Tennessee Titans Wednesday Camp Linkage
The City Paper Camp Confidetial.
For the second consecutive day of practice Quinton Ganther ran as the third-team running back, dropping Chris Henry to the fourth unit in most drills. Ganther enjoyed a standout game with 115 yards on eight rushes with two touchdowns against the Rams.
Could the Titans cut Chris Henry? (Vote in the poll at the bottom) Frank Wycheck made an interesting point on the radio yesterday morning. He said that you can't teach a running back vision, and Henry just doesn't appear to have it. If Ganther has some success against a better Oakland Raiders defense this week Henry could be in trouble.
Titans Radio practice report.
During seven-on-seven, the offense began to stall but still showed good chemistry between the receivers and quarterbacks. Young showed consistent improvement in the deep passing game connecting with a rehabilitated Justin McCareins on a twenty-yard touchdown pass.
More encouraging signs on the progress of VY. I can't wait to see McCareins in action against the Oakland Raiders.
Jim Wyatt blogs about the battle between the receivers for spots on the roster. At this point I am not really concerned with which guys are going to make the roster. I just want to see a couple of them step up and prove they can make plays consistently. I haven't seen that from a single guy on the roster.
VY passed out copies of Madden '09 to a bunch of the guys after today's practice. It would be pretty funny to see those guys playing Madden against each other. Anyone get the game yet? How is it?

They better not cut a 2nd round pick with that kind of physical ability after only 1 year!
Seriously, I know RB is a quick producing position, but only giving a guy 1 year? That’s completely unfair.
All rushing attempts against the guys who should be bagging the Rams’ already inept defenses’ groceries by next week [i.e. the 4th quarter preseason D] should be taken with a grain of salt.

Henry was a terrible pick last year.
Rheiny may well admit this and give him the old heave-ho.

Wait, Will? Or Should?
I don’t think they will…but I think they should. So my vote is wrong! Recount! Recount!

If he can't honestly beat out Quinton Ganther, he both will and should go home.

Good News
“If Harper cannot go, Fisher said he has entertained the notion of starting Eric King in his place at left cornerback Friday night.”
-Camp Confidential
We may get our wish and see Rey ride the pine instead of Eric King.
If I hit a hole-in-one on this grand slam the dominoes will fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.

Speaking of guys who rode the pine that I'd like to see play:
Where the Hell was L. Hawkins during the Rams game? Was he even on the field?
If this guy is on the roster behind B. Jones this year, and Jones continues to drop everything of any importance that’s thrown his way, I’m going to go crazy.

he better be!
Every time Brandon “brick hands” Jones sets foot on the field I shudder with fear.
The guy is the Rex Grossman of receivers. Terrible when it matters.

He was on the field late in the game during the Quinton Ganther show.
Pretty much blocking. I am not sure they threw a pass while he as in the game at all.

Y'know, I think that more than anything, that is why Norm Chow got fired.
Fisher doesn’t go away from the run when it’s working. Period. And Chow did a few times, inexplicably, and it cost them a game.
But to my point, Hawk ought to get the “start” at #3, or we’ll never see what he can really do.

No way
He might have been a bad pick, but I don’t think he should get cut.
Lendale and CJ will split time as starters. That leaves Henry as a capable backup RB. He probably wont get much playtime, but he’s a good insurance policy in case of injury.

But you get the same thing from Ganther and he can also play FB.
