I am back !

To the dismay of jimmy I am back and am ready to talk Titan football. It has been a super busy summer, I have checked in from time to time to see what was happening with the franchise but never commented. A lot of changes have taken place, in particular the hiring of Hermindinger. IT will be fascinating to see how he handles the VY personality. He is a no nonsense kind of guy and will either get Young to the next level or Young will flame out. The season is about to get started and I can't wait !!

I hope

VY stays strong and doesnt let the media get to him. I would much rather have a qb with the fresh exciting skill set of vince young, than the boring pocket passer pitch and catch play of kerry collins. I mean Kerry is a great player and hes a great back up for vince, but that is the reason i have always liked the titans Mcnair then Young two exciting qb’s, even volek was a good deep bomb qb to make the games interesting. Give me Young, Mcnabb, Vick anyday over Manning favre or brady. (not saying they are better qb’s i would just rather watch the scramblers than the conventional pocket smart qb).

He has a lot to prove. I will try hard not to use the word "suck" this year

VY certainly has a lot to prove and will he? Who knows, even his own teammate Mawae threw him under the bus after the playoffs ended. I beleive he said that he needs to become a student of the game.
I will concede that he did not have an elite corps of receivers last year, but they were not terrible either. Even if 75 percent of the drops were caught, VY statistics would still look very sad.
I know a lot of people love to see him break the pocket and do what he does best, and that is run. Well that may have worked in college and it worked for a time in his first year with Tennesse, but defenses have caught up to that and are ready to lower the boom when he decides to run it himself. Do you really want your starting qb to be in such peril? If he has a sure shot for the first down and can get out of bounds without someone laying him out, then sure. Otherwise I think it is risky business having him play running back without a really good reason . The injury he suffered last year is a glaring testimony to what can happen when a qb runs with the ball.
Will the coaching changes have a great impact on VY? We shall soon see.
I may pull that word suck out from time to time, if warranted only. Let the games begin !

back to my original question.

Just to clarify JK, I don’t have a problem with you bashing VY. Hell, most of the country does. My problem is that you proclaim to be a Titans fan, but it seems from all your posts that you can’t wait for VY to F up so you can point it out. I’m not sure what that’s all about, but that’s how you come off. Do you feel better after doing so? Are you a better person for it? Are you smarter than the Titans because you wouldn’t have drafted him?

Maybe there are issues in your life causing that behavior, but that’s why people (well, at least me) on this board can’t stand you.

Maybe a little positive thinking would do you some good. How about something like this…..with C. Johnson out there the defense will have to loosen up. Dinger will see that and turn VY loose. VY will be able to hit some of the deep throws for a couple of TD’s or will be able to take off and use his legs again. Or if you want to be negative, how about Norm Chow sucked and wouldn’t open his eyes or mind to somthing other than a Matt WHINEart style QB. His offense had no rhythm and was not suited for the type of QB VY is. Is Dinger better? Hell Yes! Will VY benefit from that? Who knows. We’ll find out shortly, but I believe that he will.

Go back and watch some of the UT games that Vince played in. The OC at Texas is unimaginative and old, but even he recognized that VY could do 2 things better than any QB around.

A) Run the Zone Read
B)Throw it deep

i think vince may be going down this season with an injury due to running a new offence and not getting it due to his wonderlick score. he may panic under the pressue of himindinger comming down on him and he will take off one to many times and hurt himself due to lack of understanding on what the play was or how to run it in his first year in this new offence.
last years. lackof comunication or understanding of the passing game was somebodys fault. hoperfully it was chows problem and not the players but somebody wasnt on thesame page in the passing game. ie watch the jags secone game last year. hopefullyl vince proves me a wrong but i have to call it like i see it even if it is our starting qwaterback.
