Around SBN: VIDEO: Austin Rivers' Buzzer Beater Finishes Off UNC

Norm Chow's Offense

"The thing I like most about (Heimerdinger) is he listens to what the players have to say; he allows you to be a football player instead of a robot. He just lets you play football,'' Williams said. "Before it was a certain way you had to do things and that was it. Now it is basically, 'Get open'. I am pretty sure every receiver would like it like that.''

That was a quote from Roydell.  That about sums it up for me.  Chow didn't want playmakers, he wanted players doing EXACTLY what he told them to do.  Seems like that just about kills Vince's chance at doing what he does best.

I'm excited about this year with Dinger.

What do you think?

agreed!

Jim Shwartz was on 104.5 (i think) last week during the afternoon drive and really left me with the impression that the biggest fundamental difference between Chow and ‘Dinger is that Chow believed he already had a system that could beat defenses if run correctly, where as ‘Dinger excels at building a loose scheme with different philosophies against different defenses.

Shwartz also said he and ‘Dinger make their squads compete a lot more in practice than they did over the Chow era, with the two coaches making sure they run sets and looks that are problems for their guys.

Our scoring couldn’t be much worse, so this year should be a huge step up in offensive excitement!

Our best pick-up this off-season has been 'Dinger. Go Titans!

Heimerdinger in Denver

I only watched one or two games played by the Broncos last year, but dinger seemed intent on using Cutler’s mobility much more than Norm Chow ever even fathomed of trying with Vince. And, not to knock on Cutler, but Vince Young is clearly the superior athlete.

seems like some good news about dinger, but, on another post, bad news about our WRs.

i do like our intended style though: run the ball really well, hit the TEs, play solid D. It got us into the playoffs last year, and I think we can all agree that Chris Johnson, Alge, and Dinger will help the offense, as will another year of exp for VY.

i think right now, at this point in time, we just need to accept that a big splash WR isnt going to happen and rely on the above mentioned scheme. we need to focus on adding another piece or two to the DLine. Jason Taylor is intriguing.
