With the 15th pick in the 2008 SB Nation Mock Draft....

....the Philadelphia Eagles select Limas Sweed, WR, Texas.  I was really leaning towards taking Sweed if he was still there when our pick comes up tomorrow afternoon.  That obviously cannot happen now.  Sweed has all of the phyisical tools to be a great player in this league.

We are coming very close to out pick.  The defensive end position has been pretty much depleted, so I don't think we will go that way with the pick.  In my mind that makes it either a defensive tackle or wide receiver.  It is time to start weighing in with your thoughts.  Speculation is still a little tough being 9 picks away, but give me your top 5 picks for guys left on the board.

This is tough
I'm huge on getting a DT, but there is a BIG dropoff in talent now that Ellis and Dorsey are off the board.  At WR, I LOVE Desean Jackson.  He has the speed we need to stretch the field and is solid in the return game.  His size doesn't concern me.

Top 5:

  1. Desean Jackson
  2. Mario Manningham
  3. James Hardy
  4. Kentwan Balmer
  5. Devin Thomas

On Kentwan Balmer...
I was really high on him, but  there have been some VERY disturbing comments made by several draft guys regarding motivation and motor.

Here's a choice one:

On the surface, based on the improvement, one could deduce that his stock is rising. The way we hear it, however, there may not be a more overhyped player in this year's draft than Balmer, who only improved his time because he was running on a fast, downhill mondo track that generally helps prospects improve their times by .15.

Disheartening to scouts who watched him clock a good time was the way Balmer reacted, claiming that he tweaked his hamstring and could not run a second time. Despite the so-called injury, the career underachiever was able to go through a full positional workout, leaving scouts feeling like they had just been misled about an injury.

"He has no career production," one evaluator said. "He's got excuses for everything, and he did the same thing (Tuesday) when he pulled himself out of the workout. I would be surprised if he gets drafted in the first round."

I'm with you on this
With Limas off the board, I really only see Desean as a gamechanger.  Maybe Mario.

But, there is a lot of depth at other positions including RB, DT, and WR this year.  I'd definitely consider trading the first round pick for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks.

Go for a RB or an O-Lineman.
Based on who's left on the board.  I too am disappointed in what's left, but you gotta get the best possible talent available at the spot.
