Tennessee Titans Fan Approval Poll

After the popularity of Jimmy's MCM Coach Approval Rating, we thought that we could expand that idea to include other facets of the organization. So, borrowing an idea from our friend Gondeee at Talking Chop, your SB Nation destination for all things Atlanta Braves, we give you the first weekly Tennessee Titans Fan Approval Poll.

Star-divide

We plan to post the poll every Tuesday, giving us a day to process Sunday's events (or the Monday night game), and plan on leaving the poll open until Thursday evening. We will then track the results week-to-week and update the changes.

Here's how it works: Below you will see a poll with choices from 0 to 10. You should vote in the poll taking into account all aspects of the Titan Organization. These should include, but are not limited to, ownership, front office, coaching staff, players, product on the field and even gameday experience. 0 being 0% approval and 10 being 100%.

Also make sure to leave a comment to explain why you voted like you did! And remember, this is YOUR poll, not MCM's. You vote like you choose!

Poll
On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being 0% approval, and 10 being 100% approval, what is your approval rating of the Tennessee Titan Organization?

I voted a 3

Simply because I’m not totally anti-Jeff Fisher yet (sitting Kearse took some cahones, and I feel like that is a sign he is trying to jumpstart something), I still think we are a better team than Oakland, St Louis, Detroit, Buffalo and Washington at least, and I love LP Field and they do put on a darn good show for the fans on Sunday.

However, that 0 and 5 is horrifying and disgusting. And this team showed no signs of improving on Sunday.

I said Washington and meant Kansas City.

Although Washington is not great.

0%

For similar reasons that you listed above, just different logic. I actually do think we have a decent team. I think our players are probably middle of the pack in terms of NFL talent. But, we’ve done the worst job in the NFL of adapting our scheme to our personnel. The reasons for my 0%:

1). Not having the punt returner position resolved by the beginning of the season.
2). Not giving Lendale more touches.
3). Letting Fred Graves keep his job for another year.
4). A disgusting arrogance that you can lose a player like Albert Haynesworth and not skip a beat. It’s not to say that they should have signed him for $100 M, but you have to adapt.
5). Not starting Kenny Britt.
6). Continuing to start Kerry Collins when he is playing some of the worst football of his life (and that’s saying a lot).
7). Letting Chris Carr go because you thought he was a worse corner than Nick Harper.
8). Letting Kerry Collins throw the ball more than 30 times in EVERY. SINGLE. GAME.
9). Only giving the #3 rusher in the NFL in terms of total yards 16 carries a game.

pretty fair assesment

Although a zero might be a bit harsh, coach fisher hasn’t had this team properly prepared for the rigors of an nfl season and he hasn’t utilized the talent he’s got. I’d grade him a notch higher, only though for last season. This year has been a disaster plain and simple.

wow man you hit the nail right on the head. i voted 0 also.

it all starts at the top so fisher must go in my opinion. yeah hes a players coach alright thats why we havent won any playoff games in forever and now we are losing reg season games now. all those mistakes and not motivating these guys cus hes"players coach" tells me hes fish bait.

I love the Titans

but we are in desperate need of change…I really don’t care what it is, as long as we are turning things around…this team just look sad right now.

Bad Question, Poor Timing

Why would you lump the entire organization into the poll right now. Of course, the fans will vote in large part on how they see the team.

The Titans organization is top notch, they produce the same product they always have.

In my opinion, you should have made this question specific to Fisher and/or the team.

I tend to agree...

I’m not sure what the value of such a poll is. The results may be good to determine whether it’s a good idea to start a business selling Titans merchandise, but that’s about all I can see.

Because it's going to be a season long undertaking. Not a "how do you feel in week 5" discussion.

Although that is what this week’s edition is. That is the point.

If your hate for Coach Fisher (or your hate for this blog) forces you to want to vote a 0, vote a 0. That is the point.

Superhorn did, and I fully expect that if the team turns it around, his approval will increase.

So, your response is exactly what we expected!

Once again, the question is wayyyyy to general

If they were threatening to move the team to another city, I might see the relevance of this question.

Right now, and for the near future, the conversation is going to be regarding Fisher and the team.

Unless you can point to very specific instances involving the front office, ticket office, cheerleaders, T-Rac, and administrative staff that have let you down in some way, then I demand you retract this question and keep it focused on football.

Jesus, dude.

Just vote. If you think the rest of the organization is doing a great job, vote an 8, and put your reasoning in the thread.

by SuperHorn on Oct 13, 2009 1:26 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I voted a 5

I’ve always felt you should judge coaches by taking away their worst season and best season and see what you got left. I applied similar logic to this question and came up with a 5.

If you take out this year, which in my opinion is the worst year in terms of talent and expectations combined with epic failure, and the Super Bowl year, you are left with an organization that puts it all together at times and is pretty consistent in its philosophies, but does not seem to be able to maintain it past a couple of years due to gambling too much on older players.

Also, if you take out the Super Bowl year, the organization has only had one successful, deep playoff run. So that leaves me with a 5 to a 6, and I went with five because I am a bit pissed about this year (despite saying I should leave it out. Yes, I am a hypocrite).

I guess I read it a different way.

I mean, I guess the owner and the head coach are the same, but so many other things have changed. I wasn’t looking at it as rating the organizations history, more of how well they are performing NOW.

Different example. If there were a fan approval poll for the Florida State Seminoles, I’d rate it pretty low as well, despite Bobby Bowden’s success in the 90’s.

by SuperHorn on Oct 13, 2009 2:11 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I still can't decide how much weight to assign each facet of the organization

I would initially say, the coaching staff and team should carry the majority of the weight, maybe 5-6? But then, you should lump the GM and Owner into that somehow.

How much should be devoted to the remaining balance? How much for front office? How much for total fan enjoyment over the years? How much for the facilities? How much for marketing including website?

Could you give a chart assigning overall value to each category?

I'll put it this way

On a scale of 1-10 determining how pissed I am about the Titans season, with 1 being – I’m totally satisfied, and 10 being – I’m pissed, I would say I rate about an 11.

I’ll reserve a scaled rating on the total organization until I can see a fair rating scale.

Get over it.

If it’s that important, put up your own fanpost with your own set of criteria. Or, even better, take it over to your own blog.

I gave a 7

While I’m extremely unhappy with how this season has gone I’ve liked how the coach and organization has performed in Tennessee since the move. One season doesn’t have me bailing on them. Sure, they have had other bad seasons but we knew they were rebuilding and expected that. They were suppose to be contenders this year and have been a major disappointment. But I know they are working their asses off to put a quality product on the field and I can see that.

The Freak?

Has anyone heard what Kearse did for Fisher to cut him like that?

by conder7 on Oct 13, 2009 1:31 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Worse than benched

At least if he had benched him he’d been there he just got game day scratched.

Yea I know that,

but what did Jevon do to piss Jeff off? Did he bitch about losing too much or something?

I voted a 2.

Because from top to bottom, they are not getting it done. And they should have made something happen by now.

This is definately not an off year. Nothing is going well and i know that this will not be repeated next year. HOWEVER there are a lot of key moves to be made this summer and if we do lose one of the greatest linebackers to ever wear a Titans uniform my approval will go down to a 3. If anybody deserves a paycheck it’s Keith. Fisher is good but I could see them definately looking for a replacement at Defensive Coord. and Special Teams coach.
