NFL Thursday Night Football Redskins @ Giants Open Thread
An NFL game that counts. The only thing better than that is a Titans game that counts. I figure there are a lot of Titans fans watching this game because most of us are general NFL fans as well, so here is a place to discuss it as it goes along.
I am at the South Carolina vs. Vandy game in the press box so I will be checking in periodically.

10 minutes....
before the NFL season starts… I know it’s not the Titans but damn it still feels good!
We may never know
if its Campbell’s year or not. I think he had 4 passes thrown with under 45 seconds left in the 1st half. How can a young QB get into a rhythm that way? Or any QB for that matter?

Yeah but the Giants seem to have the Titans disease,
they can’t put it in the endzone. Had they done that this game would be O-V-E-R.

I just saw your boy get killed by SC. Nickson should have kept it and turned it up. The little guy never saw it coming!
There was some serious
Norm Chow like play calling tonight by the Skins. 1st down Run, 2nd down Run, 3rd down Pass, Punt just about every possession. Hurry up offense Running the ball consistently. Horrible.
Looking good for the Dores right now
but there is still a lot of football to be played

The Titans get some of those end zone problems worked out though… Washington looked terrible.
Let's go Titans!!
The Giants didn't impress, either.
As bad as the ‘Skins were (and they were BAD), the Giants were clearly the better team but just couldn’t ever put the game away. That’s fine when the other team has such a horrific, Titan-like Offense, but against a more potent team, the Giants would have been KILLED.
Is it just me, or did it look like a lot of the Giant receivers were quitting on their routes too early? There were a lot of drops and missed but catchable balls.

Go Titans!
So Zorn is definitely a rookie head coach.
These things come to mind:
1) Clock and strategic mismanagement at the end of the game – Not only do they make completely inept use of the clock, they don’t even attempt to win the game. It was obvious they needed to score twice, but the ‘Skins didn’t even think about taking the field goal.
2) Failure to challenge – The short pass to Santana Moss defended by Corey Webster comes to mind. Though the play was ruled incomplete on the field, but the replay irrefutably showed the ball never touched the ground. Moreover, Moss should have gotten a touchdown because he was never down by contact. I hope the gets talked about by Mike Periera on Total Access’ Official Review.
If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
