5 Questions Vikings Suggestions

Every week I try and do a 5 questions with the opposing team's blog, as I am sure many of you know.  The toughest part for me most of the time is coming up with the 5 questions to ask so this week I am asking for your help.  Give me some suggestions on the questions I should ask Gonzo from Daily Norseman.

AD

Do they fear that Peterson will hide in big games like he did during bowl games in college.

Durability is also a concern with AD.

How do u call this a big game?

A big game is a division rival or a chance for a playoff birth… this game is just another game for the vikings to prove they’re better than the titans. But yea keep going with the big game thing. HEY i got a better question for you guys “WHAT KIND OF EXCUSE SHOULD THE MUSIC CITY MIRACLES FANS MAKE UP FOR A HORRIBLE LOSS THIS SUNDAY?” ha thats a good one =)

Here's one.

I’ve read that Tavaris Jackson might not be completely to blame for the offensive struggles. I’ve seen it suggested that the offensive play calling has been questionable. Do you agree or disagree? Are the Vikings a better offensive threat with Gus at the helm?

If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Insert Dwight K. Schrute voice......"Question"

The Vikings have been one of the best teams at stopping the run the past couple of seasons. How do you think they will fare with the Titans duo of White and Johnson?

I always...

I always thought the Titans and The Vikes are very similar. I was hoping to hear some about that, such as the D-Line, Run game, ect. A question could be something like…" A lot of people notice similarities between the Vikings and the Titans, What are some of the big comparisons that you notice and what are the things that the Vikings do better than the Titans? (Or Titans better than Vikings) Especially involving the Defense, Run game, and QB change.

by jmac1383 on Sep 23, 2008 12:10 AM CDT   0 recs

Spot On...

Viking fan here— they seem very similar to me as well. Defenses that you’ll just have a better chance of success if you can air it out versus pound it on them… Offenses that would much prefer to pound it out versus air it out… Very physical on both sides of the ball. The only vast difference is that the Titans have a known commodity in their head coach whereas many Vikings fans have already decided Brad Childress isn’t their guy (me not being one of them).

I’m no Gonzo (Daily Norseman writer) and you guys will surely hear from him, but in my opinion, the matchups to watch will be:

Chris Johnson vs. our persuit. I don’t think we’ve seen a back quite like him for a long time. We know we can handle the best of the best when it comes to your stereotypical dominant runningback, but this kid is a different breed. To me (correct me if I’m wrong), he seems like Reggie Bush in his rookie season if Reggie had been all that he was expected to be. Our defense hasn’t seen speed like this and it will definitely be a challenge… It will also be a nice practice test considering we’re facing Reggie Bush the following week and he actually seems to be living up to his college status lately.

Albert Haynesworth versus Steve Hutchinson. Obviously the most critical matchup for the Viking offense as well as the Titan defense… Two of the very best at their respective positions. Will this be like that flying fight scene in the final Matrix Movie?

Kyle VB versus Artis Hicks. I expect us to be throwing more often than we’d like to. Artis has been challenged by an elite rusher every week while filling in for Bryant McKinnie and this week is no different. He has filled in almost as well as we could hope but it still has to be considered a mismatch.

Titans O Line versus the Four Norsemen of the Apocalypse. This will be as good a test as either unit will see this season in my opinion.

Players on the Titans I’m looking forward to watch in person: Keith Bulluck, Haynesworth, Chris Johnson.

Players on the Vikings you Titans fans should pay extra attention to: Our linebackers are some of the best in the league (obviously I’m biased but trust me, they’re legit)— the most underrated of which has to be MLB, E.J. Henderson. Antoine Winfield is a big thing in a small package and makes an impression. Adrian Peterson is obviously capable of busting something at any time, but I feel like if the Vikings win this game, it won’t be directly because of him.

I think this game will be decided by whichever defense scores more. 28 combined points at the very most. If both teams escape injury free, it will be a small miracle.

Four Norsemen of the Apocalypse

that’s a cool name! Guys we should name our D-line also. Any suggestions?

The Vikings have a great run defense. But their secondary has been...

…questioned at times. Is the secondary slow bad, or is it just that nobody can run on the Vikes, so teams HAVE to take it to the air?

Vikes secondary

Teams have had to take it to the air against the Vikes. Our run defense has been so dominant that some teams chose to abandon the run before the game even started. That coupled with lack of pass rush the last two seasons has made the Viking secondary look questionable. The opposing QB had all day for his receivers to get open. We have some good players in our secondary (although Cedric Griffin has done NOTHING to impress me yet) but Antoine Winfield is one of the better play making corners in the league. Sharper is still a stud but has been fairly quiet so far this year. We are starting a rookie in place of injured Madieu Williams at safety. That hurts a little bit.

Now that being said, the pass rush is coming around. Jared Allen and the Williams wall are gelling and Ray Edwards is no slouch. Better pass rush as seen in the second half against Carolina = better secondary play. Oh and as Drew10 noted above, EJ Henderson is a beast of a linebacker. He is turning out to be one of the best MLB’s in the league and should easily make the pro bowl if he gets his due recognition. Leeber is very good and Greenway is deceptively fast and going to be a very good OLB. I look forward to the challenge the Titans present this weekend. I just hope our pass offense continues to come around as Gus shakes the rust off. GO VIKES!

The only thing I can give and still keep is my word.

They will in the 4th quarter...

… when we’re winning 21-7 and they have 61 combined yards of rushing. They’ll creep they’re way up to another field goal but look for a 24-10 win for the VIKINGS!!! HA

and both teams have combined for 61 yards rushing?

Question

ASk "Where do you think the team would be if they had gotten Brett Frave in a trade from the Packers.

by Tate on Sep 24, 2008 12:42 PM CDT   0 recs

Were fans happy to see Jackson get benched?

What are the two biggest weaknesses on the team?

Most Power Polls have the Vikings sitting around 20. Where should they be?

Is this the last year for Brad Childress? Is he even on the Hot Seat?

Is Gus Ferrotte playing better than T. Jackson did?

Who’s the best Viking I’ve never heard of?

What did the Vikings do in the draft? Did they address Needs or take the Best Player Available? Was this a good idea?

Do the Vikings Cheerleaders do a swimsuit calendar? You got a link for that?

YES, YES and YES!!!

All the vikings fans will tell you childress didn’t truely open up to Jackson but bottom line – - T-Jack is a fading stepping stone left in the past of the vikings and the NFL. I mean its the National Football League. Its the best of the best! Not the 130 yard games that lead to no TD’s and 5 field goals. You found yourself a vikings fan who was completely for the QB switch. Bottom line, T-Jack may develop but its unlikely seeing as he’ll probablly never have a starting job again.
He’s basically a worst Vince Young. It’s hard to take it down but Vince Young is another hopeless dream of disaster and broken hearts for all Tennessee fans. Another sad story of a great athlete who couldn’t make it and be what he was at the prof. level.
Not to get off topic and piss a bunch of Vince Young lovers off, but its clearly been an upside to benching T-Jack. Gus put up a TD and over 200 yards (including a win). I’m not saying Gus is the best QB in the league but he’ll get us through this year. Our D and run game is so good hes all we need out of that posistion.
But i wont be surprised when the vikings win this game because I feel like after this last week we’re just more of a complete team than the titans. And if we lose, some how – - the titans in mind will be the team to beat in the AFC. As of right now I gotta give it to Denver, Buffalo or the CHARGE, even if they lost. Great teams in the AFC. It’ll be cool to see how this season ends.

Is Marcus Griffin still on the team?

His twin brother is pretty good.
