VY Question is...

Was Norm Chow correct about his attitude? I didn't like what I was seeing after that INT to Harvey. The way he had his head down while the coaches were trying to talk to him. Bad news. Get it together VY.
Sorry for not being around to do the threads with you fellow fans today. Due to Thunder storms Saturday my sons pop warner game was conveniently rescheduled for today Sunday at 1pm. How lucky am I?
Bitter/sweet/bitter/sweet and more bitter/sweet. I got to see my sons team kick ass again, I got to miss the 1st 2 and a half quarters of the game, I got to see us play the last quarter and a half, I got to see VY get hurt, I got to see us win, and I got to see our fearless leader look like a fearful terrible leader. What a day!
Vince Young: Its time to do something. I have no idea what. Something is not right with his attitude, I don't know if he has been spoiled by the Titans. I don't know what to say. Actually I do have something to say. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd say this, but he is holding back our football team. I cannot support a guy that is not there for the rest of the team. These guys will go to war for him and from the way it looks the feeling is not mutual. The shit he pulled today I would never expect from him, maybe L.T. or Reggie Bush's punk ass but not Vince. I know some of you are gonna kill me for getting on him like this but I have defended him long enough. I don't feel he's done enough to deserve any more free passes, especially with the way he acted today. I do love him. I do hope he straightens himself out. He just needs to do something to prove to me that he is the right guy to lead this team. As everyone can see we have a really good football team. What's missing? Other than a couple of WRs of course.
I'd like to go on with my feelings on this but its been a long day. Good night. 1-0 Hell Yeah!

I have to agree here.
I think that if Vince improves this team will be unstoppable… but with his poor performance we are just a team that is almost there. Without a strong, confident, and consistent quarterback I dont believe that this team can win a superbowl. For now he’s our quarterback and we’re winning but by no means are we a dominant.
On another note our Defense IS dominant and thats 1/2 the battle.

Problem-
If what we need is a strong, confident, consistent quarterback, Vince is our ONLY shot at that. Collins is probably going to be a decent QB, but that’s all he’ll be. Vince has the potential to be more than that.
I also don’t see the issue with his attitude. We know Vince can be the leader that this team needs. We saw it in 2005, when he revitalized a team that didn’t believe in itself and pretty much carried them to an 8-8 record. If there’s something getting in the way of his being that leader, then whatever it is needs to go away.
I thought one of the most telling things about today’s game was that Vince got injured making sure he completed a short pass to Lendale White that hit White square in the chest and was simply dropped. The Titans have to fix that sort of thing, and more importantly, DINGER is the guy who needs make sure they are fixed. Our players simply should not be dropping those kinds of passes. If we drop passes that hit guys square in the chest, it doesn’t matter who you put out there to throw.

Y'know, this team has A LOT of talent. The WRs are terrible, but everywhere else...
…this is a very, very good football team. And I gotta admit that I am ready to get off the VY train, too. I really hope he gets it together, but for now, I can do with a few weeks of K. Collins at QB. God knows, the guy doesn’t have to do much. Make a few simple passes and hand the ball off. Don’t turn it over, and don’t quit. After that, the rest of the team can carry it through—with ease!
If Vince really did try to pull himself from the game, then it’s enough already. Get the guys some therapy or something. This is ridiculous.

I concur as well
I was booing with everyone else when he threw his helmet almost into the stands and then sat on the bench and pouted when we got the ball back.
Not to mention when LenDale scored, he sat on the far end of the bench and kept his head down.
Interceptions are frustrating, but throwing a temper tantrum on the sideline is not acceptable from a starting quarterback in the National Football League.

Yeah, the histrionics are completely out of control.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Fisher “encourages” Vince to have season-ending surgery. He’ll NEVER admit it in the media, but he’s GOT to be tiring of this.
We ALL want Vince to be the second coming of Steve McNair, but I’m starting to think that McNair’s true successor is Garrard, and the Titans need to think about going another way. If Collins plays well, I think VY is gonna really have a hard time getting his job back.

I can't lie
I really want another McNair. Its pretty unfair to Vince, but thats the way it is.

Yeah Im as big of a VY supporter as there is..
but he has taken this thing way too far with this whole attitude thing and not wanting to go back in the game. I didn’t see a whole lot of this during his days at Texas but this is just ridiculous. He needs to grow up, be accountable, and realize that he is going to make some mistakes and just play through them.
I think one of the biggest issues with him doing all of this is who exactly is mentoring him? I think I saw someone mention this earlier when they said no one was there to get on his ass and get him back in the game. Going back to all of the Titans game I’ve watched I’ve never really seen a coach or another player get on to him they just all seem to be coddling him.
It’ll be interesting to see how Collins comes in plays and then we can really gauge how good our receivers are. I think we’ve been too quick to blame everything on our receivers,(especially me even though they’re not really halfway decent) but I guess now is the time to see how they perform with a traditional qb.
Oh and looking at all the games yesterday.. why can’t we go to and win the superbowl?!?

VY issues
This is one of my first posts, and all the VY issues prompted me to add to the conversation.
Disclaimer: I am a longhorn and got interested in Titans due to VY. That being said, it is really really surprising to see this attitude from him. I have been following him from the first few days @ Texas when he had all this criticism leveled at him (cant pass, just a running athlete) , and he proved everybody wrong – but not before he talked to the coach to change the offensive schemes around him. Obviously, with him being such a good talent, it worked out fine in the end. And he had the whole respect of the team due to his attitude and demeanor on the field.
I am shocked to see him react this way – Does this mean he can’t take the right steps to correct himself? I saw his reaction on the sidelines and it disgusts me. I have no questions on his talent, he is far better than KC but when he reacts the way he did, one wonders…
That being said, I am looking forward to how this turns out. Will he react the “right” way and get back on track? For his sake, I hope so.

The worst part
about this whole thing is that I hate the way he makes me feel like I’m a typical fan giving up on a player that’s not doing well. Like a Yankee fan I guess.

I'm a Yankees fan.
Heh.
But I am. Even this season.
That said, there’s nothing wrong with asking a grown man to be accountable for himself.
