OT: Memphis Basketball Fans (no trash talk)
I know many of you are Memphis fans, how's everyone handling things? I'm seriously not mouthing, I feel for you guys. We are all Titans fans so we know what it is like to come up so close an not being able to win a title.
Do you guys blame Calipari for not calling a TO?
I don't, it would of given Kansas a chance to set up a play. Yes, they could of fouled, but I think you could of still gotten that point across with giving Self a chance to set something up.
Do you blame free throw shooting? OK, stupid question, I'll move on.
After Rose made his 2nd free throw and Kansas was bringing the ball up the floor, did anyone else notice the huge palm/carry/travel their guard did in the backcourt. He carried the ball big time, but I've not heard it mentioned by anyone. I know, let them play the game, but it did get him an advantage. My Hoosiers got called for that twice in their blowout loss to Arkansas in round one, and they weren't nearly as bad as the one by Kansas.
I'm not a Memphis fan, but was cheering for them last night...so Tiger fans, you have my sympathies!

Not a Memphis fan here by any means...
Memphis should have definitely fouled. Calipari saying that they were trying to is not true at all. If that was the case, why would Derrick Rose put his arms up like he did when guarding Collins? You only see players do that when they are tyring NOT to foul.
I thought Bilas said it best...."It was not God's will that Kansas won, it was Calipari not calling a timeout" after Calipari was quoted saying something to the extent of Kansas won because it was God's will.
I cannot stand Calipari or Joey Dorsey. So, I was happy to see them both lose. Sorry Memphis State fans.

Sick...
That 3 pointer that Collins hit was just ridiculous. CDR and Rose both missing free throws like that was ridiculous.
So many things went wrong that could've gone right. You could blame people, but in the end it doesn't REALLY matter.
I feel bad for good kids like CDR and Rose who really played hard the past few weeks. They deserved to win and they really don't deserve to have to live the rest of their lives replaying that moment at the line in their heads.
You can say what you wont about Calipari but he is a great coach and recruiter. Maybe not the best in the nation; maybe not even the best in the state, but he has done a lot for the University of Memphis. If he wasn't good we wouldn'tve been there. And guess what? We'll be in the dance again next year.
okay, I think I just cheered myself up.

the thing everyone's missing about the 'fouling'
Chalmers just nailed it.
As for CDR, the missed free throws were fatal, but it was his HORRIBLE play over the final 5 minutes that put their heads on the chopping block: everytime he got the ball he'd charge at the hoop even when there was nothing, and the missed jumpers and dumb turnovers. I couldn't believe how much he melted down.
Even Darius Washington was impressed by that choke job.
Still, Memphis played a GREAT game until that point.

There were enough things in the last minute...
BUT...I always feared that the poor freethrow performance they had all season was going to bite Memphis at the worst time. And all it took would have been to foul the guy bringing the ball up court, they make a couple of freethows and it's Memphis ball out of bounds...GAME OVER!
Anyway...Memphis is in top group in the basketball world. Thanks goes out to the Memphis Tigers for a great season!

another thing...
I think Calipari is a great coach. He has brought UMass and Memphis to the top of the basketball world when they were far from it when he took over.
