"We could go over all the records the Patriots have set in this game, but we would probably miss a couple of plays." -Jim Nantz

That about sums it up the Titans allowed the Patriots to pile up 626 totals yards of offense.  626 totals yards!  Let that sink in for a minute.  Did you ever think you would see a number like that from a Jeff Fisher team?  Chuck Cecil might want to stop and get some boxes when he gets off the plane.

Then there was the offense.  The Titans ended the game with -7 passing yards on 2 "completions."  One of those completions was the crazy throw forward fumble play from Kerry Collins to Nate Washington.  That play went for -22 yards.  Let that one sink in for a minute.  Has a team ever fired both of their coordinators in the same season?

If don't we would be the next opponent

I would say, I wish all the best on the next game. Go for to win on it.
But we are next!
Man I don’t know what to expect from the Titans-Jags game to be honest with you on Week 8…
But I tell you this:
After a performance like that, a HC in his 1-3 years would been fired…

Agreed.

They should fire Fisher on principal. That was actually WORSE than last year’s Thanksgiving game!!!

Awful.

Dropped balls everywhere. Bad passes everywhere. Absolutely 0 coverage. And the one game where CJ is startin out doing well, we put Lendale in so he can fumble it. I don’t know what to say other than DRAFT A QB AND FIRE OUR WR COACH. And probably some other coaches as well.

I said this three years in a row!

The left corner play has been our achilles heal. I like Britt, but the sub par receiving coare from last season was ok. Drafting Marks in the second round was a wasted pick. He’s not even in the active d-line rotation. We should have drafted a top corner in the first round. We need a shut down corner on the left side to compliment Finnie. After loosing 59 to 0, some players and coaching staff members need not be with the team after the buy week.

I'm speechless...

I knew we would lose this game but come on…. its a sad sad day when the Lions, Chiefs, and Raiders play better than we do
it’s hard to believe how hard and fast we’ve fallen in such a short time
absolutely nothing went our way today… maybe we can take something away from CJ putting up… 132 yards i think it was
the boys will be extremely busy the next two weeks in practice thats for sure

whats even worse

is jared cook seems a wasted pick now also, and considering the way things look, we could pick number 1 overall. Because we traded our 2nd round pick to move up in the 3rd and draft cook, the patriots now will get out early second round pick. I hope I am wrong about Jared but damm.

Fisher's attitude really bothers me!

He should be yelling, screaming, and raising hell. Yet he shows no emotion and blows of any notion that there are really some problems with game planning and players on the active roster. I like Fish, but we need someone to put a fire under this teams ass. Chuck Cecil was not a good choice as DC. We really miss Jim, Chuck calls a terrible defensive game!

It is the loss of Haynesworth and Schwarz. I don't like to bring it up but that was the

heart of the defense. Hayneworth coupled with KVB could pressure any QB and that led to the few points allowed last season. Was he worth 100 million. YES, Heck Yes. I know that sounds absurd. but this is just embarrasing. I am glad I left the house after 24 – 0 score. Michael Griffin looked horrible in the part of the game I watched. Dropped passes and poorly thrown balls were the flavor of the day. Ineffective play on both sides. There is NO excuse for 59 points at all. This has all the signs of Bill Calahans last year at Nebraska as the head coach. Everything unraveled and he just stood there, didn’t yell at anyone, he just watched the sky fall. He got fired and the Jets took him under their wing (pun intended) Anyhow, Cecil is out the door I am sure, and Fisher will probably be looking for work. What a disgrace, from last year to this.

This team hasn't looked competitive since the Houston game, and really the Steelers game more so.

Defense sucked it up in the Houston game, but the offense had fire, now neither side of the ball has any fire. Its like we lost to the steelers and gave up all hope on the season.

it saddens me to say that we will be stuck with jeff fisher for the rest of the year even if we go 0 and 16. no matter what happens bud adams is the type of owner that has high respect for jeff fisher and feels like fisher has earned the right to see what he can get out of a full season. but im almost positive if we continue to lose, especially in the way we have the last few weeks, fisher will no longer be the highest tenured head coach, come end of the season. at this point, winning will only realistically hurt us, because the better our record the lower our draft picks will be. we are already eliminated out of the playoffs so the superbowl is out of reach this year.

by TitansFanForever on Oct 18, 2009 8:40 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I think Bud holds Fisher.....

in high regard, but if you’ll remember, Fish got his job after Pardee was canned midway through the season.

I’m not condoning it, but Bud has fired a coach mid-season before.

Did this really happen?

Did we REALLY lose 59-0 and throw for -7 yards?
REALLY?!?!?!

This is the weirdest thing I’ve seen since Cincinnati beat us 62-7 back in the day.
Just weird……and awful.

We are a very bad team, a very BAD team. And we got beat by a fantastically better team than us today. New England came prepared with a playbook specifically designed to attack our weaknesses: overpursuit, and young CBs – and the Titans brought the same thing they bring every week.

