to change directions; so be it. But until Fisher fails to win with talent, stop pissing in the wind.

My dad told me when I was 8 years old, "Never hit a man while he is down... it so much easier to kick him!!!!"

disagree

this team has a ton of talent and veteran leadership. the coaching is the problem. and it starts at the top.

by TitansFanForever on Oct 27, 2009 8:21 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

gotta agree here

Jeff Fisher will never win a Super Bowl because his teams are not prepared to win in the playoffs. We gifted the game to the Ravens last year, and we gifted the Chargers the year before. Here’s a simple litmus test: If you lose to a Norv Turner coached team who you clearly outplay, you are probably not up for going all the way.

by joshuaboone on Oct 27, 2009 9:41 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

You guys always gift the big games away. I always hope to play you in the playoffs. You have all the talent and usually a better record and then you brain fart. That’s Fissures M.O..

If you had to, who?

Cower, Dungy, Billick, Martz, Romeo, Chuckie, Iowa head coach?
