"It didn’t make me laugh at all. But it was for charity. It was for a great cause. He is trying to move the crowd,’’ linebacker Keith Bulluck said. "He is our head coach. He doesn’t have to explain himself. But he did. If people found it funny, then it’s funny. Of course it didn’t sit well with everyone, but it doesn’t matter what we think. You know what I mean?’’
--
"It was funny, man. I liked what he said because I want to be a winner too, so it was funny to me,’’ fullback Ahmard Hall said. "He was doing a favor to a good guy in Tony Dungy. He’s a good guy and they’ve been friends for a long time.’’
--
"I thought it was funny when I found out about it. I think everybody’s making a big to-do about a bunch of nothing right now,’’ center Kevin Mawae said. "For us, the only perspective that matters is in the locker room. I can’t speak on the fan perspective. For guys in the locker room, it wasn’t a big deal.’’

My first reaction to seeing Fisher wear that jersey was, I couldn't beleive my eyes.
I thought it was a fake. Then I realized he really did wear and it upset me. I am definitely more angry at the fact of how terribly the team is performing, however this was completely uncalled for by the head coach. Couple that with his comment and it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Why would he do this other than drawing attention to numero uno? Perhaps him and balloon boys Dad can get together and create a reality show, they can go jump out of airplanes in their Manning jerseys and land in the endzone and claim they can’t find Vince Young anywhere.

WOW, Just saw Keith Bulluck on local Newschannel 2
Bulluck said “If I wanted to feel like a winner, i would put on a #53 jersey”
He looooookkkkeeedd pissed! He did not seem to appreciate the humor.
Fisher was asked if he would do it again and he said “yes.”
Smashville – please tell me you can find the clip online.

I'm uploading now...

So maybe that's what Fisher intended
If it’s pissing the players off, maybe they needed to be pissed off.

You may be on to something.....
as calculating and as media savvy as Fish is, that might very well be his intention with this jersey thing.
I think it was ill advised, but that really might be his motivation.

a dangerous game to play i think
"hey, quit reading these ridiculous words of wisdom and get back to work!"

and too convoluted
probably. you’d really have to be a machiavellian type to try something like that.
simple way if you want to embarrass the team and call them out if you think it needs to be done is just to do it in a press conference and/or to their faces. not in a backhanded way at a charity event.
sure has got everybody talking though.

In my experience working in sports,
usually when the locker room splits, it starts along color lines – black guys/white guys.
I’m sure Bulluck just learned KVB was in negotiations for a new contract.
Once again….timing is everything.

I want to see the head coach a little p.o. as well instead of flaunting
his new shirt and not giving a crap about the way things are.

Uh, no.
think it was ill advised, but that really might be his motivation
I assure you this wasn’t his intent.
It was for sure premeditated on Fisher’s part for sure, just for a different reason.
The thought had to cross his mind that it might not go over well.

You'll have to ask Fisher that
its too sadistic for me to accept that he did it intentionally to get a rise out of his team.

If you are so sure that he didn't do it
to get a rise out of the team, why can’t you tell us why he did it???

Two reasons
Obviously it’s my “opinion”, but according to him it was meant to be a celebration of Tony Dungy.
1. To assume he did it to get a rise out of his team, you have to believe he’s sadistic (enjoys being cruel to others). Jimmy, if you believe that was his intent, you’ve taken one lame joke and cast it as the summary of his entire career.
2. This event was scheduled long before the realization that the Titans would lose 59-0. There had to be a bit of premeditation involved by others coordinating the event. In my opinion, he didn’t think it was a big deal. He probably just went along with it in ‘good humor’.
Look, I agree it was STUPID> he could have come up with a better introduction.
To me it says more about his poor decision making and the thought that he’s living in a fantasy world.

I didn't say what my opinion was
I was just pointing out that no one really knows why he did it besides him, so to poo-poo on someone else’s thought is silly.

I just threw the idea out there
who knows for sure what the heck he was thinking.
But, whatever his thinking, if the players feel that Fisher is calling them losers and giving them the finger, kind of like 50% of the fans who are all so pissed off, maybe it will get them to play like real football players again for a game or two. Do any of our guys put in the time commitment that manning does every off-season and during the season? I doubt it. Probably not many in the NFL do. Throwing him in their face isn’t a bad idea.

I guess if it works....
maybe it was worth it??
nah, on second thought. We will see that picture of him wearing the Colts jersey FOREVER

He could have been introducing any coach in the NFL right now and said the same thing.
