Tennessee Titans Sunday Linkage

Titans' Radio has a good story on Jacob Ford and his battle back from the achillies tendon injury that sidelined him for the entire 2007 season.  You can never have too many guys in the defensive line rotation.

The TR site also has a good recap of Saturday's practice.  It sounds like they used Saturday's practice to simulate a lot of real game situations.

Jim Wyatt has an evaluation of the QB play through the first week.

Wyatt also has a notes column that leads off with details about Kerry Collins losing 10 pounds in the offseason.

I don't know

what the situation is, but I really hope that if Kerry Collins gives us a better chance to win he will start. According to Wyatt’s report, and many others’, Kerry has been far more consistent

Being consistent in training camp

and giving us a better chance to win are 2 very different things.

Line them up...

...and let them run 10 bootlegs each and see who is more consistent. Passing accurately is SO overrated.

Watch the first 3 games

Of the 2006 season again and then think about what you just said…

I never said

that Kerry DOES give us a better chance to win. I just said that IF he does, I hope he is given a chance to start. While saying this, I do keep in mind that Kerry has been in the league a few more years than VY, so it is natural that he would perform more fluidly in a new system. I hope that Vince does perform well, not only because I feel that he is more talented, but also because he’s more fun to watch. I was just saying that I hope that whoever gives us a better chance to win gets to start. Then I got assaulted for it.

It's not that black and white

Even if Kerry Collins gives us a better chance to win the first few games, I still think you need to start Vince. With so much invested in VY, we need to see what we’ve got. And, the fastest way to learn the new system is real game reps.

On another note, did anyone see Colt Brennan last night? Dude looked good…

I agree

with the gist of pretty much everything you said. (btw, i was joking in that last line.. no harm done lol). The thought logic what I was saying is pretty much the same as yours: we have too much invested in Vince to allow him to get complacent. But yeah, after thinking about it, you guys are right. We pretty much have to start Vince.
But about Colt Brennan. He looked pretty solid. That was against 2nd and 3rd teamers, but he looked pretty darn good nonetheless. A couple of those passes could have been picked if it was the regular season, but this guy really does have some potential.

It is all about who gives the Titans the best chance at winning !!!!!!!

Hands down VY is a better athlete than most NFL quarterbacks, in fact possibly better than all of them. Does that mean he is the best person to play quarterback? No…. it requires more than just fabulous physical ability. It demands precision throws and lightning quick decision making. He has not shown the ability to pass consistently, and we all know he is not the brightest bulb in the box and that is a real problem. Time will possibly improve his decision making (doubtful, but maybe), however inconsistency is so incredibly hard to fix.
