Another Fan Guide for Tennessee Titans Training Camp
The Tennessean has out their fan's guide to training camp. It includes directions and the autograph schedule for each day. I cannot tell you how excited I am that camp opens tomorrow. That means the season is just around the corner.
Here are my 2 questions leading into camp tomorrow:
1. Will Chris Johnson be signed in time for the first practice?
This shouldn't be anything that cannot get done. Slotting the #24 pick is pretty easy. Johnson is going to do a lot of things for this Titans' offense so it is crucially important that he does not miss any time.
2. Will Albert Haynesworth report on time?
Jim Wyatt is reporting this morning that the Fat Albert's people and the Titans are still in negotiations. This tells me that there isn't any ill will between the camps. They were just unable to hammer out numbers that were sufficient for both sides. Albert needs to do his part and show he is committed by signing his tender and being on the field tomorrow.

My $.02:
1. Will Chris Johnson be signed in time for the first practice?
Yup. Easily.
2. Will Albert Haynesworth report on time?
No. I think this is much trickier because of the on-field percentage that these deals typicallly require. I doubt Big Al is gonna want to sign up for 60-65% of the defensive snaps. He may-legitimately-think he won’t be on the field that much. At the very least, he’s got to realize that not being on the field that much is a real possibility. And I think that causes a hold-out of probably about a week or so.

Totally agreed
Albert is not gonna accept any performance clauses that are related to his level of effort. He is inherently lazy, but has the talent to post big numbers by playing sparingly.
I would be inclined to assume that Albert will accept performance clauses that involve stats like tackles-for-loss, total tackles, maybe sacks, and games started… but having to play when he is out of breath is something the big guy doesn’t like to do.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a holdout well into August; and here’s the rub – No way Fat Albert is in the kind of shape he claims to be from the Athletic Performance Institute, and when he comes in and actually starts playing football I fear a similar injury to what he had last year; a nagging injury that forces him to take plays off and perhaps miss some games.
If only KVB had Haynesworth’s body; that would be some kind of freak that puts Reggie White (RIP) to shame.

A distinct possibility.

The incentives better be high...
because giving up the right to use the franchise tag is one hell of a concession. It was different with Asante in NE because they knew (and had basically said so publicly) they were never going to pay him huge money. The Titans NEEEEED Albert though… way more than he necessarily needs us.

The Tennessee Titans Training Camp is one of the best camps to go to for the fans. It’s unfortunate I won’t be able to.
