Finnegan - soon to be best Titan/Oiler CB ever - Gets Contract Extension

Today, the Titans were smart.

The extended Cortland Finnegan through 2011.

http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080815/SPORTS01/80815037/1027

This was a must do move, IMO.  I'm glad we used our cap space on extending our current group of core players.  Finnegan is clearly one of them.

He is going to become, IMO, the best CB ever to wear Ttian/Oiler jersey.  Teams will not want to throw his way this year.

The deal is "worth roughly $17 million over the next four seasons, and it includes roughly $8.5 million in guaranteed money. He’ll receive a $6 million signing bonus, and a $500,000 base salary for 2008." (via Tennessean)

The 7th round pick was set to make ~445K this year.

Last year, Finnegan played so well, that he led the team in money given to players that play better than their conrtracts.

Great Job Titans!

Now just go find a CB to play next to him that isn't named Reynaldo Hill or has multiple concussions.

Oh ya, next up (IMO).....extending Fuller.

EXCELLENT!

I was worried about what might happen to him if he hit free agency… he’s so damned important to our D.

Finnegan?

Better than Reynaldo Hill?

That was a joke!

I don’t even know how Reynaldo Hill keeps his job.

How does Rey keep his job? It's obvious!

Blackmail!

He has photos proving that Jeff Fisher’s mustache is fake or something. The team is scared it will get out if they cut him.

that's the most logical reason I've heard in 2 years,

because it sure isn’t his performance that’s keeping him employed.

Sweet

Way to go C-Fin!

If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

I think that he is now...

…respected more than Harper, look for more ball to that side of the field. Hope Rey Hill eats his wheaties if Harp goes down, again!
