This just doesn't seem right
If you look at any QB in the NFL they are in a system that fits them best. It's like asking Peyton Manning to turn into a runner/scrambler, when you ask VY to be a pocket passer, that just isn't his style. If Fish and Dinger would realize VY is a great talent (might not be the answer to all the problems but still great talent) and pull their heads out of their asses and build the teams offense around him and CJ that could be great for this team. The Colts built there team around Manning the Saints also did with Brees, why are the Titans trying to do the opposite and build there QB around a certain offense? They aren't really giving him a chance to be successful. (Not looking for a big fight about this just wanting other opinions, I thought it seemed a little bit backwards)

If only someone had the nerve to say," Bud, Im sorry. But Jay Cutler is our guy."
We would have probably been SB Champs last season, Josh McDaniels’ Broncos wouldnt have the equivalent of an entire NFL draft worth of Chicago Bears draft picks, we wouldnt owe VY 14 million next season, and KC wouldnt be hitting us up for a ridiculous 2 yr/12million dollar contract.

IMO, drafting VY was as big a mistake as taking Pacman.
Both looked like they would be great players early. But both had flaws that ruined their careers.
Pac’s career is basically dead. VY still has a chance to succeed… but only in the right system and probably not in Nashville.
I think Young needs to start over again in another place.
Time to cut ties with him and try to groom a new rookie QB in 2010.
Yeah, the team messed up when they didn’t take Cutler…

I agree, Cutler>VY, and Antrel Rolle>Pacman. Which is what I was pulling for both years.
Pacman definately had his flaws, but do you think he would have kept up his antics had his coach been named Mike Singletary? Honestly, i dont. I think Singletary would have made a REAL man out of him and not let him continue on his path as a punk.
Youngs career isnt completely over. It just looks like it is over here in Nashville. The coaching staff has had three years to put together an offense to fit his strengths, and while we do have better personnel now than when we drafted him, the playbook doesnt fit his style at all. And thats not Vinces fault. He didnt write the playbook. He dont coach the offense. He just attempts to execute in an offense that doesnt fit his playing style.
Vince does need a fresh start. Somewhere that will make him feel appreciated. I dont believe that place is in Nashville. Atleast not with this coaching staff. Whether Vince stays or goes next season(in my opinion) will be a direct reflection of what happens with Fisher. He doesnt fit this system, and its obvious the system will not change just for him. Which I think is sad because he does have the physical ability to shine in this league. Just not as a pocket passer, or a game manager. Because the guy is a playmaker.
Its obvious that I am a VY fan but even I knew Cutler was the right choice. The Titans needed a passing QB that could run(Cutler). Not a running QB that could pass(VY). Which is why I think if Fisher is around next season the Titans will probably draft Jake Locker. I cant stand the thought of another rookie QB in LP Field, especially not next year because I think that will mean we will have to watch Kerry Collins throw the ball away some more on third down. But it is what it is.
And it sucks.

looked like they would be great players.....
thats why we draft them, nobody can go based on “he looks good but idk my crystal ball says hes gonna be a problem later”, come on man. WTF do you expect??? yeah pac had his OFF FIELD issue, but he was a damn good cornerback, and he was undersized. and VY is nowhere near to being done. just wait.

Im not really following your argument man...
because your kind of agreeing with what I was saying. But I guess i should say everything else that I didnt. When Vince Young came in as a rookie. I saw him and Pacman out partying all the time downtown at Graham Central Station. ON GAME WEEKENDS. This shit should have never went on. So WTF do i expect? I expect our coach to crack a whip on their asses, thats what I expect. You dont need a crystal ball to help decide if a player is going to be a problem, IF you beat things like honor, discipline, respect, and morals into their brains before they ever become a nuisance. Why did I want Antrel Rolle? Because he was a very good college player, he had great size for a corner(which is why he now plays safety too) and there were no issues with his character. He was the son of a police chief. Sure, he wasnt the return threat that Fisher covets so much, but I guess that really didnt matter since he put no stock in a return man this year. As far as Jay Cutler. I was sold on him the moment he threw the game winning TD pass to Earl Bennett in Neyland Stadium. And thats only after he gave SEC defenses fits his senior season.

my point....
was pertaining to you saying that drafting pac and VY was a mistake. yeah maybe it came out to be a mistake with pac, but not with VY, but still we draft b/c they were good players. you cant not draft somebody b/c you think they will be a problem later, maybe with the troublemakers that start off in college, what they do off the field doesnt take away the fact that they are good football players.

