Bud Adams on the Titans
"If we end up losing every game or don't look better, I'd have to look at that pretty hard, you know what I mean?'' Adams said during a telephone interview Sunday night. "The way it is going, I don't know if we'll win any games, and that is unheard of in the National Football League."Right now, it's as bad as I've seen it, and that's a long time. I've never had a team start out like this. We had the best record in the NFL last year. I can't understand it.''
"Even if I am unhappy, you don't make changes in the middle of the season. You don't know what you might end up with,'' Adams said of the coaching staff. "We'll just have to see what happens the rest of the way. I'll have to make my decision after the season is up. Who knows, we might come back and win 10 games. Then it wouldn't look so bad compared to how we started out. We have to look at the overall picture.
"But right now we're not doing very well, and that worries me.'' ... "That is one of our problems, the coaching staff,'' Adams said.
"I have been wanting him to play Vince Young more because Collins has been having his problems out there,'' Adams said. "I just think we need to find out how well (Young) can do. If you don't play the guy and lose all your games, it is hard for you to see what he can do if he is not playing.
"Vince has won a lot of games for us. But Jeff is the one making those decisions; they are playing for him.''

interesting stuff in there
first, the “you don’t make changes in the middle of the season” line. ummm when did fisher become head coach?
second, he repeats his public support for vince, yet still recognizes that fisher is the one who makes that decision. i wonder if bud hasn’t been a tad more forceful behind closed doors.
third, points out a problem with the “coaching staff” but doesn’t get any more specific than that.

He's old, Hal.
The Tennessean writers were already speculating that he just doesn’t feel confident enough in himself any more to do anything dramatic. More than anything, I think he fears being Al Davis.

I fully support him actually staying out of this mess as much as possible
I think he fears being Al Davis
for reasons like this. Let the coaches make their decisions, because thats what they get paid to do, and then make your own coaching/personnel decisions in the off season

I agree in most cases.
This, to me, happens to be an extraordinary case, but 90% of the time, I’d say, “Right on!” In fact, that is what I said as late as last week.
This week, however, my favorite team suffered the worst defeat in the NFL in 35 years. That’s kind of where I draw the line on letting other guys make decisions. When you fail that completely, you need to lose your job IMMEDIATELY, just so the organization can retain its credibility.

His ability alone to recognize he might be compromised in his thinking at 86 years old
Proves he is 500 times more self aware than Al Davis.

i concur
Fisher has lost the respect and confidence of his players. Rebuilding starts now, starting with the coaching staff…

Bud is right
The season is tactifully not yet over so we can mathematically comeback and go to the play-offs. So the middle of the season is the bye week. If however we are 8-0 then Fisher must go.
bud and Vince are both from Houston and he has a connection with VY. we have to know what VY can do. Whether he is the futureor not?
yes the problem is a coaching one. the coaching and play calling are very unconventional compared to the rest of the league.

Steelers fans are attributing it to the stomping of the terrible towel
Steelers fans are saying that we are being cursed by stomping the terrible towel. Ever since then we have not won a game. They are demanding a formal apology by Lendale, Bullock and Chris Johnson.

i will throw a sock full of my own excrement at the next Squeelers fan to say there is a curse for the towel stomping. They deserve nothing less for stupidity like that.

Is Vince really the solution?
Except for yesterday where absolutely nothing went right, it seems like the biggest personnel problems are on the defensive side of the ball & with special teams.
Kerry’s not playing well, true, but I think the major issues with the offense this year are stupid penalties, an unwarranted shift away from a heavy ground game, and receivers dropping passes.
Vince won’t change those things, except that maybe we’ll run more with him behind center.

This debate has been rehashed over and over
Is KC the problem? No, but he certainly is A problem.
I don’t know that anyone who thinks VY should be playing thinks that he is the solution. In fact, I don’t know if there is a solution for this year.
That said, we should begin evaluating young talent, especially with a huge crop of players whose contracts will be up this year, to see who will fit in in the future and who we can or should let go. VY fits into this category.

4.9 passer rating.
Put Vince in. What a wimp post “Kerry’s not playing well, true…” LOL. “Not playing well”. Okay… that is one way to put it. The whole team is not playing well.. Vodka? “Not playing well” is damn near the Pro Bowl for him at this point.

Agreed
VY is not the answer. I’m not opposed to him being used, especially if we can’t right the ship after the bye week. Cecil has to go and I think he surely will. The one good thing coming out of this is probably a high draft pick. I hate to waste it on a QB since we did that for VY but we’re hardly the first team to draft a QB high and have it not work out in the end.

The Titans shouldn't throw another pass all season.
If you accept that, then put VY in because he is the better QB for the running game. When he’s in, he can force the Defense to account for a variety of different types of runs in a very wide variety of different ways. KC cannot do this.
Neither guy can throw a pass to save his life, so it’s time to DX the passing game all together and play to this team’s strength.

alright i watched the E:60 on VY yesterday, and it reaffirmed just how much respect I have for fish and how much I like him. If he wanted to move into the front office or something fine. But the fact is he cant be our coach anymore. And now for all these people saying, well whos better, orany team would love fisher — youre right. Fisher is a great coach. However coaching is not like being the qb or linebacker. You dont just go for the best available. The fact is that Fisher has lost the team, and lost his touch in guiding this team. The personality of him and the identity of this team are no longer in sync and that means hes not the RIGHT coach (different from the BEST coach). I love me some Jeff Fisher, but its time to go in another direction. I have no ill will and wish him the best, but how the last 12 months have unfolded have conspired to undo this relationship. He lost McNair, the Vince situation where he backed him and then Vince went crazy on him that one night, its just fallen apart.

I agree. a few props for fish.
time will remember Jeff Fisher well. he will go down as a great coach even after this season. other coaches haven’t been as lucky but they also haven’t been as successful, and I don’t just mean wins. he brought class and order to our team. people think well of us around the league and it has alot to do with Jeff fisher. I still think his time has come, but i feel his legacy is still in tact.

the BUD
You guys are in for a real treat. Bud could never seem to make the right decisions in Houston when things went wrong. There is no telling what that crazy old man might do. It’s the old “can’t stand prosperity” curse left over, and rearing its ugly head all the way from Houston, TX. Just look at the facts. Titans had the best record in the NFL last year, maybe worst this year. Houston Texans look like a superbowl team 1 week (or 2 quarters) and a 1st rd draft pick the next (or 2 quarters). Same basic scenario with either team. You guys have just been lucky to have had a great team all these years. Welcome to our world a little south of ya.

Sounds like some swagger from a no playoff appearance team. Best of luck the rest of the way.
