Here's a few things to think about
Okay, so here's some things I was thinking. So Since Schwartz is Lions new Head Coach, I was wondering if he might try to get Kerry Collins or especially Hanesworth to come up there? I mean, if he is able to, I could definitely see him going for them.
Also, in a side note. I really hope we make a strong push for T.J. Hush. He would make a great addition that even VY would make great use of. What do you guys think?

I don't see
Schwartz having any impact on where Collins would end up… Maybe Albert
I wanna trade for Boldin

People here in Michgan seem to think albert is a lock

lol
That’s a stretch. Washburn runs that defensive line and I’d have a hard time believing Albert would pick Schwartz over Wash if he was basing his decision on that.
Also, Albert would have to be willing to go play for the Lions. ’nuff said.

It's called paycheck.
As in the sentence, “I will play for whoever writes me the biggest paycheck.”

It's possible that he goes to Detroit
But I don’t think it changes our chances to resign him. He wants to be in Tennessee and said he would give us a discount.
If we don’t sign him he is going somewhere. I would rather him go to Detroit than Houston. We almost never play Detroit, they wont be good for a season or two, and I would like the see Schwartz do well there.

Yes
If he isn’t going to be here than it needs to be Detroit. We don’t play them again until 2012.

want him here
but detroit would be cool. I’ve never rooted for an NFC team before, think I’m going to adopt the lions next season.

If he doesn't re-sign, then I'd put a zillion dollars on him going to either...
…DC or Dallas.
Say it with me: He’s gonna get PAAAAAAAAAAAID.

Ugh
We’re not getting Housh. Or Bouldin. Or soon to be FA Terrell Owens. Or Percy Harvin. Or Jeremy Maclin. Etc. Etc.
Wish we were, but it’s not the way this FO operates.
Someone else mentioned it, and I wouldn’t be shocked…If someone like Chris Wells or Shonn Green falls to the Titans, take them and show Lendale White the door.

That would aggravate me in the worst way.
I mean, you don’t want to re-sign the guy? Fine. But to cut him early and then draft ANOTHER RB when it is now CLEARLY not a need position… there’s no sense in that. And we’re still paying Chris Henry, too.
We need a wideout, a CB, maybe a LB, and maybe a DT. There’s lots of needs. RB is not one of them. Not while we have CJ and… anyone else.

LenDale White should be released
But I doubt he will be. He has no explosiveness through the hole and has a terrible attitude in the locker room. I say we draft the best player available in the first round because we don’t really have any major holes. Plus there is always the possibility of acquiring Brandon Jocobs if we want a true power back, I’m pretty sure he’s going to be a FA this year…

hummm...
I think I would have to agree with you. Our defense would suffer a little, but man our run game would be beastly
by theologic on Jan 16, 2009 2:09 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
Disagree...
Lendale isn’t great, but he does his job down by the goalline. An upgrade at RB would be wonderful, but if it’s Jacobs versus AH, I’ll take AH every time. He makes this defense elite.

having an unstoppable run attack and a great (if not elite) defense would be fine for me
would take a hell of a lot of pressure off of vince too. that aspect alone has to get you on board, doesn’t it superhorn? albert is a force, no doubt. but we can churn out more d line studs than we can keep on the roster. everyone succeeds on our dline, almost without exception, and the thought of cj and bj have concurrent 1300+ yard rushing seasons would keep me warm at night if albert is up in detroit.

Still Disagree
We already have a great RB and a good RB. Two top ten backs would be amazing, but most of the time one of them is going be on the sidelines. If they are going to spend big dollars on a FA, I’d rather it be a WR so we can have our best playmakers on the field at one time. And, given Lendale’s post game comments and that it’s a contract year, I think he’ll be more motivated than usual.

lendale is a very very average situational runningback
he poached short tds all season and got more than half of his yards against detroit, kc, cleveland, and one run against the packers (400+ of his 770 yards on those 3 games and a play). in our four losses total, he was nearly worthless, good for only 31 carries, 95 yards, no tds and 1 killer fumble. to say he couldn’t be upgraded, and upgraded big time is foolish. we are always going to be a run first team, so another top flight running back would be incredibly useful. just watch the last 2 and a half quarters against baltimore where we had zero options for running the ball effectively. cj is a small dude, so anyway that we can insure his health by having a better option only makes him more effective and more likely to last longer. and finally, if and when vince gets back under center, the less he is asked to do with his arm the better for us all. if we a going to try and run 35+ times a game, why not have elite players taking all of those carries?
this is all probably a pipe dream anyway cuz i can’t imagine the giants letting him go, but still, in theory it would be a great move.

and the whole "it's a contract year" argument is bullshit and makes me want him even less
he’s paid 7 figures to try hard all the time. f**k him if the only thing that will get his lard into shape is knowing he needs to put up in order to get paid the next year.

Regardless
of the reason, if he decides to get in shape he’s worth having for at least this year. Draft a RB next yr when he’s gone, it just makes more sense. Give Chris Henry some more touches here and there in the meantime.
I would much rather have Albert than Jacobs. But hey thats just me.

Chris Henry is gone after this season
I am certain.

You're misunderstanding me
I think Lendale needs be upgraded. But, for the time being, I think we have larger issues than running back. Namely WR.
It’s clear he isnt meant for this offense (maybe even the NFL in general), and we saw that last Saturday. I still maintain that Chris Brown was a better running back for this team than he was.
Back to the original point, though, this team is about defense and that starts with the D-line up front. We have an identity on offense with CJ. I think we lose our identity on defense without Albert up front. So, when I say I’ll take Albert over Brandon Jacobs, it’s saying less about Lendale and more about my support for Fat Albert.

The Giants will definitly not be letting him go
But if we had him we’d have the best running tandem in the league by far.
I would see us signing him before TJ Housh tho.

I would just rather win games…
And I got the Lendale jersey over CJ cuz I’m closer to Lendale’s size than CJ, figured it would be more fitting. I keep eating like I am I will be moving into an Albert jersey.

well, 99% of the time
Well, 99% of the time the Titans don’t get the best FA. But then again we got Crumpler, and he was considered the best TE. And I know that, that was more that he wanted to be here. But what if we just get lucky. I mean we did have the best regular season team and we could have a great shot being back. So maybe someone wants to be a part of that.

Difference is...
Old TE’s, even the good ones, don’t command nearly as much cash as elite receivers in their prime. We’re comparing apples and oranges…
