Who do you keep?
I'm ready to move on and look forward to next season. I'm already excited on what the Titans will do in the off season to make our team better.
One of the things they have to look into is the resigning of our free agents. From what I read somewhere, we have four key players who will become free agents next year. Kerry Collins. Brandon Jones. Bo Scaife. Albert Haynesworth.
I see Bo Scaife as an easy decision to re-sign. Brandon Jones... I don't know. He is easily replaceable. Most intriguing is Kerry Collins and Albert Haynesworth.
With the uncertainty of VY's efficiency, the signing of Simms and Kerry Collins performance in 2008, the decision on KC's free agency has become as important as Albert Haynesworth's or maybe more.
Now.. hypothetically.. if you are the Titans and you can only keep either Collins or Haynesworth next year for another run at the Superbowl... who would you keep?
If you asked me this question in WK12, I would say, without hesitation, Albert Haynesworth. But after seeing the Steelers game where we played without Big Al and KC had a good game, and the Ravens playoff game where KC has stepped up and showed that he can perform well on big games... I am not so sure now.
One thing I know is that Kerry Collins is a very capable game manager, he can win games, protect the ball well and by now, knows the system and has, more or less, mastered the offense. Can we risk losing him and still improve next year?
Or is keeping Albert Haynesworth more important because the Chain Gang will crumble if he leaves and what happened in the Steelers game was just a fluke performance by our patched up D-Line?
Tell me guys what you think?

35 million in cap space
The Titans have plenty of $$$ and will re-sign both if they choose to. Jeff Fisher, although this has not been made public, has final say on all personnel now and his philosophy is going to be to keep his own players and not let them leave.
Titans I know are free agents this off-season:
Big Albert
Kerry Collins
Chris Simms
Chris Carr
Ahmard Hall (Restricted FA from what I can tell, but details are sketchy)
Rob Bironas
Craig Hentrich
Brandon Jones
Eric King
Justin McCareins
They’re not going to be able to resign them all (and McCariens is the only guy I seriously want gone), so it’s a very wide-open process.
Where I was raised 2 + 2 = 3rd and 6.
The 2010 group is something to keep an eye on as well:
Dave Ball
Eugene Amano
Tony Brown
Keith Bulluck
Alger Crumpler
Nick Harper
Jevon Kearse
Donnie Nickey
Stephen Tulloch
Kyle Vanden Bosch
LenDale White

I don't keep anybody.
Disband the team. Move it to Mexixo City. I don’t care. They’ll never have another chance like they threw away on Saturday. The sooner they can accept that, the happier I’ll be.

remember
our d-line was impressive w/o AH and KVB against a shitty o-line. we need albert, period.

My thoughts
Big Albert- Must sign Albert
Kerry Collins- Bring him back for 2 years or less 5-6 million per
Chris Simms- Who cares? He shouldn’t be counted on.
Chris Carr- Yes. Solidified return game
Ahmard Hall- Gotta have the Sarge.
Rob Bironas- We need Bironas.
Craig Hentrich- Duncakes.
Brandon Jones- Bring him back at a good price. Appeared to be coming on this year.
Eric King- Appears to be a quality back-up. Bring him back.
Justin McCareins- I wouldn’t bring him back if he paid the team $1 million.

Chris Simms
I look at Simms as VY insurance. Collins is old and he can start next year, but we need a QB for the future. If it’s not VY (and the jury is still out) then we can either move to Chris Simms or draft a QB. Fisher seems to want to keep 3 QBs (which we have rarely done). I think that means either:
A) Fisher doesn’t really think VY will pan out
or
B) Simms has done so well in practice that Fisher doesn’t to let him walk.
Either way I think it’s wise to hold on to him if we can (for not too much money).
it's pretty telling, i think
how fisher just gushes about how hard simms has worked and what kind of improvement he has made in a short time and all this. then he turns around and reads vince his rights with the “nothing less than 100% commitment to improvement over the offseason will be tolerated” stuff. just more and more confirmation of what i have been suspecting for a while: fisher, barring a miraculous turn around, is pretty much over VY. again….still just my speculation, but the evidence just continues to pile up.

The question is...
How many times can a team lose its top 10 draft pick and continue to be a successful franchise for substantial period of time? I realize getting a little ahead of myself considering we don’t know whats going on or what Fish necessarily thinks of Vince. But just think how would it affect the franchise over the long haul to have Vince the #3 pick and Dick boy the #6 pick not work out.

I think a pretty long time...
… as long as we keep finding gems like Finnegan, Roos, & Stewart in the later rounds. Plus we’re good at signing quality free agents. Personally, tho, I am hoping that Griffin and CJ are the beginnings of a turn around in that area.
You know what...
Thats a really good answer. I wasn’t sure if it would have an effect on us or not as a franchise down the road. Now I’m pretty sure it won’t. I forget we got some steals to make up for it…

My list:
Big Albert – I’m torn. There’s a real potential to make a mistake here—either way.
Kerry Collins – Keep for sure on a 2-year deal. Not even a question.
Chris Simms – Sure, depending on price and salary cap conditions.
Chris Carr – Is Eric King healthy? You can probably let one of them walk.
Ahmard Hall – Too hard to find a good FB to let one go. See also: Neal, Lorenzo.
Rob Bironas – Lotta kickers out there. Price is an issue.
Craig Hentrich – It’s time for retirement.
Brandon Jones – Depends on the going rate and the development of The Hawk.
Eric King – I take King over Chris Carr.
Justin McCareins – No.
