With the 17th Pick in the MCM Draft

....the Minnesota Vikings represented by Big Bad Bulluck select....

Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville

A lot of people have forgotten how good this guy can be. They have a definite need at the DE position, but I find a franchise Quarterback a little more important and they should be elated to find theirs with the 17th overall pick.  While he doesn't have a rifle for an arm he has great accuracy, mobility, makes great decisions, and has a strong enough arm to make every NFL throw.

They filled their need for a WR through FA so now its time to get a guy that can get them the ball and keep teams from putting 22 in the box to stop A.D. and Chester Taylor.

The Vikes should be able to find a DE in the 2nd rd that can be productive next to Kevin and Pat Williams.

Update [2008-4-17 15:44:52 by Jimmy]: Putting 22 in the box would be cheating.

I guess you don't believe in...
...Tarvaris Jackson or Gus Frerotte?  Seriously, I thought the party line in Viking-land was that Jackson was coming along.  No?

Jared Allen
Looks like this pick is going to the Chiefs.  They are shopping Jared Allen!  Can't believe that.  The Bucs and Vikes are the two suitors.  I'm not sure if the Titans should be in the mix or not.  It would seriously piss of Kearse and Allen's 60 mil contract wouldn't sit too well with management or locker room.

smells like more of an I wish pick
than a what's going to happen pick... still, I think Brohm and Woodson are both WAY better than Kiper and McShay think they are: so Brohm is somehow a worse QB than he was at the beginning of last year because their D stunk?  What?

I'd love for us to snag Woodson if he falls to the 4-5th round (where some folks have him going) and make him the Dinger's next project.

DEAR M. REINFELDT: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD DRAFT EARL BENNETT!!!

surprise pick here
It is definitely a need position for the Vikes unless Childress really thinks he can get a lot from Jackson.  Childress talks highly of Jackson on NFL Radio so who knows.  I believe at this position in the draft this pick would be a reach.  There are other areas on the team they could address with this pick.

DE is the
only other real position of need.

The only throw Jackson can make on a consistent basis is the slant. There is a reason teams aren't scared to stack the box against them. Jackson is the only one holding them back. Maybe its cuz you have him in our Madden league that you don't approve of the pick, who knows?

Of course Childress is gonna back his QB. What do expect him to say he sucks? If they are looking to draft one I'm sure he will try and hide it by saying such mumbo jumbo. Besides, in all seriousness what's there to like?

And its not cheating to put 22 in the box to try and stop A.D.

I'm not knocking the pick,
It just seems a bit premature, at least to me, to pull the trigger on a replacement for a Jackson.  I'd thought Jackson was young, and the idea that they're gonna get Brohm and turn the corner this year... I don't see it.  To me, making this pick here means that you don't think you can win this year with what you have.  And I think they can win this year.  Who the heck else is gonna win the NFC North?

But if they really think Jackson's not ever gonna make it, then maybe this makes sense.  AP will still be AP next year, and who knows what Brohm will be as a 2nd yr QB?

I don't think
you are knocking the pick. Jackson is Young, just not Vince Young LOL.

I think Brohm is an NFL ready QB. I do not however think they feel Jackson is their guy, regardless of what Childress says. I also think they can win their division. The Packers had more than just Favre so they have a shot. The real question is if they are to win their division do they have a QB that can win them a playoff game or 2 by at least managing the game?

by Big Bad Bulluck on Apr 18, 2008 6:39 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

i believe
with this pick they will address another area of need and with the 2nd or a 3rd round pick they will address the QB position.  Its not a strong draft for the QB and picking Brohm this high is a real reach.  I believe the Vikings will go secondary, WR or OL at this spot.

Your Crazy!
Why waste a pick in the 2nd or 3rd on a QB if Jackson is your guy? If you feel that you need a QB your not going to wait to pick one if there are only 2 or 3 good ones.

Brohm is not a reach.  We can talk in circles all day if you like, you have your opinion and I have mine.

Why would Min go secondary? They have Cedric Griffin, Marcus McAuley that they drafted last year, and Antoine Winfield(Buckeye).

Why would they go WR? They have S.Rice, B.Berrian, and Bobby Wade who we all know is a good slot WR.

Why would they go O-Line? They have McKinnie and Hutch on the left side, and thats pretty good. They have Herrera and Cook on the right side, thats solid.

If anything they will go DE. And the only type of DE they need is a pass rushing DE. Harvey will be gone as he is in this mock. Merling isn't exactly a pass rushing DE. So the pick doesn't fit.

by Big Bad Bulluck on Apr 18, 2008 6:31 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

they would
take those positions because there are better quality players at that position.  Well at one point in time McKinnie was on the block and possibly may still be on the block.  Rumor has it that they might ship him for the Great Jason Taylor among other rumors.  I did not put DE as a need because I feel they may address that position via trade.  Brohm is a very late first to 2nd round pick.  Why not take a qb in the second or third round.  Sometimes teams do take the best player available.  Like our team last year with Michael Griffin; which worked out for us.

They might
get a DE via trade. There is a strong possibility, but till they do its a need. I'm hearing Jared Allen not Jason Taylor. Until they move Mckinnie they have a pretty good LT.

Brohm is top 10 worthy to me. I will agree to disagree.

As for OUR TEAM, OH MY GOSH!

Matter of fact...
The Vikings already picked Brohm. Just scroll up and look.

The Vikes picked him cuz I said so, and since this is my belief it is what will happen. So let it be written, so let it be done.

cuz
u said so is wrong...you should really do more research before making a prediction.  You really tanked this one.  I liked your other predictions but I guess you can't get them all right.

Your just
a hater. Keep drinkin that haterade. I don't need to do research to see that Jackson is not the man for the job, I watch the games on T.V.

Go to the Dolphin blog where you belong. You would think that would be interesting being you have the 1st overall pick and a great DE that wants out of town.

dolphin fan
what are you talking about?  Who would want to be a fan of that team.  Well I hope you watch games on TV.  Is there any other way if you are not at the game?  You really can't take criticism.  You shouldn't be on these sites if you can't take criticism.

I can take
criticism, but only if it is from a Titan fan on the Titans blog. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts Dolfan. We will see who gets the last laugh Saturday.

you must have me confused with someone else.  I have been a fan since the days of the cabbage patch endzone dance and Warren Moon.  You will be laughing as well as I will be when Brohm gets taken in the second round.

I gave the pick a "C".
I don't agree that it's time to give up on T. Jackson, but I can buy the rest if you DO think Jackson is done.