I keep hearing excuses for the coaches – “we didn’t forget how to coach….” My question is: are you really coaching? Because it seems that if you can’t field the #1 defense in the NFL, you are incapable of finding ANY other way to win. What adjustments were made to specifically exploit the Patriots? Am I right to assume none, that this week was simply dedicated to playing “your game,” and playing it “better?” “Just do the same thing we do every week – only this week, make it work!”

There is a lot of blame to go around: turnovers, dropped passes, bad passes, bad defense (though our rookies are a bit outmatched, in their defense). But I gotta tell you, this coaching staff is not showing they are interested in finding ways to win games; they just have their formula; and if the talent doesn’t fit the system, we don’t make adjustments accordingly, we just lose. This a weekly thing now, stemming back to when the defense started struggling late last year. Can we EVER win a game when the defense doesn’t win it for us? EVER?!?!

Points of thought:

1.) Is there anything Scaife has done this year that prevents us from seeing what we have in our new TE with an 0-6 team?

2.) Is there anything Gage has done to prevent us from starting Britt to see what we have?

3.) is there anything our punter has done to prevent us from giving Trap a shot at a future?

4.) Is there anything Collins has done that justifies the further benching of a QB we invested a #1 pick in with a tricky contract situation coming up?

0-6 seems like a good time to start seeing what our youth can do. We have a lot of decisions to make this offseason, and each of these young players will figure into those decisions in one way or another.

Now is the time to stop pretending we’re going to turn the season around, and that we’re really not the bad team we see week in and week out. Now is the time to stop sacrificing the future just to satiate a head coach’s desire to avoid the reality of how far our team is from being a contender right now.

Let the kids play.

… I think it’s time for both to go.

This team needs to be shook up. We need a new QB and a different philosophy.

Alladin's Lamp Is Dead

F isher has no control over his players? Nuff said, didn’t you! When Mendenhall got an attitude during game films, Coach Mike Tomlin sat his pre madonna butt out for two games. Mendenhall has been playing like a man with a vengeng\ce and a mission. The Titan’s coaching staff might not have control but Pittsburgh sure does. Like Six Lombardi Trophies. Worst game I've ever witnessed

Being a fan of this franchise(Oilers/Titans) I’ve seen lots of bad games. Shutouts, blowouts, blown leads etc. NEVER have I seen a more pathetic embarrassing
showing that yesterday afternoon. Everytime we would get something going on offense
we would turn the ball over and NE would score off it. On Defense nobody tackling and every ball thrown was completed with ZERO resistance. March up and down the field! It was similar to NE running their offense without anyone there to defend their plays. Embarrassed doesn’t even begin to quantify what I feel. This team gave up!!! I was always a Fisher supporter, even met him a couple times but he has officially lost this team. Just Like Denver w/ shanahan its time for a change boys and ghouls. “46”

Burn the uni's and fire Chuck Cecil immediately. He should have been fired 3 weeks

ago. Fisher needs to get these guys fired up. They look like they are preparing for a spelling bee instead of a football game, where is the desire ? Fisher has lost control of the situation and should probably be let go as well. Overall I still like the guy, but when this happens, someone has to be left go.

To add to that

Dinger needs to go as well. Sorry, but NEGATIVE SEVEN passing yards is just offensive.

Fire both of the coordinators and we’ll be on the road to recovery.

by TNTitans on Oct 19, 2009 8:07 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Changes

Fire Chuck Cecil – He is not getting it done (demotion back to DB coach would be fine)

Reassign Marcus Robertson – He is not getting it done at DB coach, but was great as a front office guy

Fire WR Coach – too many drops and they are underachieving

Fire Mike Reinfeldt in the offseason – We need somebody that is not a hand puppet of Jeff Fisher’s. Sure Fish and Floyd Reese didn’t get along but it worked. Neither side had too much power.

Trade the following for draft picks if possible – Lendale White (injury probably makes that impossible with the trade deadline on Tuesday), Kyle Vandenbosch, David Thornton and Kevin Mawae

Re-sign QB Patrick Ramsey

Make the following player changes:

Punter – Trapasso for Hodges
OLB – McGrath for Thornton
Center – Harris for Mawae
QB – Vince for Kerry, and then if that don’t work after 5 games or so, Ramsey for Vince – You never know!
TE – Cook for Scaife
WR – Britt MUST start – bench whoever or let them spit time but Britt MUST start
CB – Work with McCourtey and leave him starting, even when Harper comes back
RB – Ringer for LenDale as #2 behind CJ

Begin scouting ALL available QBs in next year’s draft – We MUST draft a legit franchise QB with our first pick next year

Spend money this offseason. We had it last year but didn’t use it like we could have – to fill holes and build depth.

With a drafted franchise QB and some well spent money in free agency, this team can be back on top 2 years from now, but it all starts with the changes I laid out here.

QB...

Only part I disagree with is getting a QB with our first pick. I don’t think the money value is worth it. Look at VY as an example there. I’d rather see them get someone like a center or LB with the first pick, and pick up someone like Bradford in the 2nd round. Look at Henne in Miami. There are a lot of QB’s who could play well behind a good OL. Let’s keep the OL strong with early picks and save some money on getting a QB later.
