Media Approval Ratings: Frank Wycheck

Of course everyone loved Frank Wycheck when he played for the Tenessee Titans, but how do you feel about him as a broadcaster?  He does the color commentary during the Titans' games, and also does a morning show on 104.5 The Zone.  The morning show is the best thing on the radio here in Nashville, and he does a good job of breaking plays down during the game.

I'm curious.

For those who don’t like Wycheck: why? I think he’s a pretty good color guy—a lot better than a lot of other guys you hear on the radio. Personally, I tend to listen to football on the radio a lot more than I watch it on TV, and I think Wycheck compares very favorably to the guys I hear calling games. So what am I missing?

He got in that one “fight” with Adam Jones, and he did that whole wrestling thing (at least I believe that was him). I don’t really have a problem with that, and it seems like Jones causes problems with everyone he’s around, so you can’t blame him for that. I see how some people could dislike him though.

OT But Relevant:

Eddie George and one of the Channel 5 sports guys did the TV broadcast play-by-play during the preseason. I believe the rival Emmitt Smith for moronic football banter and inability to make intelligent commentary. Anyone who watched last year’s preseason please back me up.

Yup.

I like Eddie, but he was OBVIOUSLY unprepared for the game, which is rarely if ever true of Wycheck. Wycheck seems to make an effort to stay involved with the team, and that really helps IMO. Eddie needs to stick to landscape architecture, a perfectly honorable profession for a guy with his background.

Wycheck

Reasons to Like: Former player perspective, still has some insider info, told me good game in the parking lot after I beat him in softball
Reasons Not to Like: HOMER! The only negative thing I have heard him say about the Titans has been about Pacman who everyone was negative about.
All in all I think the balance goes towards me liking him

Let's stop calling him Pacman

He doesn’t deserve it. agree?

I like him...ok

He’s not the greatest but he is better than Eddie George. Who was the guy that was doing it, I can’t remember his name? Wasn’t he a former Jets qb? I think he may have been better.

I don’t like his morning radio show though. I use to listen to it but it’s just a bunch of fluff. No real news and him and M. Howard seem to be promoting themselves too much. And the wrestling gig. sheesh!
