New Blog: Five For Howling - for Coyotes fans Bar-right-arrows

Does anyone else notice

That today, after almost zero interviews of Free Agents in the first seven days, the Titans went zonkers announcing upcoming visits?  Three DEs , a CB, a RB, a guard, and a WR.  Seven visits announced in one day.

It appears that Reinfeldt's strategy is to lock away the wallet for the first week of free agency, and then go shopping for what everybody else left on the racks.

Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but it's pretty interesting either way.

IMO
It is a great idea. Ya we may not get top FA talent. But if you go and read Reinfeldt's interview on the titans website, he makes a good point. The majority of the time, the best players on a team arent going to have the option of hitting the market. For the few top shelf guys that do hit the market, it's going to absolutely kill your payroll situation to sign them. I think we already have a solid core of players, we just need to add some guys that can play a role, and help us get to where we need to be.

The thing is, you're NEVER...
...gonna get top talent in FA.  And certainly not this year.  That's why folks were ssaying that so many teams overpaid this year.  Because the guys still on the market are only maybe a short step down from the guys taken earlier in the week, but a HUGE GIANT LEAP in terms of pricing.

They still have to figure out what the heck they are gonna do with Big Al, and that could be expensive.  So just hang out and let it happen.  It'll be fine.

good point...
about having to pay for Albert, but lets not forget the other young studs that will be in line to get that first non-rookie contract of their careers pretty soon: D. Stewart, M. Roos, and C. Finnegan just to name a few.

I'd rather save enough money to lock those guys up for 5-6 years... they've proven they can play at a high level in key positions for the two-toned blue (and that's especially true for our tackles: I still hate that we let Runyan walk away all those years ago... let's not make that mistake again).

DEAR M. REINFELDT: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS GOOD DRAFT EARL BENNETT!!!
