Mike Williams Released by the Tennessee Titans
So much for my prediction that he would be a starter this season. Williams had been saying all the right things this entire offseason, and he showed up to the OTAs down about 30 pounds. I don't know this, but I would suspect there has to be some type of off the field issue that contributed to this because of the timing. From all accounts his performance has been inconsistent, but inconsistent performance alone typically doesn't get a player released this early in camp.
Former New York Jets receiver Chris Davis will take Williams' spot on the roster. That could get confusing.

If this is really the end
Then MIke Williams has to be one of the most disappointing prospects in NFL history. When he came into the NFL, I figured at a minimum he would make a handful of Pro Bowls.
I think you’re right, though, cutting him this early feels like something most have happened off the field.

I called this
In my titans depth chart predictions. Everyone was saying oh hes gonna make a miracle comeback of all time, hes a reciever that weighs more than lendale white and has slow tight end speed with mediocre hands. Why would we keep him on the roster he has no talent at all.

It's sad for him that he got cut, but it's good news that they're willing to cut...
...guys that don’t perform.
Also, I don’t think the timing is as weird as Jimmy suggested. First off, cutting him early gives him a lot more time to make another squad, and secondly, they already brought in another receiver. They probably cut him to make room for the other receiver. Remember, camp this year is a strict 80-man roster.
That said, the guy obviously needs to quit hittin’ the Krispy Kremes.

To make it less confusing, maybe the new Chris Davis could change his last name to Williams…
...
...
Nevermind, that won’t help at all, actually.
