Community Projections: Vince Young

This week we will start projecting individual player statistics for the upcoming season.  Naturally we start with Vince Young.  Here are his 2007 stats:

Games Completion Percentage Passing Yards Passing TDs INTs Rushing Yards Rushing TDs
15 62.3 2,546 9 17 395 3

What will VY's final line in these 7 (Games, Completion Percentage, Passing Yards, Passing TDs, INTs, Rushing Yards, and Rushing TDs) stats be?  Here is my projection.

16, 65, 3700, 25, 11, 550, 8

Put your predictions in the comments below.  When the comments close on each entry I will add them up and post them in a recap.

Same prediction

We’re on the same page as far as what I expect to see out of VY. He’s a guy one could get a lot of value from in a FF draft.

Hmmm...

14, 59, 2910, 16, 13, 580, 7

Right on target!!

With Crumpler and a Young 2.0 (I hope…) , 25 TD is really possible…

65% completion??

You predict VY will have 65% completion for the year?

I don’t know. Granted, he did improve his percentage greatly and ranked 16th in the league for 2007. But last season, only 7 players threw the ball at 65% completions:

Tom Brady
Chad Pennington
Drew Brees
Bret Favre
Matt Schaub
Peyton Manning
Ben Roethlisberger

Excluding Pennington and Schaub, the others are aruguably the top 10 in their positions.

My reasoning may hold no merit, but if VY threw for 65% next season, he would be up there in the top 10 QBs of the league.

I hope he can do that, but I see his percentage to be more average. More like last year at around 62%.

Plus, from what I remember, Dinger’s offense wasn’t a drop back and dump the ball to the tight end in the flat kind of offense (like the one we had last year). So if the offense is throwing the ball downfield more, theres apt to be more incompletions in general….unless VY is that good.

VY is that Good!

Vince has always thrown the deep ball much better than the short passes. This plays into style.

but those short passes are higher percentage, especially when your WRs are trash

I think 65% is a bit of a reach… last year’s scheme as too much low-risk/low-reward stuff…

I think you gave him too much.

33 TD’s overall to 11 picks is alot to ask for. I don’t see our recievers/tight ends catching 25 TD’s. Im going with…

15, 62, 3100, 18,14, 600,6

are you joking me

3700 passing yards hes never even thrown for 3000 and you expect him to bust out with a season like that. those are pro bowl qb stats right there and with our recieving corp i mean i love vince but no way he does that.

my predictions are somethin like
16 games played 61-63 completion percent 15 passing td’s 12 ints 3000 give or take maybe a little higher pass yards and 500 rush yards with 5 tuddys

BWAHAHAHA

He’ll be better than last year, but this is just ridiculous.

by HoustonDiehards on Jul 15, 2008 8:39 PM CDT   0 recs

He'll be MVP if he has those numbers

I’d love to see it but I’m thinking a more conservative progression.

15, 64%, 2850, 15, 12, 495, 6

by Titanfan on Jul 15, 2008 10:27 PM CDT   0 recs

15, 62%, About 2900, 17, 9, 250, 3.

Less QB rushing with more QB rushing effectiveness, driven by the threat of Crumpler and C. Johnson, which opens it up. Plus the receivers should be better—but not great.

The change in scheme will help, but we won’t see the BIG LEAP FORWARD until the second half. Hopefull Crumpler won’t be nicked by then.
