Titans should think about there future, and get off VY
This is my first post and my views may not be shared by my fellow bloggers. They are still my oppinions and i believe in them. First, i dont think we should re sign Albert or kerry. second i dont think nashville has given vince a fair chance.
Resigning Albert is a big mistake. he is one of the best DL in the league but he only played in every game except the last on because it was a contract year. He was palying for his future money. In the past shows it, with injuries causing him to miss games. We had a taste of that this year, we he locked up not being able to be franchised taged due to making the probowl. missing the final game against indy. IF Titans sign Albert to a long term contract he will play in six to seven games a year. Titans also dont have the cap room. Titans are very deep in the DL position with alot of young studs. Titans also need to let Kerry Collins QB for another team or play on his farm. We picked VY third pick in the first round for a reason. If Collins gets a two year contract that will put Young in his contract year then what. resign him after only one year starting. Collins didnt put up great #'s in our 13-4 season, and he can not repeat it again next year. Finally Nashville has been too hard on Vince Young. Vince went 8-4 and won rookie of the year his first year in the league. Titans was one game away from making the playoffs in a season that was pretty much proclaimed a rebuilding year. in Youngs softmore year titans end with a 10-6 season and a spot in the playoffs, while playing with injuries for most of the year. i know his stats were not good at all, but it was his second year in the league. The only stat that matters is WINS TO LOSSESS. with Himendinger as a offenses coordinater (thank god chow is gone)and Chris johnson in the back field, Vince has the master mind and another big time playmaker to help him succeed. think of the speed and wepons we have in the backfield next year with CJ and VY. sounds like a great equation to me.

I don't completely disagree with you
I tend to think that 70% of Big Al is better than 100% of any other DT, but I could be biased.
Other than that you make some good points. Except this… Collins lit it up in big games versus the Steelers and the Ravens.
I mean if we don’t fumble it’s quite possible that we could’ve won the Superbowl. Fisher knows how close we got with Collins as our QB.
So assuming that VY is doing great in practice and improving his accuracy it’s still hard not to go with the proven vet who brought you so far.

Yeah. Let's not blame Collins for LenDale's and Alge's fumbles.
Several people played very well in this last game:
- KC (note: his one INT was as good as a punt.)
- Justin Gage (that HAD to be a career game)
- CJ
- The defense
More than any other factor, this game was lost by one very, very bad fumble on the one-yard line. The Ravens are a good team, and against good team, you cannot make critical mistakes and win. You certainly cannot make critical mistakes TWICE and win.

Was this a serious comment?
I was all set to defect to the Giants for the rest of my life.
Oh well.
Go Chargers!

Yeah, i was dead serious.
I was mad. I was really, really mad. And I was ready to leave forever.
I think I described myself as a “brokeback” Titans fan in another thread. I just can’t seem to quit them, even though the team drives me crazy sometimes. A lot of times.
Take that for what it’s worth.

I was really, really mad as well
But I don’t understand how or why you could just try and quit liking your favorite team? You sound like Vince…

I was upset.
Twice in a decade was enough to make me think seriously about finding a new team.
Seriously, it was a bad scene in my house on Saturday night and Sunday, to the point where I realized that I need to back away from this stuff a bit emotionally before I drive myself crazy over something that is not under my control in any way, shape, or form. Plus, all my friends are Giants fans, and my wife has begged me—repeatedly—to start following one of the local teams if for no other reason than the shear difficulty of buying Christmas presents for me.
Heh. I wish I sounded like Vince. But it’s not like they pay me to be a fan. In fact, I pay them for that priviledge.

I was only
half serious about the Vince shit… But I understand where your coming from now. Just didn’t sound like you were too diehard of a fan for someone that has been on here for as long as you and with the regularity. Something just wasn’t making sense to me.

I wasn't cursing you. I'm glad you asked. Felt good to talk about how pissed off I was.

Well...
That’s good then, glad I could be of service LoL. Just imagine throwing these nice endings to season to the Oilers debacle vs the Bills in the playoffs when we were clearly the best team in the NFL.

I don't want to.
Back then, I was five. And my hero was Dan Fouts. And yes, there were quite a few of these same types of disappointments in the old Air Coreal days.

Ummmm yeah....
Vince is part of the future one way or another, so you can’t say get off VY and think about the future. Actually, you can say whatever you want, but it may not make sense.
So we should just let Collins ride off and go with Vince as our Qb cuz we picked him 3rd overall? Even if that could end up in us having a 10 loss season.
You said in that post the only thing that matters is Wins and Losses… The Titans with Kerry Collins this year won quite a few games no?
I feel that Collins was huge for us all yr… Especially when we needed him most. He should have been the winning Qb in that game Saturday.

Fisher Statement
The statement that Fisher made about VY and this off-season: We expect 100% commitment.
To me, that implies he has not been 100% committed in the past, especially this past off-season.
Vince is one of those guys that didn’t have to “commit” 100% in high school or college. But the NFL is different. Players with far less talent than Vince have been much more successful because they have put in the time to learn the nuances of the game.
It’s up to Vince…

I think Fisher said it all
with the commitment thing. I really think that if Vince is there and puts in the time, he will get a shot next year. He was a high draft pick and is supposed to be our future.

I have this theory...
… that some percentage of VY’s posse is continually employed in aguing for him on message boards all over the Internet.

Lets clear up one thing right effin' now:
Albert has been lights out since he came back from suspension, which was before his contract year. That whole debacle made him grow up and realize how much his reputation and legacy meant. He’s not the lazy slouch who comes in out of shape and takes plays off anymore because he has pride, not a light checkbook.

This is a tough situation
Based on what I’ve seen Vince do on the field, I’m behind him as the starter, or at least want to see what he can do with a year to watch and learn. That said, I think there may be more going on behind the scenes with him and Fisher/the team.
We’ve all beat our heads against the wall enough about this, which I’m sure we’ll continue to do more of this offseason. But, I think this will all flush itself out with the way the KC situation is handled. If Kerry comes back, chances are he’s been guaranteed the starting job here and I’d guess that Vince’s time in Tennessee is limited.
by SuperHorn on Jan 14, 2009 11:18 AM CST reply actions 0 recs
Let me also clarify
I came here three years ago as a Vince fan first and a Titans fan second. That has changed. As much as I’d like to see him succeed, the most important thing is what’s best for the team and locker room. If that means Vince needs to find a new home, I’m behind the Titans decision.

I was thinking you’d be gone like Kaiser Soze if VY ever got cut or traded.
Good to know you’ll still be around.

what scares me about the vince situation...
is what we as fans arent privy to. i just get a bad feeling that what we’ve seen of vinces emotional issues might just be the tip of the iceberg. call it intuition but i just cant shake the feeling. fisher has a way of keeping the lid on things like the government (you find out what REALLY happened years after, when nobody cares any more). not faulting him for that at all, its part of his job.
but when you look at the whole picture, the body language, his comments (his mothers comments) the incident, it appears that he might be a ticking time bomb.
i’m no shrink but i have to admit its all weird as hell. i feel good (not great) with KC behind center, and really nervous at the thought of THIS vince taking the helm again.
with that said i’ll say this in vince’s defense, the man doesnt have a grey hair on his head…you cant just give up on him so early.
