"Now that we know our opponent, we have a tremendous challenge ahead of us. Baltimore has improved in all areas since we saw them earlier this season. They are built around a strong run game and a great defense, which reminds us of the classic matchups against them in the past."

Man I hate the Ravens.
HATE, HATE, HATE the ravens.
Did I mention how much I hate the Ravens?

Seeing the Ravens in the first round was definitely the worst case scenario.
That said, if they win this week, I’ll feel confident. The Ravens have the best match-ups against the Titans by far of any team remaining in the AFC.

I disagree
we struggle most with balanced offenses that can ring-up points on the ground and in the air. We can line-up and beat any top defensively-oriented team, and Fisher is a master at winning ugly like this will probably be… we’ve already played 3 out of the top 4 defensive units in the league, and we beat everyone of them.
Plus, Joe Flacco is going to be in a world of hurt when he limps out of LP Field next Saturday.

I absolutely agree with you
The Chargers actually scare me more than the Steelers or Ravens. Offenses that can strike quick and get a lead make us stop playing the way we play best.

That's crazy-talk.
I mean, the balanced Offense thing, okay, but the idea that the Chargers are better than the Ravens is just not accurate. If anything, what we learned Saturday was the this year’s Indy team was never as good as we thought. They never had a running game, and without that, it was hard for them to hold the ball in critical situations and/or convert short 3rd Downs.
The Ravens are a good team. Teams that have beaten them this year have done it for the most part by exploiting short pass patterns against their blitzes. KC can do that and do it well, but he has to play better than he did last time.

I agree 100% that the Ravens are better than the Chargers
I just think the Chargers are a tougher match-up for how we play.

I don't see it.
The Titans can stop Sproles pretty easily, and Rivers can be loose with the football. Plus, I think our secondary is better than their WRers for the most part.
Flacco probably isn’t ready to win a game all by himself, whereas Phillip Rivers can do that for the Chargers, but then again, the Ravens are smart enough not ask him to. On the other hand, Norv Turner seems to regularly put his team in any number of impossible situations.

I guess
If you believe this:
The Titans can stop Sproles pretty easily, and Rivers can be loose with the football. Plus, I think our secondary is better than their WRers for the most part.
Then, I’d assume you think we can stop Baltimore’s offense as well, right?
So, is your concern our offense’s ability to put up points?
by SuperHorn on Jan 5, 2009 3:54 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
that is definitely my concern
just because our defense doesn’t give up many points doesn’t mean the ravens won’t score. they are about as good as it gets at scoring without their offense on the field. we could beat them 17-6 in terms of offenses vs. defenses, but still lose 20-17 overall if we allow their defense or special teams to score points. we know what our defense does, in 90% of games it gives up 10-17 points, which our offense has been able to win with in every game except the houston game. but if the raves D/ST scores, that number starts to move up towards 20-28 points per game, which our offense will have a tough time covering against a defense as good as the ravens.

As I've said elsewhere, if KC can hit the short slants on the outside...
…this game is a BIG WIN for the Titans. If KC plays, in his words, “bone-headed” then this is probably not a win.
