Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

2008 NFL Draft Open Thread Part III

It is going to take me a few minutes to gather myself to put together a post on Chris Johnson.  I am pretty much in shock with that pick.  He does help the Titans in the running game, and in theory he is the perfect compliment to LenDale White.  He is the only player on the Titans who has the chance to take it to the house every time he touches the ball.  More on that later...

Back to the open thread

5:00- The Seahawks trade the pick to the Cowboys who select Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida

Why do the Cowboys need a corner?  They just acquired Pacman Jones.

5:06- Duane Brown, OT, Virginia Tech to the Houston Texans

Mel Kiper loves him, but I have never heard of him.

5:10- Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona to the San Diego Chargers

I would have rather had him than Johnson.

5:16- Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC to the Seattle Seahawks

Good call by DonFrancisco

5:19- Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina

Balmer would have helped the Titans.

5:28- The Packers traded pick #30 to the Jets who take Dustin Keller, TE, Purdue

Keller is the best tight end on the board. That is a pretty good pick.

5:34- Kenny Phillips, S, Miami to the New York Giants

This is a good value at #31. He is the best safety on the board and could make a Michael Griffin like impact.

Pacman trade isn't a done deal yet, is it?
and I bet Dallas backs out now. They have their CB and a return guy in F. Jones.

I think Pac HAS to sign the contract today
before we use the 4th round pick

the thing is
it is not only us not picking a WR, it just shows how bad this years WRs are

if it's any consolation
we could STILL GET EARL!!!!!!

Worst pick of the draft?
Is it Chris Johnson or Duane Brown?

Honestly, is there any difference between
Chris Henry and Chris Johnson?

I can't think of any.

Chris Johnson had like the 2nd fastest
40 time in combine history, but he's WAY smaller than Henry...

I really think Henry's PED suspension scared the hell out of the coaches because all he was before the draft was a work-out warrior.

wow look at that
2 picks lefts in 1st round, no WRs taken
i don't mind not reaching for a WR
but 2 2nd round and 1st round pick on RB in 3 years?
Henry = bust ?
i would've loved it if that 1st was Mendenhall

white's
running style says he only has another two or so years left in him

Let's all just....
pray the fisher, mike h, and mike r. know what they're doing 'cause I certainly thought there were much better options out there.  We NEED to give VY some weapons and we HAVE to score points there year in our division.

Exactly
guys!

NOT a single top WR is even gone yet and we are at the 30th pick!

So why not take a Johnson!  man could be HUGE for us!

by white02slpss on Apr 26, 2008 5:29 PM CDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think...
Johnson is a weapon.  A speedy back that can catch passes and return kicks.  The more I read about him, the more I am OK with the pick.  The front office knows the needs of the team better than we do.  It's not a sexy pick, but I think he will be productive.

AGAIN, the difference between him and Henry is that he played and produced in college....produced big time!

hopefully this is like the griffin
pick last year
not many people liked the pick last year but he is a great player for us now

Here we go
Here go the wide recievers.

Time for us to trade up.

Let's get Sweed or Jackson.

OR... Calais Campbell