I can only say it was a mistake because of what I know now.
The only reason I see VY as a mistake is because our coaching staff doesnt have the balls to put him on the field. And its going to result in him probably not playing for us after this season. If I were VY, I would be trying to get the hell out of Nashville as fast as possible if Fisher and Dinger are still here next season.
On the flip side, if our coaching staff grows a pair by next week and VY starts the rest of the season and shows that we dont have to use our 1st round pick on a QB, then I would say that drafting him wasnt a mistake.
I wasnt saying it was a mistake because he isnt good. I was saying it was a mistake because our staff doesnt know how to use him. And when he leaves we will have wasted a top 3 pick on a guy that didnt even play out his rookie contract.
I hope I am wrong, Id like to see VY succeed here, I just dont think it will happen under Fisher.

I will say...
its starting to look like the biggest mistake we made was firing Floyd Reese without his wifes permission. LOL.

Haha...
yeah right. crazy bro. but back to what i was say, yeah i agree that they are not playing to his strengths, but i think that he is a good enough passer that will get better under dinger b/c he will continue to learn and despite what ppl say he is smart. that whack test result or whatever will always haunt him. and everything we all saw at UT, i understand if ppl think yeah that is was back then, but that can easily be translate to the NFL. and if the day it does, which is a big possibility, and if its not in a titans uniform??? that will be the biggest mistake we ever made. sure ppl can say im in a big imaginary world, but i just see what he can do all his career and i see him getting better by the day. and i want him to lead this titans team, b/c he is the kind of guy that is going to play with heart and emotion no matter what, even if ppl do think he quit on us(which he never said he didnt want to go in, f**k all this i can judge ppls body language shit, yeah psychologist probably can….NFL commentators, most likely not so much). just overlooked/misunderstood talent riding the bench right now, while we 0 and 6.

It was well known that the coaching staff back then didn’t want to draft Young.
They wanted either Leinhart or Cutler. Bud Adams forced them to deal with Young, despite the fact he didn’t fit the offense they wanted to run. That offense needed more of a pocket passer and that is not Young’s strength at all.
Granted, once the owner forced VY on them they should have adjusted the offense more to his game. But IMO Adams should have listened to his coaches (and considered VY’s Wonderlic test results more) and went ahead and drafted either Cutler or Leinhart. Sure, Leinhart hasn’t done well in Arizona but had he came here with Chow around, maybe he would have developed better under the same coach who made him good in college.

Im not here to defend Jay Cutler man.
Although I will say his rookie year the Broncos defense ranked 19th in the NFL and last year they ranked 29th. It is kinda hard to make the playoffs with your defense in the bottom 1/3rd of the league or worse.
by bull4real on Oct 23, 2009 7:39 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
yeah i heard....
defense wins game, its the old story, but your not gonna win many games if the score is 0 to 0. all in all, VY, playoff experience. Cutler, still waiting. and we could have went to the playoffs with VY under center last year, that’s right i said it, it needed to be said.

I agree, VY could have taken us to the playoffs
But, I dont rank QBs by whether or not they have been to the playoffs. Because then I would have to say Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco are better than Cutler, Romo, Rodgers, and JaMarcus Russell.
Just kidding about Russell.

Titans defense was 32nd.....
When VY had us one win away from the playoffs in 2006. I’m just saying he’s made it happen all by himself. Now let’s see how exciting it can get with all of these new weapons!

oh, yeah....
i mean going to the playoffs isnt the main factor in how i rank qb’s, but it still looks good on the resume. but just imo opinon, u could go on with what you were saying, b/c i think ryan and flacco could replace romo and russell on that list of yours. although i think romo is a good qb he just cannot hand the pressure of gettin to the next level i would have to wait and see when can achieve that. and i think russell is just a sleeping giant, he is struggling now yes, but i think he is progressing and its wont be long until he find his groove b/c he is a good qb also. but both not right now. and i as i hate to say b/c of my strong hatred of the ravens lol flacco is also good and is young, the same can be said for ryan. i think VY just needs that ACTUAL chance to get in there as the starter again, b/c the truth is collins was the backup that went in for the starter when VY got hurt. and i appreciate very much what KC did for us last year, shit we were a couple of fumbles away from winning the super bowl, once again i had to say it. but now that he has gone back to the KC of old and he was doing bad from 0-3 with no signs of improving (yeah dropped balls, ive seen every game, suck it up. VY did), the orginal starter should have his job back.

i like cutler....
but i dont think he can control his arm strength yet, hes always looking to put some zip on it (which is great), but sometimes he just doesnt have that touch needed to make other types of throws. and his footwork leads to alot of INT’s. but no doubt a good qb, just needs a little bit more adjustments.
